HP scanner won't work with Yosemite

I can't use my scanner (HP Deskjet F380 All-in-One) now that I have Yosemite.  I looked for the HP driver, but it doesn't exist for OS X 10.10.1  I need help, please.

Have you tried using Image Capture that comes with Yosemite. I had a similar problem after the upgrade and my HP was no longer supported. I switched to Image Capture and it works fine, lacks some features that the HP software provided but overall it works for my needs.

  • My epson Perfection V330 scanner won't work with mavericks

I updated to Mavericks and now my Esson scanner won't work.  I found a download for a driver on the Epson site but it doesn't seem to want to download - either that or it's taking hours to download.

    Hi,
As listed on Epson's site the drivers are available via Apple Software Update.
Ensure the scanner is powered on and directly connected to your Mac, then try following the steps below:
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=14551&BV_UseBVCooki e=yes&infoType=Downloads&platform=OSF_M_X7
Now try opening the Image Capture application within the Applications folder and check if your scanner appears.
If the scanner cannot be located yet try restarting your Ma and check for any difference.
If the same still persists try resetting the printing system, then try adding the scanner again as listed on Epson's site.
You may reset the printing system as following:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11143
Finally, if you still having issue getting the drivers from ASU try installing the package below and try scanning from Image Capture again:

  • Peripherals won't work with Yosemite

I switched to Yosemite in autumn 2014 and it worked. Since I moved house and reassembled my Mac Pro and all its peripherals I've had problems. Both of my Apple USB keyboards now won't work. They each have the same problem - when plugged in they show the cap locks green light but nothing else. My Logitech wireless mouse no longer works, yet the Mighty Mouse does. Most frustratingly, my WD Passport external hard drive with my Time Machine on it, is no longer recognised. I have searched the Internet and there seem to be literally hundreds of people who are suffering a variety of frustrations from Yosemite. I've tried a few of the 'solutions' based on the 'turn it off and turn it back on again' theme, all to no avail. Having bought Macs since the early 1990s, I've always championed their simplicity and reliability. My patience is being sorely tested by Yosemite. A cheap PC with the new Windows operating system is beginning to look like an attractive alternative, especially now that Yosemite is looking like Apple's version of "Vista".
Any helpful ideas would be very welcome.

Please post in the Yosemite support forum for issues with Yosemite. The link is here.......OS X Yosemite

  • Canon LIDE210 scanner won't work with 64 bit arch.

I have a Canon LIDE 210 flatbed scanner which is supposed to be fully supported in linux - for many many months if I plug it in, and start up GIMP to use the scanner plugin - initially it looks like it will work but although it successfully completes a preview scan, if I ask it to do a full scan of a page or section of page it makes abnormal noises, and ends up usually screaming as if in pain, and then the sane application hangs. This is if it is plugged in to a laptop with usb3 cable connecting the laptop to the scanner, and running 64 bit arch.  Yet the same scanner plugged in to a laptop which only has usb2 ports, and running 32 bit arch works flawlessly running the scanner in the same way.
I expect that the 32/64 bit arch issue is not relevant, and it is some problem with the usb3 drivers not being compatible with the usb2 capability of the scanner that is causing the failure.
I have seen some suggestion (from a Ubuntu forum) to "In the UEFI/BIOS change the setting under USB configuration, "XHCI Pre-Boot mode" from enabled to disabled. In some BIOS configurations this setting is known as "XHCI Mode". Is there a better way to resolve this since usb3 external drives and usbkeys work fine without this change on the same machine.
Does anyone have any experience with running usb flatbed scanners via a usb3 port, and if so is there a workaround that is known to work with this particular scanner? I have seen the thread at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=184816 which also did not lead to a solution.
It would be nice to find a way to deal with this although perhaps a newer linux compatible scanner that is equivalent to the LIDE 210 is available that is compatible with usb3?

    Hi Steve,
The Canon Australia web site is only showing v4.5.1.2 of CanoScan Toolbox for the LiDE35 (same version for Windows and Mac). There is no mention of v5.0.1.3 being supported by this model so this could explain the application is unable to locate it. The applications typically have a built-in list of support devices and if the 35 is not in this list then it won't work. Again with reference to the Canon web site, the LiDE 600F and 70 show v5.0.1.4 of CanoScan Toolbox. Later models, such as the LiDE 100 and 200 released last year, don't use the Toolbox application. Instead they work with MP Navigator or OS X apps like Preview.

  • Canon LiDE35 scanner won't work with latest CanoScan software

I upgraded my MacBook Core Duo (2006) to Snow Leopard this weekend. All fine except even after loading the latest Canon Driver (lide35osx7721en.dmg) and restarting, then using CanoScan Toolbox 5.0.1.3 -- I get the message "Can't find Driver".
If I go back to 4.5.1.2 version of CanoScan - it works OK! But the 5.0.1.3 software is easier to set, gives lots of choices - it should work, right? Has anyone tried this or can anyone comment. (I never got 5.0.1.2 nor 5.0.1.3 to work with Leopard either - but hadn't updated the DRIVER - now I have but it still can't "Find" the driver!)
Thanks for any comments here - at least I can scan - and sure, maybe I could update this 5 year old scanner - but it works great!
    Best regards,

  • I recently install Lion OS on my iMac and just found out that my Canon 4400F scanner won't work with Lion, what can I do to get it working again?

