HP Solutions Center stopped Working on Windows 8

I have been using HP 3210 all in one printer for quite some time on Windows 8. All of the sudden earlier this week or last, I noticed the Solutions Center no longer worked. A message comes up saying the device software has not installed correctly. I have tried reinstalling the entier software, but get the same response. Any ideas of why it was working and now all of the sudden it does not. the printer still prints out fine, just can't use the solutions center.

Hey @BOWZ,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today in resolving the error with HP Solutions Center 'Device Software has not installed correctly' with your HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-One. Being that you're running Windows 8 there is a good chance that if this was working for a period and suddenly stopped working a Windows Update most likely caused the conflict. Now I know you have already tried reinstalling your software and that failed to resolve anything. I'm going to offer a few more steps here to get your Solutions Center software up and running again.
Step 1: Uninstall your HP Software:
Open your start screen by either clicking on the Windows start button on the bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting your Windows button on the bottom left hand corner of your keyboard to the right of the Ctrl button
Once your Start screen opens just type 'programs and features' and the Programs and Features option should automatically populate. Should it not show as an option then you may need to select 'Settings' on the right hand side and then choose 'Programs and Features'
Once Programs and Features launches a list of all the programs installed on your computer will populate. Locate the HP Photosmart C3210 software and uninstall it. Note: you should see a file that says 'HP Photosmart 3210 basic driver' and one that shows 'Solutions Center,' ensure that they are removed from your computer.
Once the HP Software is uninstalled then reboot your computer
Step 2: Empty your Temp Files:
When your computer comes back on, reopen your Start screen and type 'Run'
Select the Run box and then type in the run box %temp% and select OK
When the Temp folder opens select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard to select everything in the Temp folder
Next release Ctrl + A and select Delete on your keyboard
Almost everything should delete out of this Temp folder. If any files are still being used on your computer you will have the pop up to 'skip' these.
Note: Only Temporary files are being deleted. No files or folders for your actual computer will be removed by doing this.
   6. Once the files in the Temp folder have been deleted then close the folder
   7. Right click on your Recycling Bin on your Desktop and left click on 'Empty Recycling Bin'
Step 3: Run an MSCONFIG Selective Startup:
Reopen your Run box again and this time type msconfig and select OK
When the System Configuration Utility opens select 'Selective Startup' and uncheck 'Load Startup Items'
Click on the Services tab at the top and uncheck 'Hide all Microsoft Services' at the very bottom
Select Disable All on the right hand side
Select Apply and OK
When prompted, restart your computer 1 more time
Step 4: Reinstall your Software and Drivers:
You're now ready to reinstall your HP Software and Drivers. Please select this link: HP Photosmart and Officejet Full Feature Software and Drivers for your drivers.
Select Download and Run the HP installer when prompted
Follow the on screen instructions to complete the install of your HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-One.
Does Solutions Center work now?
If yes, please re-enable your Startup Services again.
How to Enable Startup Services:
Open the Run box and type msconfig and select OK
When System Configuration Utility opens select 'Normal Startup'
Select Apply and OK
Restart your computer again when prompted
Please let me know if these steps resolve your issue. Good luck!

  • SOLUTION: Get Win 7 Printer Drivers/HP Solution Center to Work on Windows 8

Took me some time to figure it out, but I got it to work.
    First of all, the preliminaries:
I have an HP dv9700t laptop running the 64-bit version of Windows 8 Pro RTM (not the preview, but I assume it will work on Preview as well).  My printer is an HP Photosmart C7280.  If you have a different printer, it is possible that something similar to how I solved my problem will help you, especially by running your installation files in Windows 7 Compatibility Mode.
Windows 8 does come with stock C7280 printer drivers that work by going into Control Panel>Devices and Printers>Add A Printer, but there's only limited functionality with those.  As such, I wanted to run the HP installation files to have increased functionality.
Unfortunately, when I ran the full installation file from HP for my printer, there was no "Install a Printer" button, or any of the other usual buttons.  There was only an "Exit" button.
Here's how to get it to run and install properly.
Right-click on the HP Full Installation file, then Properties>Compatibility>then check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", then select "Windows 7" in the dropdown box, then Click "OK".
Run the installation file as you normally would in Windows 7.
I tried this two ways.....the first while connected via USB cable.  It worked just fine with no errors.
I also tried it with the printer connected to my network via WiFi.  Ran into some problems.
The installation program would detect my printer just fine, and I clicked "Next" or "OK" or whatever the prompt was to install the printer.  The installation would hang on "Reply from SNMP" (or something similar) and it would list the IP address of my printer.  I waited, waited, waited for an hour, and it wouldn't get past this.  Not to worry.
Proceed with normal installation until you get to the "Reply from SNMP" message and the installation stops responding.
Enter the Task Manager with CTRL-ALT-DEL.  You'll see an entry in the "Apps" for the HP installation program....LEAVE THIS ALONE.
Below the "Apps" list you will see the "Background Processes" list.  In this list is something along the lines of "HP Network UI", or something similar, consuming a significant amount of CPU.  Highlight this entry, then click, "End Task" at the bottom.
The "SNMP" window will close and your installation program will then finish normally and your printer/fax/scanner will be properly installed.  HP Solution Center works normally, as does printing, scanning, etc.
Will the next person who uses this give some feedback and also answer some questions for me so I can update this post with more specific information?
Please let me know what the exact "SNMP" message is when the installation hangs.  Please also let me know the exact name of the "HP Network UI" background process is, as well as the HP Installation app name.
    Hopefully this will help you.

