HP5610 printing partial page (intermittent problem)

My HP5610 sometimes prints only  a partial page.  It begins printing, but about halfway through the page the print head simply continues to go back and forth in the same position.  It does not advance.  I have to cancel printing.
This is an intermittent problem.  Sometimes it prints the whole page.
It has been a great machine and I hate to give it up.
Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Hi @Deb74 , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I can see you're running into print issues.  I would like to help!
Before we get started, I need a little info:
Are you using Windows or Macintosh?
Is it a 32-bit or a 64-bit system?
Are you connected wireless, or via a USB cable?
Are you able to make a copy without issues?
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Please let me know.  Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Canon Pixma M860 only prints partial pages

    Hi,
Thanks in advance for your assistance. I had to take my computer in because of several stalling issues, and had to unhook my printer to do so. It was working fine then. When I plugged it back in, the printer won't work properly; it only prints partial pages. I checked the ink supplies, and they are fine. I cleaned the heads, they too are fine. I tried to open the Solution Menu, but it comes up blank. Can you help? I'd sure appreciate it!

No problems with the response times. I just noticed a huge delay with trying to reply to you and I'm using Firefox.
Okay, to answer the three replies...
Question: after this, how will I know where to go to add my printer queue again? I'm sorry, I don't quite know where/how to do this? Do you mean I just try to print some things again?
I need you to add the printer queue again by opening Print & Fax and clicking the + button under the now empty Printers list. If the printer is connected to the Mac via USB cable then you can select the Default icon and then select the MX860 in the list. This should automatically change the Print Using menu to 'Canon MX860 series'. You can then click Add to complete the printer queue creation.
If the printer is wireless instead of USB then please let me know as the procedure is a bit different to the above.
Also, you mentioned that the Solutions Menu isn't really needed. I had just hoped the troubleshooting button it is supposed to have could be of some use in repairing my printer, but it doesn't sound like it from what you say here? If not, that's okay. Just wondering.
To be honest I've never installed the Solution Menu so I cannot comment on how well the troubleshooting information is. Since I feel I know more than these guides ever provide then I've never felt the need to use them. For you it could be handy but having read other Canon guides I feel that they can confuse the user more than help them...
They just did the Repair Disk thing and it was better for oh, about a minute. I realize that's not the issue we are discussing; I just mentioned it to let you know I'm responding as quick as I'm able, and just in case you think Safari's weirdness might be affecting the printer somehow.
At this stage I would say that Safari is not the problem but the sluggish operation you are noticing when using it could be an indication that something is using resources on your Mac and this could also be impacting the printing. In this situation I would suggest a Mac user to check the Activity Monitor. This will show you every little background service that is currently running on your Mac and one or more of these services could be the culprit. An example would be the previous printer software. With older drivers many vendors install services with their drivers to provide users with information, such as ink status, because the then current OS did not provide them. This is fine when you have that printer connected but when it is removed and you use a different printer, especially from a different vendor, then these services can cause performance issues for the new printer.
Okay, I'm heading home now but I will log in again after dinner to see how you're going...

  • Only printing partial pages

I have the Photosmart c4795.  I installed it wirelessly and it would only print partial pages.  I contacted HP and followed the e-mail instructions to delete and reinstall the software.  It is still only printing partial pages.  Note that when I reinstalled it I did not install it wirelessly.

I'm having the same problem happens nearly all the time.  I am using Picasa on a Macbook Pro and an HP C309A series printer.  I'm running Lion OS and the drivers are supposedly incorporated into the OS there are no more firmware updates.  We're all current - only started happening after I installed Lion.
I'm NOT IMPRESSED and will look for a NON-HP solution if HP can't come up with a solution!

  • My deskjet 9800 only prints partial pages

My deskjet 9800 only prints partial pages in 11x17" format. then pulls another paper for two inches of printing then pulls another paper for another two inches of printing etc. Other sizes work fine. Hello , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing partial print issues when printing from your Windows 8 computer to your HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this wireless printing issue. Because you are able to scan without issues, and are able to print from other devices perfectly fine I do not believe that this is a networking issue, or a software and driver conflict between your Windows computer and your printer. Rather, I believe that there is a wireless printing port (WSD Port) conflict occuring on your computer. Can I please have you follow the steps below to resolve this issue.  Microsoft has released a Hotfix to correct printing issues within the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems. This includes 'Partial Printing' and 'Printer Offline' issues. The printing issues appear to affect networked printers regardless of make or model and is a conflict with the WSD Network Port on Windows 8.1. Please click here to download and run a Microsoft Fix It Tool. Once the website opens for the Hotfix please click the button for 'Hotfix Download Available'. Please follow the onscreen prompts to install the Hotfix. Once the Hotfix has been loaded please test wireless printing again. If printing fails you may need to restart your computer for the Hotfix to take affect. Once your computer comes ON test wireless printing to confirm that the issue has been resolved.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!

