HP scanner no longer working with Mac?

My HP C4680 scanner/printer used to work with my Mac.  The printer still works fine, but after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6.8 the scanner is no longer working.  I receive a message - scanner not found.  Anyone know how to fix this to make the compatible again?
Thanks!

I have the same problem.
Updated my iMac 2 months ago, went to Europe, I got back this week, try to scan something..."No Scanner Dectected"
I reinstalled HP Photosmart Studio with HP Scan Pro, still the same.
What's going on Apple?!
I have an old HP Scanjet 3970 Flatbed Scanner that worked fine till the last update.
I have an iMac Intel 2007 model - Snow Leopard.

  • HT6114 HP Office Jet Pro 8500 Scanner no longer works with Mavericks upgrade

I have an all-in-one printer/copier/fax/scanner, HP Office Jet Pro 8500.  The scanner no longer works with the Mavericks upgrade.  Is it possible to get the scanner back in use?  The printer and fax is fine, but I really use the scanner a lot.  Please helap me.

The following link to the HP Support site indicates that scanning is still supported for the OfficeJet Pro 8500 using Mavericks but also indicates that "you may need to scan in a different way than you did before you installed Mavericks." • Firefox just sent a notice that it no longer works with Mac OS X 10.5. Is that why my gmail calendar keeps non- or dysfuntioning?

I have been experiencing constant dysfunction in my Gmail calendar on my Mac Mini, but not on any other computer. It happens whether I am using Safari or Firefox.   This morning Firefox sent a notice that is no longer works with Mac OS X 10.  Suggestions?

Your best bet is to get a computer capable of running the latest version of Mac OS X - Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8). This is the most secure option and will allow you to run the latest and greatest Firefox.
That is a pretty crazy suggestion just to update a browser! There is another alternative if you are worried about having an unsupported browser.
You can run TenFourFox whose purpose is to support older Macs.

Have I been hijacked? also sites that I use daily are clipped and entire pages are smaller than usual . see www.shockwave.com
If u are no longer supporting Mac users, please let us know in advance or at least post it on ur site. Can no longer use Firefox...

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Cmd+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
    Firefox > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
If you open about:crashes, you should get links to online crash reports. You could post some of the crash IDs for review by volunteers here.
Given the timing, another issue might be some ads or media in the page. There are some add-ons to block such things...

  • BB Desktop Manager no longer works with Mac Maverick - Need Help Urgently

I have been a loyal Blackberry user since the Government of Canada officially began using these cell phones. I feel, however, abandoned by Blackberry (they obviously don't believe that it is easier to retain an existing customer than acquire a new one). I'm using a Blackberry Bold (9900) with a Macbook Pro. Everything was fine until I upgraded my Mac operating system to Maverick; my Blackberry Desktop Manager no longer works, so I cannot sync the content (contacts, calendar) of my phone with my Mac, but that's not the worst of it.
I recently had a momentary lapse and exceeded the 10 password attempts to access my phone... this accidentally wiped my phone clean... and because Desktop Manager does not work with Mac, I do not have a way to recover my data. Rogers was of no help and had Blackberry updated its desktop software months ago, as it should have, this issue would have been moot. I do not know how or why, but I was able to recover most of my data, but I'm not sure just how up-to-date tha data is and am still going through it, but I'm having issues with some functionality.
I'm in the US for several months and have suspended my Canadian services. Prior to the wipe, I was able to use wifi on my phone to send and receive emails with no problem.  After the wipe, I can't send emails or bbms.  I checked my blackberry internet service and all email accounts are good to go. BBMs are another issue.  I need help.  Suggestions please.

Apple has ceased synchronization with Mavericks. The issue lies with Apple, not with the desktop software. To mitigate the lack of sync capabilities in Mavericks you can sync your contacts and calender on your Mac with the usual suspects (Yahoo, Google). Create a backup (archive) for Contacts and Calender on your Mac first, then create one of those email accouonts that allow syncing. On your 9900 and with BlackBerry provisioning enabled create the new or existing email account. See which email accounts can sync with BB, I know Yahoo is working fine. For Yahoo, get the Yahoo Calender sync (a few bucks one-off payment required), Contacts sync works off the shelf within BB. If you reset the 9900 you should be able to restore all data with BB DTM. Please note that emails you received during the 9900 reset and the date of restore will not be available on the device. You will still not be able to sync contacts/calender over BB DTM. I hope that helps.

  • Lexmark scanner doesn't work with mac os x

I have a problem with my scanner lexmark p4330. For two weeks now it doesn't work with my imac. I have the imac os x 10.7.5.
When I try to scan, my printer displays "the all in one driver did not respond" and in Image Capture it displays "lexmark language error".
I updated my softwares, there's one for lexmark but I can't install it and I don't know why!
    Can someone help me please?

