HP Printer Update 2.4.1 Released

Available via Software Update. Details in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669

HP has issued updated drivers and software for OS X v10.6 for many of its models.
A recent check of their support web site allowed me to download updated drivers/software and get full print and scan functions for my HP Photosmart C4680. Only wish I had known a little sooner.
Scanning was not supported by 10.6 when it was released in August 2009 and I had to jump through several hoops to get any scan functions to marginally work.
Now I can use all the scan software from HP and report that it works flawlessly.

  • Downloaded Printer Updates with .exe endings

How can I examine a Printer Update  file (which was downloaded with an .exe ending) to see what its contents are or what sub-routines it contains ?
One of them that I received by following a blue link, bragged: “it provides more than just Drivers; it provides ‘Full Feature software,’ as well:”
It was identified as: DJ2050_J510_1313.exe 1.4.1926.0 1/1 download size: 48.65 MB Version 28.8 Released 2012-10-22 and it fits both HP Deskjet 2050 Series J510a and J510c models. After installing it, I had to take it back off my Computer because all it did was totally ruin the “HP Attendant” Program which I had routinely used to check my Ink-Levels. I had to run my HP Deskjet 2050 J510 Series Printer Installation Disk all over again to get it back.
I still possess the file and I still want to see what's in it. [ Why? -- There's supposed to be a modern "Toolbox.exe" Program somewhere out there to check Ink-Levels. I already have such a program but mine is from the Installation Disk of the psc 1210 dated 2002 inside the Program HP Director; it also was included unchanged on the Installation Disk for the Deskjet 2050 in 2009. ]
My Windows 7, 64-bit Computer and a Program Free File Reader cannot read an .exe file to reveal its contents and I am not “hacker” enough to keep it from “Installing” when I try it. I just get a Box asking: Do You Want To RUN this file? For obvious reasons, I am not going to RUN and install it again.
Is there some Program that will let me inventory the Program's contents the same as if examining the files and sub-files on a Disk ?  LtCol
    This question was solved.

I would suggest the following: run the file, which will extract it.  After extracting the files Windows will prompt to ask if it OK for this file to make changes to your computer.  Respond No, this will cancel the installation but will leave the files in a temp directory.
Next click Start and in the search box type %temp%.  This will bring up a Temp folder, click on it.  Next click at the top to sort by date and look for a folder starting with 7z that was created today.  That is the folder tree where the driver was expanded, you can look through this to peruse the contents.

Just updated the latest Epson software printer update from Apple. Now all my prints look solarized. How do I get rid of the new update and go back to the perfect prints I had before? Help please. Wasting ink and paper at the moment!!!!!!
I have tried the printer with my laptop (not updated) and everything is fine. It's just the beautiful 27" Imac that can no longer print.

Might be a corrupted printer preference file ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    ~/Library/Preferences
    Click Go
Move the com.apple.PrinterPrefs.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac, restart the printer...

I get a message that says "This version of pre-release ios will expire in 7 days" What should I do? I am currently running ios 8 GM and I can't update to the public release version. I am stuck in the beta. Itunes will not let me restore my iphone or update it. PLZ HELP ME

Wondering if you have a current Backup on iTunes ...if yes you could put the iPhone in DFU Mode by holding the Home button while you plug in the lightning cable.  Then you could Restore the iPhone to Factory Settings on 8.0.2 and after a full Restore go back and then Restore from your Backup.  This happens every time a public release occurs.  Many folks on the Golden Master or otherwise in the AppleSeed program with a Beta version for some reason don't move to the official release ...then the software time-bomb hits and they can't upgrade.

  • Officejet Pro 6830 all in one - screen stuck on "checking for printer updates"

    Windows 7 X64 install
I ran through the entire installation process and while the printer will print and will scan - the printer is hung on the message "checking for printer updates" with a red x below that message.  I let it set all night and no change.  The printer is setup as a wired network connection and can be seen with any of the tools.  I have not errors on my system.  I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled twice without success.  I tried running a firmware update, but the firmware update states that I have the latest firmware rev.  I even unplugged the printer and plugged it directly into the wall - n o change.  Evertime I startup the printer screen, just hangs on that screen.
    Please help.

