Hp Solution Centre software will not install on windows 8.1

I have just replaced my old HP Laptop with a new  HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC and have managed to install my Hp Photosmart C4780 printer but am unable to get the software for the Hp Solutions to install. I have downloaded the file from the Hp site and it states it should work on Windows 8.1 but it extracts the files and then does nothing . I have run print and scan doctor about 10 times now but after many frustrated hours no joy. Worked perfectly on Windows 7 premium but doesnt want to know with WIndows 8.1

Hi,
Carefully follow the steps below and check if that may resolve the issue:
1. Open Mcafee software, from the Virus and Spyware Protection section click on Schedule and run scans.
Click on Real time scanning and then on Turn Off.
select Never and confirm by clicking the Turn Off button.
2. Open the run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type %windir% and click on OK.
3. Type hpoins*.dat into the top search bar, if there are any results rename the extention into old instead of dat. (e.g. hpoins1.old)
4. Type hpwins*.dat into the top search bar, if there are any results rename the extention into old instead of dat. (e.g. hpwins1.old)
5. Launch the Run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER into the Run dialog and click on OK.
6. Launch the Run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER into the Run dialog and click on OK.
7. Reboot your PC
8. Run the installation file and check for any difference.
9. Once you are done, be sure to open McAfee and re-activate Real Time Scanning.
Please let me know of any progress,
Shlomi

  • 3005pr software will not install on Windows 8

    Hi,
I am using a 3005pr port replicator on a Spectre XT 4010nr laptop running Windows 8
I was rupdating the software for the port replicator and the install prompted me to uninstall the previous version and I said yes. It had to reboot to complete the uninstall so I rebooted systems.
Now when I try to install the port replicator software I get the error:
"A previous uninstall of HP Port Replicator Software is not yet complete. Please reboot your computer and run this installer again to installation."
I've rebooted, powered off, confirmed the port replication software is not installed through ARP, confirmed the device is not listed in Device Manager. But still see the above error any ideas how to reinstall the software?
    Thank you

  • Laserjet 1320 Toolbox software will not install on Windows 7

I bought this 1320 for my xp and the toolbox worked fine. Bought a Windows 7 and the same software fails to install. Running setup and it says there is some kind of java error. i have java installed, use it all the time and it works fine. I try to install the software using other 'exe' or 'setup' files and it tells me to use the windows drivers. The printer works fine, but I want the toolbox to tell me ink level.
update: I finally found the "ini" setup and windows 7 is not supported. So, is there anyway to get new s/w for W7?

If you have a 1320n, then the easiest way to check your ink level would be the Embedded web server (EWS). Put your IP address into your browser and this will take you to the EWS. From there you will be able to check the ink levels of your printer.
Otherwise, toolbox is not available for the windows 7 OS.

  • Photosmart A software will not install on Windows 8.1

I have a Photosmart A536 printer and  Microsoft Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1-x64.
The printer is connected and I see a CD drive HP_A530_series with a setup program. When
I run it I get a dialog telling me to go to the HP download site for my printer. I went there and
downloaded the driver for my O/S, (A530_140_301.exe. The file runs but all that happens is
the same dialog saying "please download the driver from the HP website".  I have tried
redownload, reboot, run as admin, run in compatibility mode.
I went to this forum and found the suggestion to download the printer installation wizard,
hppiw.exe, and install and run it. I did so and it ran and said it was looking for devices and
then it exited with no action.
    Please advise.

    Hi @MKairys
    Please look at the discrepancy between the compatibility listed, and the description of the file;

Perhaps this would be helpful; Problems printing from Surface can be caused by hardware issues like disconnected cables, software i... I have a feeling though that this may loop too, it says it is compatible then advices you install the free driver, and takes you back to the HP website - A530_140_301.exe. I feel your pain, I am going in circles!
I don't think there actually is a driver for 8.1. You could try an alternate print driver; How to Assign Alternate Print Drivers in Different Versions of Windows.
Please let me know what happens if you try an alternate print driver.

  • MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows XP and 2000 -- will not install on Windows 7

MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows XP and 2000 -- will not install on Windows 7  in compatibility mode or any other way. I receive error " can not open \device\memory" and then " This program can not run on his hardware.
Thinkcenter E series 8291-ETU --- upgraded from XP to Windows 7 yesterday.
Any ideas on how to get this product installed in Windows 7 ?

I recently did a clean install of Win7 Ult on my X61 7676A24, and this is the only Lenovo software that I could not find a Win 7 solution for. However,
    1. I was able to load WinDVD8 upgrade (from Lenovo's Win7 information page) after first loading the WinDVD5 version that was the last good release for Vista.
    2. The Multimedia Center for Think Offerings is basically Roxio's suite for writing cd/dvd's, drag to disc and so on.
Since I could not load this anyway, I was forced to try out Win7's inbuilt cd/dvd writing - it works perfectly well.  Even better, Win7 natively supports an excellent ISO burning tool. So, I think if you explore these inbuilt tools, you can probably live without the Mul Cent for Think Off.

  • Itunes will not install on windows 7 home

    Any one had this issue
Itunes will not install on windows 7 home

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

I didn't try creating a new user profile. Not sure I completely understand what you're suggesting. I dont't want a new/different profile. I just want to be able to install the update.

  • CS3 will not install on Windows 7, 64-bit. No error message. Just stops installing.

CS3 will not install on Windows 7, 64-bit. No error message. Just stops installing. This is a brand new machine. This is one of the first things I'm installing on it. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The disks are fine. I have the programs installed on my two XP machines. When I run the disk, I get the window pop up that says "Initializing Installation for Adobe Creative Suite 3". Then the disk stops spinning and nothing else happens. No error message. Nothing else happens. I'm baffled. I have searched several discussion boards and cannot find anybody that has had a similar install issue like this.

Old_Timer I would recommend reviewing your install logs to determine the exact error message.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the logs at Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-installation-install-logs-cs3.html.

  • ITunes 11.1.4 will not install properly - windows 8.1, 64 bit.  My only way to recover is to restore my system.  iTunes 11.1.3.8 functions properly.  When will Apply provide a workable update?

iTunes 11.1.4 will not install properly - windows 8.1, 64 bit.  The only way I have found to recover is to restore my system.  I have unistalled/reintalled iTunes two times.  No success.  iTunes 11.1.3.8 functions properly (following system restore).  When is Apply expected to provide a workable update?

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:
