HP PhotoSmart C4480 In Snow Leopard

My HP all in one PhotoSmart C4480 prints perfectly fine in Snow Leopard but when I try to scan from the printer it says "Scan Error. Try from computer or see documentation". Then when I try to scan from the computer the app fails to open. I've reinstalled the drivers from the HP website and from the included CD in the printer box but it still does the same thing. My scanner worked perfectly fine in Leopard but not in Snow Leopard. I can usually fix this stuff but I think the drivers are not compatible with Snow Leopard. Also when I try to scan from the system preferences menu it ends up saying no scanner selected. Please tell me if you are having the same problem with your HP all in one and if you found a solution. Thanks.

Specifically, HP Scan Pro and Device Manager that came with your All-in-One are not supported in Snow Leopard. Also not supported at the moment is button support, but that will be very shortly (I expect less then a week, but it could be a little bit more).
That being said, you should be able to Scan from the Printer browser (the thing that shows up in the dock), the Print & Fax System Preference, Preview, and Image Capture. Support for all of these applications (and several third party ones) are include with Snow Leopard.
As for importing images into iPhoto, you'll notice from my FAQ entry that if you are trying to import from a card slot on a network device, iPhoto/Image Capture/etc. under Snow Leopard do not support this. The work around is to mount the memory card on your desktop and use the "Import to Library..." option under the file menu. Other apps should have a similar option.
Just trying to help.

  • HP Photosmart C 4480, Snow Leopard and most recent driver problem?

I have followed the posts regarding problems with various HP printers since the update to Snow Leopard. I removed all the HP software, went to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT 3669 and confirmed that my Photosmart Printer is included. I downloaded the drivers and installed them. I opened system preferences, deleted and then re-added my printer. The printer works and the scanner is not detected, I am connected to my iMAC via a USB port. It does not matter whether I go to System Preferences to printer and fax, use Preview or Image Capture, my scanner is not recognized and in none of these places is there an option to add a scanner. I have turned my printer/scanner off and on and I deleted and then re-added my printer without success as well. Despite all the comments to the contrary, the latest "updated" drivers are not working properly.
Any cures or recommendations are highly appreciated.

  • HP Photosmart Printer hangs - Snow Leopard

I have an iMac and 2 MacBook Pros, all running Snow Leopard.  Using a Cisco Linksys WRT610 Router.  I have an HP Photosmart All-in-One printer that has been working flawlessly over WLAN for almost two years.   Over the last month or two I have started having print problems.  Print jobs hang in the middle of printing.  I have tried deleting the printer and adding it back in System Preferences.  I have re-installed the HP Printer Software Update via Apple Software Update.  It is occuring on all three machines.  When I run diagnostics on the printer, it checks out.  The network diagnostics on the printer report no issues.  I have tried shutting down the printer.
Anyone else experiencing a similar problem?  Or have any suggestions?  Thank you.

  • Trouble with HP Photosmart 2710 after Snow Leopard installation

I recently upgraded my Mac desktop and laptop to Snow Leopard. After installing this on the Mac I was unable to scan so I re-installed HP software. This solved the scanning issue but now I can't print, getting a message saying "Software not fully installed". I re-installed from disk and then tried again as a download but still have same problem.
On the Laptop, (also upgraded to Snow Leopard) I made no changes to the printer installation and I can still print but I can't scan. Help please!

Try removing the printer from the list first, then reinstall the drivers.

  • I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion and found out it was not compatible with my HP printer (HP photosmart C5580) so I called Apple and asked how to get Mountain Lion off and Snow Leopard back on.  The Tech told me to

I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Then I found out it was not compatible with my HP Printer (HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one) so I called Apple support and the tech told me to erase the hard drive instead of going in the time machine.  Well I did that and then it took about three hours three days a week for about three weeks on the phone with an apple tech to get all my stuff back on my computer.  I have had trouble with my printer (won't do the scan anymore and wasn't printing on my DVDs.  Also the computer keeps freezing up when it is in the sleep mode, etc.
When I tried to list my problem on this forum it lists your OS at the bottom and mine had Mountain Lion listed as what I was using so apparently it didn't erase it.  Want to know how to get Mountain Lion off and put my Snow Leopard on so things start working right.

Go to the  menu/About This Mac - what OS version shows there?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

  • After installing Snow Leopard I can no longer "save photos on computer" after inserting a memory stick to an HP Photosmart C5180 All in 1                                                                                           Photosmart C5180 All in one

    Hello,
When I insert a memory stick into my HP Photosmart C5180 All in one and I try to "save photos on computer" the printer reads: "You need to install device software". This all started happening after I installed Snow Leopard on my Mac 10.6.8. Can someone please advise on what I need to do?

Typically it's a good idea to uninstall any devices attached to the Mac before doing an upgrade.  This prevents problems that can be caused by the upgrade.  Below are the instructions for uinstalling and reinstalling the printer.  I'm also going to include a link to the full feature software and drivers for the printer.  Let me know what happens.