Mmm. Not sure what's going on. Has scanning ever worked with the OS you are currently running?
A couple of suggestions (my last two I think as I'm running out of ideas ). I realise that your problems are only with scanning, but sometimes resetting the printing system resloves printing problems. I wonder whether it will help with the scanning issue given that Print & Scan are lumped together in System Preferences. To do it go to:
System Preferences>Print & Scan, Control+Click or Right Click on the printer on the left and select 'reset printing system'. All printers will be deleted and need to be added again using the '+' button.
If that doesn't help my last suggestion is to download the paid for app VueScan (which you can run in demo mode for free) to see whether it works or not. VueScan is very good and driving numerous types of scanners:

  • HP Scanner No Longer Works with Snow Leopard

    Hi:
I just upgraded to Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.1). I have an HP DeskJet F4280 All-In-One. It used to work great under 10.5.x, but now it will print fine but not scan.
*If I* launch HP Device Manager, and double-click “Scan Picture”, “HP Scan Pro” window opens, but I get the following error: “Sorry, scanner could not be initialized (Scanner not found.)”.
*If I* press the hardware “Scan” button on the top of the unit itself, the power light blinks rapidly for about 10 seconds, then reverts to its normal state, and nothing else happens.
*If I* launch “Image Capture” 6.0(424) I get this error: “No camera or scanner connected”.
*If I* follow the path, System Preferences>Print & Fax>Scan a window opens that reads “HP Deskjet F4200 series” and I click on “Scanner”, but it says “No scanner selected”.
However, “System Profiler” lists “Deskjet F4200 series” under USB High-Speed Bus, and, as already mentioned, the printer works fine.
Any advice to get my scan function enabled again would be most gratefully appreciated. Thank you!

    Doug,
Looks like HP just came out with new drivers today for this printer and HP Scan Pro is back for this and a few other models.
It is going to be very hard to figure out which ones are going to have the Scan Pro and which ones it will work on.
For me, I can no longer follow HP directions on deleting the Hp Device Manager and Scan Pro according to their document.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01846935&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en &jumpid=regR1002USEN
This is getting far too confusing for me and HP printers...
The Scan Pro for many models still does not work but now some of the new ones do...
Listen the HP Architect as he has the best info. Not even HP's website is as up to date...
Good luck everyone with HP printers...

  • HP 7310 scanner doesn't work with Mac Mountain Lion

I just tried to scan a photo on my 7310 Officejet All-in-one.  It tells me I need to install software for this feature.  I know I scanned a photo with this same setup before.  However I upgraded to Mountain Lion and now it's not working.  I tried to find a download but the HP site tells me all my printer downloads are installed.  How do I get the scanner to work?  If this is a common problem for people using Mountain Lion why not just create a download for all of us to run?  Or a patch perhaps?  Thanks for your help.

    sc00ba,
I am sorry you are having the issue with your software.
1.) Did you uninstall the software before attempting to reinstall it?
2.) Have you looked at this document to assist in the installation?

  • Epson scanner 2400 not working with Mac OS X 10.5.8

I recently upgraded my system to Mac OS X 10.5.8 so that I could use my new iPad/ but now my scanner:
    Epson performance 2400
    is giving me trouble
it keeps telling me to restart if I'm using SCSI

There was an Epson Printer update in Software Update not too long ago that totally hosed my Epson 1600 scanner.  No error messages like you are getting, it simply would not provide a scanned image. I had to reinstall the old drivers that I luckily had saved.  May or may not be related to your problem but I thought I'd mention it.
Have you deleted and reinstalled your scanner?
Epson support for the 2400 scanner is at the link below but I've not often been helped by anything I've read at the Epson site.  Maybe the drivers will help, though.

  • Is it true that IE no longer works with MAC OS 10.4.3?

Probably this is a well-known fact and not that I really care about it because I do not use IE on my PB, but today, as part of my system health checkup, I just started up IE (out-of-curiosity) and it came up with the following error message:
The application "Explorer" could not be launched because of a shared library error: ":<MacIE Carbon (Release)><MacIE Carbon (Release)><JNILib>"
So what really happens? Did the upgrade from 10.3.9 to 10.4.3 really destroys some run-time environments for some obsolete applications such as IE?

If you are going tob e upgrading to 10.7 you should be able to just upgrade, and then install future updates of Firefox with no problem.

  • Firefox 18 no longer works with Mac OSX v10.8.2 Mountain Lion

I have been running FireFox v17 with Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8.2) without any issues.
The auto updater from Mozilla requested that I upgrade to FireFox v18, but since installing Mozilla FireFox crashes immediately.
The browser opens but then does nothing. If you enter a URL and enter then nothing happens. It just shows a continuos blank screen.
I wanted to make other Mountain Lion users aware of this problem and wondered if anybody else has had this problem? Please Mozilla, check this bug and offer an update and solution.
I'm using Chrome in the interim, which I really do not like as a developer.

    Hi cor-el,
    Thanks for your advice.
I had already carried out the re-install and restarted the iMac etc.
This has not fixed the issue. When I start Firefox it opens fine but if I type in a URL and press enter then it does nothing. It is as though FF is dead!
I have repeated the steps, exactly as you suggested again, and nothing has changed?
This has never happened before? So I need to continue using Chrome, which I hate, until another solution is found.
    Thank you and regards,
    Sean.
