Hp pavilion dv6 power issue

I have a HP Pavilion dv6t 2300 laptop. Few days ago, the laptop suddenly stopped running with power issue. I bought a new battery thinking it was a battery issue. When I plug in the battery, AC led light won't turn on and the laptop won't charge. Soon as I take the battery out, AC led light is on.
I tried to turn on the laptop removing the battery with only AC power on, but it will not turn on either.
Is the the problem with the circuit board or is there any step I can do to make this work? Any help is much appreciated.

Have you tried another charger to make sure the adapter isn't the problem?

  • HP Pavilion DV6 Battery Issue.

    Hello,
I'm currently having a recent problem with my HP Pavilion DV6 (A8KO2EA#ABU)  laptops battery stating (plugged in, charging) and being stuck on 8% and not charging whatsoever, if I remove the power cord, the laptop will instantly shut off.
I've made sure all updates are installed via windows and the HP Support assistant, HP battery check states 'Weak (30)' and charge capacity at 45%, also full charge capacity is listed as 2570mAh.
I'm just wonderig if by this I should be buying a new battery, or is there a chacne it could be something else?

  • HP Pavilion DV6 Webcam Issue.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6033cl with Windows 7 64 bit installed.
I have an issue with my webcam, it appears to turn on randomly every now and then.
Not longer than a week ago I thought this may have been a virus and I deleted my entire hard drive and installed Windows on the empty partition.
The webcam light just keeps turning on, I have no current software that uses it and i've only had windows reinstalled for about a week, I have a couple of virus protectors and nothing seems to make the webcam light stop until I restart the computer.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Pavilion dv6 Audio Issue

I recently tried NCH Debut screen recorder - it came packaged with a VERY handy document & AV file converter.
I started having random, then regular, BSOD issues, indicating stdriver64.sys was the issue.
Investigation indicates this is the SoundTap audio driver - which is from NCH.
I've uninstalled all the NCH programs, but there are still registry entries for "sound tap" and also the "stdriver64.sys" in several places in my registry.
I cannot system-restore my laptop to a time prior-to installing NCH, as I cannot find the entry in the system-restore available selections.  I only have about 10 entries in the list to choose restore points, and I installed NCH prior-to the oldest available selection.
Troubleshooting the audio using the HP support assistant indicates my audio drivers are experiencing "Error(39)"
    The drivers affected are:
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC     stwrt64.sys    Version 6.10.6329.0
    Intel(R) Display Audio     IntcDAud.sys     Version 6.14.0.3074
I have manually d/l from HP the correct audio driver install package for my laptop:  sp52399
I've tried 4 times to install this package.  Each time, it installs, advises me to reboot (which I immediately do) and upon reboot, I still have no audio, and HP support assistant still indicates Error(39) for my Audio drivers.
I am installing with full Adminitrator privileges.
I am at the end of my tether.  I want to avoid restoring my laptop to complete fresh HP install (which is my LAST resort).... as this takes me back about 3 months, and I will have countless windows & HP updates to re-download & re-install, never mind the endless process of re-installing all my programs and setting up my preferences.
I cannot find an easy way to take a snapshot/iso image of my freshly-installed & updated system.  The windows backup & recovery process does not work as expected, and last time it took 8 DVD's to burn my backup image and about 2 hours of time.  This is also unacceptable.  Why is it so hard to take a fresh image of your running system, for occasions like this?
Anyway - the question is this.  Can anyone please offer a definitive solution for restoring my audio, without having to revert to a complete fresh factory-reset?
NOTE:  I have basic knowledge of computer systems.  I don't have in-depth knowledge of registry settings, etc.  I know how to search for them, but have no idea what they all mean.  Any solutions offered, please be in plain-english and not TOO difficult, considering I am not a programmer !!!
Any advice of help is appreciated
    Osiris

    Thanks billaboard for your response.
Unfortunately, I gave up waiting for an answer and just re-set the laptop back to factory specs.... then spent the next 8 hours re-installing programs & updating windows & the HP programs to the current versions.
I won't be using an NCH product again.
In terms of who I should be asking, I would point out:
I used the inbuilt HP Support Assistant on my laptop, to diagnose why my sound wasn't working.  It identified the drivers that were at issue.
    I uninstalled all NCH programs
I downloaded the correct HP Audio drivers & reinstalled them.  They advised it was a successful install.  8 times.
Each time I rebooted, I would run the HP Support Assistant again and it would then identify that the HP drivers were not working.
The HP Support Assistant link, for further help, led me here.  If this isn't the correct place to ask for help.... a site labelled "HP Support Forum", then where the hell is ?
Thankyou again for your response.  If I have further issues with other programs, I will follow your advise and re-install the offending program, before un-installing.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx not turning on using AC power supply.

    2. Operating System installed (if applicable):
         Windows 7 64bit
    3. Error message (if any):
Dose not turn-on  on AC power or charge the battery
    4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred:
        None
    Summary of the poroblem:
    Facts:
    1) The laptop works perfectly fine using the battery.
    2) The battery dose not charge using the AC adapter that came with the laptop.
    3) The battery dose not charge when the laptop is turned on or off.
    4) No chaging light turns on when pluged into AC.
    5) When the battery is pluged into the battery slot on the laptop, the white AC power led on the dc jack turns off.
6)The very second I remove the battery from the computer, the white AC power led on the dc jack turns back on!
    7) With the battery removed and the AC power supply pluged into the laptop, the laptop won't turn on, and the white AC power led on the dc jack remains on.
    Tests done:
    1) Used another adapter with the laptop, but had the same problem.
    2) Used different battery, but had the same problem.
    Interesting fact:
When the battery is completly drained out, the white AC power led on the dc jack turns on, but I still cannot turn on the laptop on AC power supply.
    Note:
I Have a multimeter that I want to use to test the power supply and charging circuit on the motherboard, but I don't have a schamatics of the mother board, so I am stuck.
Any suggestions from the HP community would be appriciated. Thanks.