  • HP Photosmart C5580 and MacBook Pro Snow Leopard wireless printer with router

I have a macbook pro OSX operating system and a C5580 HP Photosmart printer.  I have spent hours with netgear as I did purchase a new router getting my macbook pro to print wirelessly.  Whatever the fix it is temporary and my private tech has to take control of my computer to get to work again.
    1. am I printing with bluetooth? through router?
    2. what is happening whenever it gets out of sync and how can I fix myself?
    3. computer says "idle" but shows device connected.  I can print test page wirelessly, but not current document. Documents print when I connect with usb cable.
I felt I should contact HP since I think it is their problem though netgear has been very helpful.  I understand that I do need USB to scan, but shouldn't have to have it to print. We have downloaded all of the most current drivers and software.

Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).
If you loaded the HP software from the printer CD and unless your CD says it specifically supports 10.6 Snow Leopard, you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Now, run a Software Update.
Next, remove and re-install the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.
You do not need the software now since Snow Leopard has both print & scan drivers built-in. Scan from Preview or Image Capture apps. Scanning from the front panel of the printer does not yet work.
    Answers:
    1. No, routers don't do bluetooth.  If they are wireless routers they use wi-fi (802.11).
    2. I don't know, you have not told me enough about your symptoms or system.
    3. Same as #2.

  • HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install

HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install
Reinstalling etc does not work - does anyone else have the same problem or a clue as to how to fix this?

    Keith,
I got a C6280 and the scanner does not work anymore. I am for 6 days in contact with HP. The last printer driver install form the apple web site does not open the image of HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg because of an invalid checksum. The skipping of the validation gives and error in the install.

  • Printer says "sending data..." and doesn't print (photosmart c440 & macbook pro snow leopard)

Hi, my photosmart C440 printer suddenly stopped working and wont print. The message says "Sending data..." forever but never prints. The printer is on but doesn't respond to what my computer says. I have a macbook pro snow leopard OS. This has never happened before, I didn't make any changes to the system. When the problem first appeared, I reinstalled the driver and was able to print once, then it stopped working. Then I installed snow leopard and it stil doesn't work.
    Thank you!

    Let's reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

  • HP Photosmart not printing with Snow Leopard

I just installed Snow Leopard yesterday and haven't been able to print on my HP Photosmart C7280. Of course, I already had the software installed with Leopard, and the HP site indicates the drivers for the HP C7200 series is included in Snow Leopard. Further, it says I don't need to install anything, and I just need to "plug and play." But when I try to print, the error message says I need to install software from HP to make this work. So, it's all plug, no play. Any help?

  • Tiny printing with Snow Leopard and HP Photosmart C4280

Since I have gotten Snow Leopard on my MacBook, my HP Photosmart C4280 printer only prints reduced size. The HP test page prints fine. I have uninstalled the HP driver and installed the Apple software driver. Nothing helps. Ideas?

Hi Philip & welcome to the forums:
Got to ask if you're sure you have the absolute latest HP drivers from Apple....
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
And - also if you've checked for any problematic fonts (all languages) with Apple's Font Book (look in the Applications folder). Find and remove all duplicates also.
Start there to be sure all fonts that are in play come out with a clean bill of health.
Don't hesisate to perform wholesale deletion of old and/or little used fonts - be skeptical of anything that has come from Office 2008, including those related to an Equation Editor installation.
By all means be sure your 3rd party apps are Snow Leopard compatible

  • Onscreen Help Photosmart C6180 Snow Leopard

I setup the Photosmart C6180 All-in-One to my Mac that uses Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.   I want to access the HP Photosmart Mac Help to learn more how to use it but I cannot find that file.  In the Applications folder the Hewlett-Packard folder includes HP Scan, HP Uninstaller, HP Utility and folders Device Utilities and Licenses. The way I understand it is to use Apple Software Update instead of using the software (CD) that came with the All-in-One.  I did use Apple Software Update. The CD that came with the All-in-One was version 7.8.0.  Am I missing the help folder or did I misunderstand the instructions and I have all of the folders already?  If so how do I access the help folder?
    Thank you.

If you are using Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion and have HP software for pre-Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 -10.8 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion and had the HP software on your Mac before you upgraded - even if you did a standard uninstall of the old software or installed new software over the top of it) you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Now reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
Finally, download and install the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

  • Snow Leopard Vs. HP Photosmart C6180, Multifunction

I've a question, Who's the boss? the most advance operating system Mac OS X 10.6.1 "Snow Leopard" including HP printer driver (v 2.2) or HP Photosmart C6180, with scanner. I'm very disappointed. When will appear the new driver for scanning by mac?. Somebody have an answer?

I just purchased a Mac Mini, my first Mac. HP C6180 scanner wouldn't work either. The following link corrected the problem. Follow the instructions for scanners. I used the third method. Scanner works just fine from the Capture Image application, not the HP software. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01846935&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us &lang=en&os=219&product=1153494 Hope this helps others with the same problem.