I have the exact same problem with my new HP Officejet Pro 6830 printer.  Please could you provide a solution else I guess it will have to go back to the shop as I only picked it up this afternoon.
Setup went ok and it even managed to print a couple of pages.  But next time it started up (with wired ethernet connection) this problem occurred and happens every time ever since.  (It is possible to use the printer for printing and scanning via PC, but the whole time its display is showing the "checking for printer updates" message.)
This even happens if the ethernet cable is not connected on startup (meaning the printer cannot be used as a standalone printer / copier either at the moment).
If I press the red cross (which I guess cancels the update searching) then I get a blue screen saying "B871634E" for a second or so, afterwhich I get a black screen with the message "There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On." and cannot do anything else.  (The problem is the same after doing a printer off then on - even when following the "hard reset" procedure already mentioned.)
On checking the firmware version via the PC utility (while the printer sits there "checking for printer updates"), the PC utility app reported that the firmware was the latest version.

  • Print of work order before release

    Hi,
Is it possible to print a work order before releasing it. What customization/changes can be done to do this ?
    Regards,
    Vivek

You can do that using standard t-code BS22.
After calling t-code BS22 double click on system status I0001 - CRTD – Created.
Then search for, so called business transaction ‘RMDR - Print Order’ and choose function Allowed.
I have just done it in my sandbox and now I’m allowed to print  shop papers for work orders in status CRTD but as per default shop papers should be printed in REL status please analyze possible impact before changing anything in BS22.

  • Printer Update 2.16 Killed Wireless Printing on my Epson SX600FW

I have been using an Epson SX600FW for several years and I don't remember having a problem with it until I recently allowed Software Update to install Printer Update 2.16 and since then I have been unable to print via wireless. I can still print via USB but I won't bore you with how much of a nuisance it is for me to have to do this but it is a major pain.
When I try to print via wireless, everything looks normal until after the document has spooled and then the printer window simply says 'looking for printer'.
In Preferences, the printer looks OK with a small green circle next to it but in the printer's utility, it states that the printer is not responding even though it gives ink levels.
I have tried installing the drivers from Epson's site - they are dated 2008 so I doubt they are the latest but they didn't work anyway. Even after that, Software Update doesn't seem to think that the old drivers need updating.
I have read on here of other people's problems with this update not just with Epson printers. Is there any way to revert to how my Mac was a week ago without doing a full Time Machine restore?
I'm pretty annoyed that an update has broken something which has worked for years.

    I have a solution
I have a workforce 850 but encountered the same problem. Here's the steps I took to fix:
Went to the printer. and printed a network connection report. (the printer should of course be connected to your wireles network). Obtain the IP address
    Turn off the printer.
Go to Apple menu (upper left on desktop) > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. Delete the print queue and remove the printer by clicking on the button under the list of printers. Click OK to confirm the removal.
Press the CTRL button on the keyboard and click on the white box on the left (where the printers should be listed) and click on Reset Printing System. (Note: This step deletes all installed printers on the list. You will need to re-add all printers installed on this computer)
Turn on the printer. Click the   button. The system should automatically detect the printer. Click the Add button and try to print.
If the printer doesn't show after the Reset, click the IP tab and enter the IP address obtained in step one
Your printer should now show on the USE pulldown menu. Click Add and try to print

  • Checking for printer updates

my new computer worked beautifully immediately after installing last evening.  I cut the printer off for the night, and when I turned it on this morning, I get a circular message, checking for printer updates.  It will not print, and I cannot access home on the computer.  Help from HP is not forthcoming, with no email addresses or telephone numbers for support.

  • When JDK 6 Update 7 will be released?

Is it known when JDK 6 Update 7 will be released?
I was looking for a road map of Java releases, but could not find it.

H-mm, is it known when JDK 6 Update 10 will be released? When it's ready.
If it will take about a year to release JDK 6 Update 10, this looks like a long delay.I don't think it will take another year, I'd guess a few more months ...
As I know there is internal "fcs" build of JDK 6 Update 7. Why not to release it?
It would be great to have JDK road map somewhere on web, at least for internal use.Why is it so important when the next update release is done? They don't add any new functionality.
And unless you wait for a specific bug fix to be released, they are pretty uninteresting releases.
The release date of Java 7 might be more interesting, 'though.

