HP PD6400z Pocket Media Drive

I have a HP PD6400z Pocket Media Drive. I want to know if it will work with an iMac? I'm trying to move pictures from iPhoto to the HP Pocket Drive.

If I understand your problem, you want to return the hard drive to it's original, like new, status. The "lost" files are of no value. In that case, just format the drive. Here is a link to the SureStore PMD  GUIDE and  Software

  • Reset Pocket Media Drive to factory defalts?

I have a HP PD6400z Pocket Media Drive for my  Pavilion Elite HPE.  I have successfully used the Pocket Mdeia Drive many times, but have encountered a small problem.  I have files saved on Pocket drive that are unremovable, and unlocatable!  I cannot access the files through the computers "Control Panel" or from the Pocket Media Drives "HP Sure Store" progam. Is there a way to reset the drive to the orignal factory defalts with the lost files deleted?  My total Memory is 596.16 GB, with 401.7GB free, or 194.46 GB for the HP software andd the lost files.

  • How do I recover files from my HP Pocket Media Drive?

My HP Pavilion g6 computer's hard drive crashed a couple weeks ago and as it was crashing, a pop-up showed up to tell me to back up all of my data. I hooked up my pocket media drive and waited until I read a message saying "files successfully backed up", or something similar to that. I then sent my computer to an HP technical support center for them to fix it up. When I got my computer back, I hooked up my pocket media drive and tried to restore my files. I have been unsuccessful with this and need help. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

  • Pocket media drive PD0000

Recently reset my computer back to factory settings; however, I saved all of my data files on my Pocket Media Drive (PD0000) before doing so.   I am now in the process of reinstalling my software but I am unable to access my pocket media drive to transfer the saved data files.   The message appears to "format disk" and since I know this will erase all data on the drive, I do NOT want to do that.   I did a search online at the HP site for drives for the pocket media  but my model number was not one of the ones listed.   How can I access my saved data and once again be able to use my pocket drive WITHOUT losing all the data on it?   Thanks so much!

A pocket media drive is basically a USB drive that is able to fit in the pocket media bay.  First pull the pocket media drive from the bay and verify that the new install of Windows still functions to your satisfaction.  If that is OK, then try connecting the pocket media drive to a USB port using the USB wire that came with the drive (or another cable, if you cannot find the one that came with it)  Does that make a difference, if not-then try on a different computer.  If that pocket media drive was in the machine when the computer was reset back to factory settings, it may not contain the data you thought it did.  Report back with findings.  Make sure you do as directed, in the order as stated.

  • Looking for more capacity replacement for HP Pocket Media Drive PN FK526AA / Model PD3200s

Hello, I have searched the web, called HP, and am not able to find an exact replacement or a replacement pocket media drive with more than 320GB space. The current 320GB drive as what I think is a type 4 jack USB connector. The part number of the drive I have is PN FK526AA / Model PD3200s. Has HP stopped providing these? Are there alternatives?
    Thanks.

HP Pocket Media drives are readily available from sources, in various capacities.

  • HP Pocket Media Drive PD3000

My media drive has been re-formatted, where can I find the software to re-install? I've no luck at hp.com or google.

    Hello TWClayton,
Are you talking about the SureStore software the the Pocket Media Drive uses to automatically backup files with?
This is the updated version of the software compared to what came on the CD originally.

  • HP Pocket Media Drive 750 GB bent chipset for usb

I have the 750 gb hp pocket media drive. When I go to plug it in, the cord will not go in, it is stuck, so when I took it out, one of the chips that the cord is supposed to go onto has been pushed up and back. I can't figure out how to fix it, I just need to pull that chip back down so I can get the usb cable on it to read the drive. Any advice?

    Hello Mollie,
One of the tabs you see in here has been pushed back and is hitting the other side?
Does the port thats broken look like this? Its called a USB 3.0 Micro-b connector.
If so, the tab is most likely broken now. They are fragile.
If you can move it back theres a small chance it will still work but if not, the port will have to be replaced.
If you are really skilled with a soldering pen, you can do it yourself or find a computer repair shop willing to do it.
    They can be ordered online.
    Example: http://www.mouser.com/new/hiroseconnector/hirosezx360/
HP does not have a shop you can send too, sorry.

  • HP POCKET MEDIA DRIVE

I was looking for a hp pocket media drive for my a6612uk desktop which fits into bay on my machine but unable to purchase one. Are they obsolete or can i fit one of another type to my desktop?
    This question was solved.