The laptop has a modular DC jack that plugs into the motherboard with a cable and does not require soldering. The first thing to try is a replacement of that jack. Here is the Service Manual:

  • Pavilion DV6 1311el power supply ok, power led does not light up

I own a dv6 notebook model 1311el that works just fine with a charged battery but it wont accept charge from the charger. The led next to the power jack does not light up, i have removed the power button bezel and keyboard and then i used a multimeter to measure the voltage between the wires of the power jack cord and there were 19.5 and 15 volts as it should... I am sure that the power supply works because i gave it to a friend of mine which has the same hp model.

    Hello Nessuno,
I see your AC adapter is not charging your HP Pavilion dv6-1311el Entertainment Notebook, your battery indicator LED is not lit. I would like you to start here, this will help you determine if it is the battery or the power supply: Battery Does not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge.
A battery that does not charge might be the result of a power adapter failure, a system board failure, or a battery failure. Please perform the steps listed in the troubleshooting document in order to diagnose the failure.
    I hope this is helpful.

  • Pavilion dv6 QE CPU Issue

Hello. After I recently ran HP Support Assisstant for the first time since I got this notebook, I noticed a peculiar issue with my computer. Occasionally after some usage of my notebook I would look at my All CPU Meter and see that a single core out of the 8 would just randomly jump up to 100% usage and just hang there for a while. Usually when this happens, it is when I'm about to switch programs. Also when this issue starts happening and I try to shut off my computer, it will not shut off by itself and I need to hold the power button down for it to power down all the way. I think that Bins might be messing around with my notebook but that doesn't seem to be the case because when I turn it off it still happens occasionally.

    Hi,
Have a look at this manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02657339.pdf
Your laptop (the motherboard) supports only dual core processors (Core i3 and i5..). Upgrade to a Core i7 processor means that you have to change the motherboard.

  • Sound Issues HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC

    Hello,
I have HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS. Recently I noticed issues with how my volume control works. I am not sure if it's an application issue (Firefox 9/10) or audio drivers. While watching playing an audio file or watching video my default playback device is set to speaker, but as soon as I plugin my headphones both headphones and speakers will go to mute. Some times disabling and re-enabling the device will solve this issue, and other than that I also have to restart Firefox to get the sound back.
Tried installing all the available updates form windows, also reinstalled/update the sound drivers as n admin with no possible fix. Also as shown in picture below, when I try to make a Google call using Firefox I use built-in mike an headphones. During that time headphones icon will be appeared in the window shown below listed as communication device and disable both audio in/out.
Let me know if any further information is required.
    Thanks.

    First uninstall the audio driver:
Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager. >> Audio, video and game controlar >> right click and uninstall all values under it >> restart >> download and install the following drivers:

  • Wifi issue w/ HP Pavilion DV6

I've owned an HP Pavilion DV6 1030us for a couple of months now.  Wifi issues didn't start showing up until a week after I purchased my laptop.  I found out that there's a problem with the motherboard and sent in my laptop to HP for a repair, but when it came back a week later, it was still in the same condition as it was when I sent it.  HP sent back a paper that confirmed that they had "repaired" my laptop, but all the problems I've had are still present.
Anyways, I'm just curious as to what I should do at this point... my warranty hasn't expired yet, so should I sent it back in for repair?  I don't want to wait another week if everything is still going to be the same... school has already started... so any suggestions?

That looks like keyboard layout issue...Looks like your keyboard is set to UK english...to check that...
To check that, Click Start, type intl.cpl in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. On the Keyboards and Language tab, click Change keyboards.
You should see 2 entries English (united States) and English (United Kingdom). If true, delete English (United Kingdom). That should take care of it...

Since i bought this laptop, every time i use skype or the Windows Sound Recorder, i hear static that drastically increases in volume. • Pavilion dv6 - laptop receiving power but will not power on

    Pavilion dv6-6c53cl
    Windows 7
As of earlier tonight, I can no longer power on my laptop. (I powered it successfully earlier today.) When the power adapter is plugged in, the indicator light on the laptop next to the power connector socket turns on, so at least the laptop is receiving power. I've tried removing the battery and disconnecting the adapter, draining the power, and reconnecting the adapter with and without the battery in, and in various orders. I've also tried removing and reseating both RAM sticks and the hard drive, all to no avail. Any suggestions?
This is the fourth major failure of this system---the first three were a fan problem just weeks after purchase, a hard drive failure, and another fan problem---since I purchased it 22 months ago, and I feel I've bought a lemon.
I'd like to avoid taking this in for repair if possible, because the local repair contractor (I live in Australia) badly bungled the previous repair: They took several weeks even to start on the repair, failed to fix one problem, and introduced a second, more severe problem (a keyboard failure, which somehow they didn't test despite apparently removing and reseating it when fixing a fan problem). I asked HP support about this, and the rep said there were no other shops near where I live that do in-warranty repairs. Please help!

Can you post the different things you have tried and Current version of OS on this notebook?

If the lines and distortion is seen in BIOS also then it is a hardware issue. It has to be with the graphics card. As the computer is still booting fine you can try updating the graphics drivers for some improvement.