thanks for the solution. I have an HP Photosmart D110a wireless printer. Windows 8 installed a generic printer driver that worked fine for printing but I lost all functionality to the scanner of the device.
I tried to follow your instructions. I do get an error at some point when the software installer tries to talk to the printer and it gives an error message. It finds the printer OK but stalls. The error message is different and merely reports that there is a problem, no further details. There is indeed a background task "HP Network UI" or similar but ending this task doesn't do anything on my system. The Network UI task ends and the error message stays open. I ended a couple more background tasks but it would not go anywhere.
I then uninstalled the entire package, unplugged the printer, turned its wireless feature off and reinstalled the software in Windows 7 compatibility mode. When it asked to plug in the printer to the USB it finds it right away, the installation continues and is almost finished when it stalls again. This time it reports that it has a problem again and needs to uninstall. Still with the error message and installer open I open the installed "Solution Center" and I can find the printer fine (it actually lists two devices, one being grayed out). It initially gave me an error message when I tried to scan something, but ignored the error. Eventually the scanner worked as intended. I force ended all installer tasks in the task manager and the Solution Center works fine and does all tasks it did under Windows 7, now in Windows 8.

  • HP Solution Center stopped working and HP Print and Scan Doctor cannot find my OJ4680

HP Solution Center came installed on my HP G60 notebook with Windows 7 premium 64 bit.  It suddenly stopped working--it says it cannot run because the device installation is not complete.  If I open HP Sup0ort Assistant it says the OJ4680 is ready and it is designated as the default printer in Printers and Devices but when I try to run HP Print and Scan Doctor it cannot find it--it can only find OJ4500 which I use when I'm in my second home.  Please help me fix this as at this point I can't print or scan.

Thanks for the help and quick response.  I haven't tried your solution yet because before I received your instructions I updated the drivers again and it appears to be working though I've had a message since then that I couldn't scan because my device was offline which was not true as I had just printed a document.  I used HP Print and Scan doctor and followed the steps which included turning the device off and unplugging it for 60 seconds.  I can now copy, print and scan but I still have the yellow triangles with exclamation points on both my PC and all in one.  I'm not sure I want to do more at this point since everything is working well at the moment. BTW my laptop is set for automatic updates by HP and Microsoft, why didn't they keep this problem from occurring?

  • HP solutions center stopped working for photosmart d110a

After using HP Solution Center (HPSC) for scanning on my D110a via wireless connection to my Win8 laptop (all current win8 updates installed) for many months it just stopped working. The printer is recognized in HPSC  but after selecting the Scan Picture button it times out with error "The scan cannot be performed because another computer is using the networked device." The extended error informations is 8, 0, [(18, -2147467259)].  I have downloaded, uninstalled and reinstalled HPSC three times and rebooted the pc and the printer each time to try and fix the problem without success.  I can see the printer in the Windows Control Panel and can print to it from all networked computers in the house, just no scanning.

    Hello again DocRocks,
I have a few other suggestions that we can try.
This may take some time to get all the ducks in a row but I think it may prove to be successful for us.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Once the printer is connected to the wall outlet, please do a proper shut down with the use of the on/off button.  This will do a semi power reset on the printer .
I am going to give you a link for Uninstalling the Printer Software.  Do a complete uninstall of the software and drivers and once it is complete, please restart the computer.
When the computer is back on, disable any firewalls or anti virus protection.  We don't want anything getting in the way when we do the new installation.
The next link i have for you is the HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers.  Save this file to the Desktop of the computer so that it creates its own icon.  This will make it easy to find when the download is complete.
While the download is taking place, we are going to move over to the printer.  On the front panel of the printer use the right arrow key and go to the Setup Icon.  Once in the Setup menu, use the right arrow key and go to the Wireless option and press OK.  Scroll through the Wireless options until you see Restore Network Defaults. Once the defaults have been reset we are then going to run through the Wireless Setup Wizard.
The Wizard will get the printer back on to the network and you will be prompted for a user name and password.
Back on the computer the download should be complete and you can now double click on the new icon.  Follow the installation instructions.  You will be given connectivity options and when you choose wireless, you will be asked to type in the IP address that can now be found on the printer.
This should take care of the issues that you have been experiencing.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909a - scanning stopped working in Windows 8