Ya they are not available anymore. You can use any external USB drive to plug in to a USB port though.
    OR
You can hack into your existing drives case and replace the 2.5 inch HDD yourself provided there is nothing wrong with the functioning  of the case itself.

  • HP Pocket Media Drive Bay replaced with 3.5" Floppy Drive. Need Bracket

I'd probably never find a use for the Pocket Media Drive Bay, because I don't know what one is. So I took it out, and I found out it was just another way to plug in USB. Oh my gosh. And also, it has a very strong spring. It catapulted some batteries across the room. The only good use for it is to make an internal flash drive. BUT LET'S NOT GET INTO THAT TOO MUCH. I was curious to know if my 3.5" Floppy Drive from another computer would fit in there, and it did. I was even able to make it work. But, since it's shorter than any other 5.25" drive (in height), I don't know if just any 5.25" to 3.5" bracket would work for the 3rd drive. So I tried dremeling the old frame to the old bay, and it didn't work. So where do you suggest I get a bracket made for it? PC: HP Pavilion a6200n

    Hey HughZ,
I'm sorry you're running into this BIOS issue.
If I understand correctly, you've currently got a previous BIOS version loaded by the computer shop. Is that correct?
    If so,
    1. Download and install BIOS version 5.23. You may already know but, it will restart on its own during the installation. Allow it to restart and get back to the Windows login screen or desktop.
    2. Then go to Start and Shutdown. Boot into the BIOS by tapping F10 repeatedly at power on.
    3. Once you're in BIOS press F5 to Set the BIOS to Default Settings. You won't get a message or any feedback but just press F9 once and then press F10 to Save and Exit. Yes to confirm and Windows should load normally.
    4. Once Windows has loaded, Shutdown again and test the power on sequence to see if your issue remains.
If it does, you can also go into BIOS and arrow over to Boot. Change Boot-time Diagnostic Screen to Enabled if it is Disabled. Also, let me know what the other tabs' (Advanced, Power and other settings in Boot) settings are set to. You can take pictures and post them with your reply, if you'd like. • HP PD5000x Pocket Media Drive locks up my computer

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s3330.nl computer with an Irvine-GL6E motherboard, version 5.23 and a HP PD5000x Pocket Media Drive. The drive works perfect when it is connected with a USB cable. When I put drive in the appropiate drive bay, the computer won't get into the BIOS when I start it. I know this is a known issue and that the solution should be to upgrade to the most recent BIOS.
A while ago, I upgraded the BIOS to version 5.23 and from then, the computer started with a blue HP logo screen and the media drive worked correctly when it was placed into the drive bay. A few months later, my motherboard broke and was replaced. When it came back from Repairs, it had the same version number of the BIOS, but it had no longer the blue HP logo screen anymore when I started it AND the issue with the media drive was back. The BIOS now starts with the old fashioned DOS startup commands and a black screen. Again, it has still the same version number, 5.23.
I downloaded again the latest BIOS, sp43069.exe for Vista, went back to Vista and let the computer shop where I bought the computer install that one and override the existing BIOS. It didn't help.
Now, my question is: I am looking for the Irvine-GL6E motherboard BIOS, version 5.23 with the blue HP logo screen. If I would put that back, my problem with the media drive would be solved, which has been proven in the past, because that is the correct version.
Is there somebody who could help me with this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Hugh

  • Transferring Files to the Pocket Media Drive

I just bought a 500GB Pocket Media Drive to clear up space on my computer and back up my files.  I want to move my documents, pictures, and music files to the Pocket Drive and off my computer.  I heard that I cannot simply "cut and paste" those folders.  How do I safely move the files over?  Do I click on "Send to F:" in the drop-down menu when I right-click?
    Thank you.

Cut and paste should be fine as wells as right-click send to: or even just drag and drop.

  • Pocket media drive use

I have an m9600t with a pocket media drive in one of the bays.  I want to back up my files and don't know how.

    Hi CelticKat
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Yes, go to: System Preferences > Time Machine and turn Time Machine Off, the last thing you want is for it to format and use your pocket drive as a backup.
Then at some later date when you do have a large drive to use for Time Machine, simply turn it back on and select that Drive as your Time Machine backup.

  • HP Pocket Media Drive PD1600

Can I use my old PD1600 with Windows 8.1 equipment?

The interface has not changed, it's still USB2.0
What I would ponder is using an ATA/EIDE 2.5" hard drive circa 2008. It's beyond life expectancy.