  • HP Printer update 2.7 causes inky disaster with Photosmart B9180

Just a heads up that installing the HP printer update 2.7 through software update creates a huge problem with the Photosmart B9180. After routinely installing this update last month, I finally decided to print something. It came out of the printer almost black and dripping with ink. It dripped on my hardwood floors and splashed on my hardwood cabinets. I was able to sop up the ink, wash and dry the floor and cabinet before the ink dried. I first assumed that the printer had simply failed after a few years of use.
Then I googled to find out that the problem had been experienced by others and was due to the new printer driver distributed by Software Update as v. 2.7 for a variety of printers. The update takes the B9180 driver to version 3.3.0. It was very difficult find the earlier version of the driver to install, but fortunately, I had saved HPPrinterDrivers2.5.2 from November 2010, and installing that version took my printer back to behaving normally. Now I get alerts from Software Update to install the HP printer update 2.7, which would of course, recreate this problem with the printer. I hope that Apple will stop distributing this update until HP fixes its driver for the B9180. Here is a link to the forum that first reported the problem: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-printing-and-scanning/Very-stange-behaviour-Pho tosmart-B9180-prints-with-huge-amount/m-p/879141#M20791
HP has not responded to these posts on its own forum.

I agree. But as I said in my first post, my HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One c309a continues to work fine. But I have had this kind of issue before. Last time in what I think was HP 2.6 update it was the c309a that lost the ability to scan (the tab disappeared from the print preferences for the printer). At the time I was advised that HP had messed things up. There were pages and pages on the HP support website devoted to trying to sort the issue out. But it took about a year for a further update to surface.
I am away for a few days now but will try your suggestion as well as a re-boot of everything on my return and then see if moving to Mountain Lion sorts it.

  • HP4501e "print spooler off" error after installing printer update

Motorola Android OS, getting "print spooler off" error after installing printer update... have rebooted both printer and phone to no avail... any help ideas?

    Loralee,
??  I am sorry the computer is not working.  I don't work for HP and cannot comment on lawsuits or other calamities.
If the notebook worked prior to an update -- and this is an entirely different can of worms and problems -- and you think that there is any chance the notebook is just in some sort of "tangled" state and not completely hosed for some reason, you can try the following non-lethal device reset:
Create a Restore Point:   Create a Restore Point – Win7 OR  Create a restore point Win8
If you are using a Notebook:
Close all your programs and shut down the computer
Disconnect everything (little Unifier for the keyboard / external mouse can stay)
Perform the Hard Reset for your notebook model
Boot the computer and log in
Reminder:  Hard Reset is just a device Reset.  The procedure does not wipe out your files nor does it destroy your Windows setup in any way.  This type of reset "clears the cobwebs". Depending on the root cause of the problem, this procedure can fix a variety of computer glitches.
This does not fix severe Operating System errors -- it is just a device reset.  It can fix minor problems that updates sometimes cause.

  • Recent Printer Update screwed up my fax to email option

I have an HP - Officejet Pro X476dw Wireless All-In-One Printer that worked fine, converting my faxes to pdf files and forwarding them to my email.  After I receieved notice from the printer screen that an update was available, I updated.  This morning, the lights were going crazy on my printer screen.  I hit the power switch and the printer came back online.  There is an error mark next to the fax icon.  It reads that the the server is rejecting the security setting.  I went back in and redid everything the same way it was... no go.  I can receive faxes, but they are not forwarded to my email.
How do I get rid of the update that caused this problem, or how can I fix it?
    All help is appreciated.

For the second time, I woke up to find the lights on the small screen on the printer flashing as if a pinball machine got tilted.  Tapping the screen wouldn't stop it.  I had to hit the power switch and then the machine came back online.  There was an error on the fax icon at first reading that the name was incorrect.  Then it went on to read that the server could not accept the secure connection.  When I try to edit the fax to email software on my computer the HP error states that it cannot be sent to the "to" email.  This is ridiculous.  It worked fine with the exact same settings for a whole year.  Then when the printer updates itself... it's screwed.  How can I get this thing back and working?  This is my business here?

  • Printer update from pop-up

When I clicked on a pop-up that said there is an update for HP printer D1300 series (mine is D1341),, the only thing that happened is that the pop-up disappeared, but nothing else happened.  I looked up the printer in my system but also saw no sign that an update was installed. So, I went to the HP website but didn't see a place for installing printer updates - only a place for installing software the first time. How can I tell whether an update was installed, or is there a place on the HP website for installing updates (not first installations)?
    This question was solved.

    Hi M156,
I would recommend performing a level 3 uninstall:
    -Launch your temp folder
    -Go to the 7z folder
    -Go to the util\CCC folder
    -Launch the uninstall_L3.bat file
I would then recommend reinstalling the HP Photosmart and Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Once you have downloaded and run the software, select custom install, and uncheck the HP updates.
    Please keep me posted.