I'm using a HP Officejet Pro 8500 with Windows 8, connected via Ethernet.  I was having a scanning issue with Windows 8 when I first upgraded from Windows 7 a few months ago that resolved when I reinstalled Windows 8 completely, but now it seems tha the problem is back.  It was scanning fine until a few days ago, and when I tried then, the printer said "No scan options - refer to device documentation."  When I open up HP Solution Center, it says "HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Disconnected!" even though it continues to show me my current ink levels.  I can still print, but scanning does not work.  There doesn't seem to be any issues with how the printer appears in Device Manager and Printers and Devices.
Sometime in the last 10 days, right around the time that scanning and HP Solution Center stopped working, HP Update downloaded an update.  Does anyone know if this is related to my scanning issue, and more importantly, how do I get this thing working again?

    Hello,
Please uninstall the existing software, and then download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard from www.hp.com/go/tools

  • I can't open Itunes on my laptop. "Itunes has stopped working. A problem causes the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" is the message. what is the problem here?

I can't open my Itunes program in my laptop computer with windows 8. the message is "Itunes has stopped working. A problem causess the program to stop working properly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I reboot  the machine, Uninstall and re install the  Itune program, stilll the same message pops up.

The first thing to try is System Restore to take you back to a point in time when it did work. If that is not successful, create a new user on the computer. log in with that and see if ID will start. This will tell us if the problem is in the system/program or the user account.
If it works in a new user account, see Replace Your Preferences and in addition to replacing the prefs, empty the InDesign Recovery folder that will be in the same location and the InDesign SavedData file.

for a few weeks i have not been able to access the itunes store from the itunes on my laptop. every time i click on it it tells me it cannot access the store...not sure why. and says this: ITUNES HAS STOPPED WORKING a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available.

I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me.
    Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
    Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.

Same exact thing with me.  And no help from apple.  Just dropped nearly $600 and cannot get a decent working setup.
Apple's only suggestion was to uninstall iTunes and Quicktime, and re-install... of course (the I.T. Crowd tactic).
The crash happens only on iTunes store access.

    Hey Todd Rubenson,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iTunes for Windows unexpectedly quitting. The following resource may provide a solution:

  • Everytime I open itunes I get a message saying itunes has stopped working and windows is looking for a solution

Everytime I open itunes I get a message saying itunes has stopped working and windows is looking for a solution

I have the same issue. An iTunes help page (iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues - Apple Support) suggested I hold down shift and control when clicking to open iTunes, which opens iTunes fine for me. That would mean the problem is in the third party plug-ins that work with iTunes. However, the help pages did not say what to do with the plug-ins once I knew that was the issue. The pages said to find the plug-ins and move them to the Desktop, which I did. That's where the help pages stopped, which is ridiculous. Does anyone know what to do from there?

  • Catalyst control center stopped working

    HP Pavilion HPE h8-1287c
    Video card Radeon HD 7450
    Windows 7 64-bit
Error message "Catalyst Control Center stopped working......."
Two monitors connected, HPw2408h and TV. HP monitor is connected using DVI and the TV using HDMI.
The issue is that when the pc starts things run fine. WhenI want to have the sound to the TV I switch the Sound Playback to AMD HDMI Output and the TV now has the sound. After a while I will get an error message "Catalyst Control Center stopped working.......". When Sound Playback is opened the AMD HDMI Output is no longer working and has a red arrow pointing down and it indicates the AMD HDMI Output is "not plugged in".
I have download the latest drivers and still have the same results.
What is needed to correct the issue?

    Hello insco6750,
When you updated the drivers did you install over top of existing software or uninstall beforehand?
First we should try ripping everything ATI off of the system, including software, drivers and CCC. You should be able to uninstall everything through Add/remove programs.
After you remove everything reboot and let windows reinstall it's own drivers and software. You don't need CCC to do dual monitors so we can do testing without it.
Once you let windows install see if your HDMI output no longer works when you switch to the TV.
Post back your results after completing this.
