  • Motherboard wont post

I just got my motherboard back from warranty (after 7 bloody weeks)...anyways i put it all together and the stupid thing wont post. There are no sounds whatsoever coming from the motherboard. I double checked all the connections and everything is in order. I know its not the power supply because its a brand new Antec case out of the box (see signature for details). All other components are operational and everything gets powered up but like i said no sounds at all  (POST) can be heard from the motherboard.
    Any ideas boys and girls????
If the case is that the motherboard is stuffed even though it just came back from warrant after being fixed, what is MSI's policy on things like this, because the warranty period just expired. This was the second time the mtherboard was being fixed by MSI rather than being replaced and both times it took them 7 weeks.
    I'm open to suggestions....please advise.....thanks

i got no accessories other than the components specified in the signature. Even if i had anything else connected there should be beeps generated by the board to suggest an error.

  • May web cam wont post pic?

my web cam wont post pics now?? Have a feeling my daughter did something???

    Hello jennifer2000000,
Let's see if we can get your issue resolved. Before I can do that though I'll need to know what computer you have and if it has an internal webcam or an external webcam.
Where are you posting pictures to?
You said now, so am I wrong to assume that it used to work?
What operating system does your computer run?
Does the webcam work for video, but not stills or does video not work as well?

  • Please help 790GX G65 wont POST

    Hi MSI community,
I have a brand new 790GX-G65 as part of my all new build and it wont POST.
    here's the system
790GX-G65 - winki edition (winki not connected)
    Phennom X4 965 Black (AM3 package, 3.4GHz)
    Corsair 400W PSU
2*2GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 - p/n cmd4gx3m2b1600c8 , which according to the reseller's website is guaranteed to support all DDR3 platforms from AMD
using the onboard ATI RADEON 3300 via the vga socket
I have the board outside the chassis on a peice of cardboard
the 24 pin connector, 4pin connector, heatsink fan, CPU, ram, keyboard(tried PS2 and USB ones) and monitor are the only things connected.
I have tried using each ram stick individually in slot1, both together in slots 1 and 2 and no ram at all.
In each case when i start the system the fans come on, the reset and power buttons light up, the five blue LEDs in the top right corner come on NB1,LED2,LED3,LED4 first then LED1 a second or so later, but nothing else happens.
no beep codes(have tried with and without the system speaker connected), no signal to the monitor (tried several monitors)
I've tried clearing the CMOS several times.
it seems to me like its a dead chip or board but i cant truly rule out ram.
anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
I will ask around to see if i can find another AM3 chip or board to test against but most of my friends went the intel route
    many thanks

    Hi Guys,
Thankyou all for replying, sadly though it still doesn't work :(
    nt650
I could understand the psu struggling if i had load of othe things running off it, but it's just the board and chip.
I'm happy that its not the board shorting out on the cardboard.
I've tried it with a couple of old ATI rage IIs I had lying around and theres no joy from either of those. both known to work in other pcs
I'm using the standard AMD HSF so the clip on that shouldn't have caused a problem. I didn't need a hammer to fit it!
    HDD is not connected
    CMOS battery seems fine
paperclip test was fine, fan spun up immediately

I cant be sure what bios version i have, its a brand new board and i havn't flashed it so whatever it shipped with, v1.4 I guess. Are there any known issues?
    Bas
I checked the pins again, all there and straight.
    Hans
I'll try and lay my hands on a beefier PSU tomorrow, but with just chip and board it should run ok. I know it's near the bottom end of the recommended range but the PSU companies will always want to sell you more than you need.
One other thing I tried just for kicks was to start the board without the chip in at all,
the hsf still came on, the speaker still did nothing but only LED1 LED2 LED3 and LED4 came on, not NB1. I have no idea what (if anything) that means, but hopefullly someone on here does.
Anymore ideas out there? They would be gratefully received

  • K8N NEO2 shut down/wont post

Long story short. I cleaned my case, put it back together. System ran for a few minutes then shut down. It did that a few times then all it would do was turn on for a few seconds. Now it wont post at all. Any ideas? Thanks. SIK.

put components out one by one until it posts
also try to swap memory/power supply/ cpu and see if it post again
I know it is a long and hard process but it is the most effective way of solving the problem.

  • MSI DKA790GX wont POST |SPLIT

    msi DKA790GX
    PHENOM 11 X4 940BE
    OCZ FATALITY 800MHZ 8GB
    EVGA GTX 285
    ANTEC 650 WATTS
    2X WD 320GB RAID 0
I am having almost the same issue but if i turn the switch of to power supply then press the power switch on mainboard it will boot
if i try to restart from windows it will not post if i try to turn power on with switch on case (antec 900) lights come on alot of sound but will not post, unless i use switch on motherboard  it will not post at first it was random but its getting worse i tried the new bios 1.9 no luck
it works great other than i have to use power switch on motherboard for boot up
temps are normal, i have reseat the cpu, memory power cables nothing ran tests after test it all seems fine but it wont post with windows restart or power switch on tower

Since both problems and fixing has to do with the power supply unit (PSU), I would check power connections. Perhaps try with another PSU, but it sounds like if some devices share the wrong power line. Antec PSUs usually come with a manual, have a look there for good distribution of the cables/connections.
Could also be traces - metal debris - in the motherboard, that creates power "jumping".

  • 645E Max-C Flashed wont POST

    I just got a Max-C 645E  Ms-6547e.
I had this problem with my ms-6529.
It wont boot into XP! I have a dual boot with  98SE and XP Pro. It boots into 98SE fine but gets to the Boot Screen of XP and I get a Blue screen error about Viruses and Newly installed HDDs. I know that isnt the problem. like I said my 6529 did the exact same thing
On the 6529 I changed the Modem/Audio settings and flashed the BIOS and it booted.
So I try it with this new POS. Flashed my bios with .31  and now it wont POST! The DLED sticks in "Early Chipset Initialization" and hangs there. Ive pulled the CMOS Battery AND jumped it to 2/3 position. At this point recovery isnt likely.
Need help. Ive been a loyal MSI user for a while now but am losing patience.
    Thanks
    A

this also could be the source of the issue,
use only matched memory sticks and either 1, 2 or 4 but not 3
right now are in slots 1-3, you say i should try them in 1-2, 1-4 or 2-4? anyway i've already try 512 in slot 1 only, 1gb in slot 1 only, and no ram at all but nothing changed..

A processer problem most likely. Is there a lot of dust?
no, just the usual. already remove it and installed again jus in case, same behaviour

  • Z68A-GD80 Wont post with new GPU.

I have two working Asus 7970 Matrix cards that my PC wont post with them in. All power connectors plugged in, tried two different PSU's a Corsair HX850 and a Corsair AX1200i. Tried both PCI-E slots on the motherboard with both cards.
The cards work in a second PC however, so it seems like its the motherboard.
No display signal, no beeps, no post.
Also, the system posts and works fine with a GTX 590 instead of the Asus 7970, and Sapphire's 7970 works fine as well.

Hello Svet, even it has been posted more than one year ago. I experienced the same problem with a HD 7950.
I just want to say : Yes it works finally BUT where did you find this Bios ???
I use the global website and this version is simply missing !!!*
The first thing I did while seeing that I didn't have no video signal and no boot is to upgrade the bios but I only find the .H5 or the bios for Ivy.
Anyway I have a mixed feeling, quiet happy and yes ... thank you for your help now it seems working fine.
But on the other hand ...what a pity from MSI to have a so bad listing of their bios.
    Once again thanks

  • 848P Wont post

The new comp I built will not work.  This is pissing me off.  It wont POST, and gives me the following error:  CMOS/GPNV checksum bad.  I run SCSI drives
I exchanged batteries with another machine, and it still wont post
I have tried both sticks of RAM, but it wont post
Tried disconnecting all devices, wont post
    Here are my specs:
    MSI 848P Neo mobo
    3.2C 800FSB Pentium 4
    1GB no-name PC4200 RAM
LSI Logic 21320 Ultra320 SCSI controller
    72.8GB Ultra320 SCSI HD
    GeForce FX 5200
No-name PSU that delivers plenty of power at 12v (24A)
    I am running AMIBIOS 1.0

    Hi Alex,
How long ago did you buy board???? As Bios 1.0 is first release....
Which country you in? UK, has buyer protection in which the seller is responsible for faulty products......if UK quote Sale of Goods act 2002!!!! RMA can take upto 6 weeks, depending on the supplier in country you are in. I am not sure of MSI direct times....
What about mounting holes, too close???? How do you mean?
Yes, it could be a Memory problem if you only have Bios 1.0 as 1.4 has cured alot of boot/post problems.

  • P35 neo combo wont post

Hi, i just bought new motherboard for my system (msi p35 neo combo) and it wont post or beep at all, all the fans start but the screen wont wake up(aka black screen). All the components works just fine on my old asrock 775-dualvsta. So far i've tried to boot up with&without any ram, graphics card, hard-disks, checked all cables X times, re-seated cpu cooler, cleared cmos, etc. No go! :( Any advices?
I bet it's DOA but i want to be sure before RMA, long process... >:(
    My setup: C2D e6300, radeon x1950pro, 2gb PQI 800mhz ddr2, samsung t166 500gb, scythe ninja plus, antec slk3700amb, Hec PM-420PB.

Have you checked if all power connectors for board and video card are properly connected?
    Board:
    - 20/24-Pin ATX
    - 4-Pin +12V CPU (connector cables should be black/yellow, otherwise it is additional 4-Pin plug for the 20+4 ATX connector above)
    Video Card:
    - 6-Pin +12V PCIe

Take the board out of the case and test it on a non-conducting surface in barebone confuguration (just CPU, video card, one stick of RAM, power connectors, keyboard).  Clear CMOS with main A/C power connector removed from PSU after hardware changes.  See if that changes anything.