I am having trouble with some of my previously installed software before installing the New Lion OS. I just found this evening that my Canon 4400F Scanner will no longer work with the new OS. I need to know if there is a solution for this short of buying a new scanner? I am also upset that my Microsoft Office Professional will no longer boot as well. Anyone know why this took place?

If it will not longer work due to Lion, it's most likely becasuse no drivers for Lion have been released.  No way to get aroud it other than going back to Snow Leopard.  MS Office wont work if it is '04 or earlier becasue it is a PPC application.  Mac switched from PPC to Intel in 2006 and created the Rosetta emulator to allow companies to make their software compatable or allow users to buy new software.  After 5 years, Rosetta support was dropped, with the release of Lion.  No way to get this software to work with Lion.

I am trying to use my EPSON PERFECTION 1650 scanner with my MacBook Pro, software version 10.7.5.  The old driver does not work with Lion.  I ran software update, with the scanner connected, and it did not come up with any new Epson software to install.  Can anyone help me locate this driver?  When I googled Epson driver for this operating system, it says I have to run software update on the Apple and it will automatically come up.  But I have had no luck.  Someone help please?  Thanks, Chris

  • New scanner won't work with G5, Intel Core Duo

I bought a Brother MFC 420cn all-in-one. The printer/copier works great, but I can't get the scanner to work with the Mac. The scanner driver comes with a bundled software "Presto Page Manager 4.0," made by New Soft, Inc. New Soft blames Apple for their new Intel products. They told me to contact Brother. Brother doesn't have an update that works with the new Intel Mac. Apple doesn't have a solution. I've spent hours being kicked around, and nobody has a solution. How can I get this scanner to work with my Mac? Anybody else out there have this problem concerning compatibility problems with the new Intel Macs and periferal hardware/software out there?

    Hi Hefdog,
Considering what I presume are fairly radical differences in the architecture of the new Intel Macs, it is amazing how well most things work. And since the Intel machines are obviously here to stay, I guess it’s only a matter of time before all vendors provide compatible drivers etc.
Have you tried to run your new scanner from Photoshop? I found the ‘Acquire’ function worked, even before installing other drivers. And you’re not missing much in Presto Page Manager, unless it’s been improved considerably since an earlier version!

  • My midi/audio interface Edirol PCR 1  won't work with Yosemite and Roland have no driver update. Is this the end of the line for this device.

My midi/audio interface ( Edirol PCR1) will not interface with Yosemite 10.10 and Roland have no driver update, is there any fix for the problem or is the end of the line for this device.

Same problem here, what a shame as this has been my favorite portable keyboard for ages. Whenever I see one in a store(very rarely) I'll grab it.

  • Scanner won't work with one user but will work with another

Tonight I used my scanner and it worked fine.  Then a few minutes later I tried to scan another documentand it wouldn't work.  I finally logged off, and switched users (to Administrator) and I was able to use thescanner.   I don't know why it works for one user but not the other.  (This is very inconvenient.) What do I need to do to fix it?

    Hi Rustyintegrale,
    A couple of questions...
    1. Does the unit immediately kernel panic when power from the bus hits the drive?
    2. Does it happen in multiple users?
    3. If you startup, interrupt the boot process and boot to the startup manager (by holding option on startup) and then plugin the SuperDrive does it kernel panic there as well?
When a peripheral causes a unit to go into this state, there's little that can be done to troubleshoot from a software perspective. Especially if your answer to all three questions above was "yes." You can certainly try resetting the PRAM & SMC, to see if there is any change. But, I think the next best step might be to bring the machine and this optical drive to see a qualified technician.

  • Musket a3 USB 600 Scanner doesn't work with Yosemite

    Hi there,
I have a Musket a3 USB 600 Scanner that doesn't work now that I have upgraded to Yosemite. Does anyone have a recommendation as to how I can use it? As Musktek aren't helpful and have told me they don't have a driver for yosemite... is there a way around this? Any help would be appreciated.

I found this and testing now.

  • Photosmart D110 Scanner won't work with Mavericks

Since upgrading to Mavericks on my MacBook Pro, I can't save a scanned document, and I can't email one. I get an error message about the format of the document (and it's a document I've previously scanned and sent in a previous OS). Now, after trying to cancel the scan and the save, I'm hung up on "canceling." Can't get anywhere. Can anyone help? Thanks.

After being on the phone for 90 minutes with HP support, we came up with the following solution.
Download OXS 8 driver and software for the D110.  Then download this from apple, a fix.

  • My HP Photosmart C5280 scanner won't work right anymore. I always used it with my Picasa 3

For some reason my HP Photosmart C5280 scanner won't work with my Picasa 3, and it used to.  My PC is also an HP Pavilion g6,  with Windows 7.  I tried downloading a new driver, as the CD was too old to have Windows 7, and also updating my Picasa, but none of that worked.  I'm trying to scan an old photo.  I'm just not having any luck at all, and it used to work like magic.
    Thanks.