  • OfficeJet 8500 Printer attached to Windows XP system via USB prints partial pages

I have an OfficeJet 8500 printer stationed at the desk of one of my users and is attached to her Windows XP system with a USB cable.  The printer has started to print partial pages and will not complete a full page of text or images, color or black and white.
I have attempted to reset the printer by removing power from the printer via the power cord, and holding # and 6 while turning the printer on (after reconnecting the power cord, of course).  The alignment process took place after this procedure, but it has not resolved the issue.
I have not yet upgraded the firmware from what was installed at the factory.
What might I do?  What am I missing?  Do I need to upgrade the installed driver on the system?  Is the printer able to be salvaged?  It doesn't appear to be hardware, as the portions which print are perfect; I just don't get the entire page.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

The USB to parrallel cable will work just find if you don't mind plugging in the laptop to the printer when required. If you want to modify Win XP to be able to print to an AppleTalk printer follow the instructions below.
"To install AppleTalk protocol to Windows XP
Required files: (Get them from any system running Windows 2000 Professional or Server)
    netatlk.inf, sfmatalk.sys, sfmmon.dll, sfmatmsg.dll, sfmwshat.dll, sfmpsprt.dll
If they can not be found you need to unhide hidden and system files.
Copy the files to their respective places:
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\INF\netatlk.inf
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\sfmatalk.sys
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmatmsg.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmmon.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmwshat.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRTPROCS\W32X86\sfmpsprt.dll
AppleTalk Protocol should now be available under the list of Protocols you can add in Network Connections - Local Area Connections Properties
This is only good using AppleTalk printers attached to the network. The AppleTalk printer will show up, if it's turned on, under Add Printer-Local printer attached to this computer - create a new port - AppleTalk Printing devices.
For more info see: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/s agadd_appletalkport.mspx (you do not need to capture the port for the printer to work)
If you can not get access to these files, make your email address visable in your user profile and I will send them to you."

  • Partial page load problem when using Muse in an existing non-Muse Masterpage; how to issue a jquery

Partial page load problem when using Muse in an existing non-Muse Masterpage; how to issue a jquery args.get_isPartialLoad().
My page is loaded into a palcehold within the Ajax update panel within the current Masterpage, so page loadload doesn't occur. But if my Muse page can capture  the partial pageload then I can tell jquery to run the Muse formating routine.

Jackie,  I am having the same issue and agree that it obscures our site analytics.
I only have the "WebMarketing" subscription - so I cannot see how often people visit my site (unless I just dont know how to view that).  Here is a screen shot of how many different locations I have and how much it affects my site visitor count based on the other locations which seem "legit" because they have more page views than visits.
I hope there is a way to fix or block this.

  • Officejet 4500 prints partial pages

My Officejet 4500 started printing partial pages.  I have tried unpluging it, and reloading it.  It will not complete an alinement.

    Hey @ACHO ,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.
I understand you are experiencing partial prints from your Officejet 4500. In my experience this means either the top or the bottom of the page is being cut off and not printed.
Here is a document that addresses that issue. Printed Text is Cut Off at the Top or Bottom of the Page
Hope this helps! Have a great day!

  • Oracle Apex partial page refresh problem in IE

    Hi All,
I'm using a button to refresh a region by enabling ppr .
On click of the button , m redirecting to url and the url target is as follows
    javascript:jQuery('#VH_SCROLL_EMP88').trigger('apexrefresh');
Its working fine in firefox and chrome but not in internet explorer. When I click the button in IE I just get the following
    [object Object] in the page
When I click back button of browser I'm getting the original page
Please help me to understand and rectify this
    Regards
    Sasidharan

    a) What version of IE are you using, this probably factors greatly in this question
    b) If you want to partially page refresh a region, it looks like you're using a sledgehammer when all you need is your clicking finger
    - can you create a dynamic action for your button that applies a 'refresh' action to your selected region

  • Printer only prints partial page

I have all new ink cartridges but when I try to print a page, I only get the top half and then it fades away or I get nothing but a few streaks.  I ran clean printhead, clean ink smear and align printer but that didn't help.

Hi kay567, Can you print a quality report. Make sure that plain white U.S. letter or A4 size paper is loaded in the tray. From the control panel home screen, touch the Right Arrow (), and then touch the Setup icon ().Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Printhead. The printer cleans the printhead, and then prints a test page.Review the print quality on the test page. Are all of the colours present on the report? Is there streaking, missing colour or text? If so some of the additaionl steps in this document here may help resolve your issue. Please let me know how you get on. Many Thanks,Francheska

  • Firefox prints partial pags from web why on left side only?

When I want to print a page from the web, Firefox prints only 2-3 inches on left side of page.
    I can print e-mail OK.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == 7-20-10

    '''"I can print e-mail OK. "'''
Web mail through Firefox, or using a different email program?
    See this:
Also, check the margin setting in File > Page Setup. An excessively large right margin setting can cause something like that.

  • Crystal 2008 printing partial pages

When printing from the Crystal 2008 Report Viewer, some printers do not print the entire pages (approximately 1/8 of each page prints).  When printing directly to the printer, the entire page prints.
I have version 12.0.1100.0 of the Report Viewer.  I've had this problem reported on HP LaserJet 4, 4000, and 2300L printers.  I have not been able to duplicate this problem, but I am running in a development environment and I suspect this makes a difference.
Has anyone else seen this problem or have some ideas for me?

It may be those that don't work are using a different version of the print drivers.
Get them to download the latest and test again. Or tell them to use the exact same ones you are using.
    Thank you

  • Envy 4507 - printing partial pages

I've just got this printer and having a torturous experience trying to print out a PDF document.  It printed the whole thing but random pages were merged.  I then tried to parint these pages individually...some do, some it only prints half a page and stops in the printer. I have reinstalled software, turned the compter off and on, used the doctor, used the usb and wireless... Doctor says all is ok... I'm using windows 10.  I am on page 33 of a 67 page document and have a pile of papers I cannot use and have been at it for at least two hours so far... Any advice would be appreciated...

I am having the same relative problem... We are trying to print from Microsoft Publisher 2010. It gets about half way through the first page and stops. It is hung on the "Now Printing" with the spinning circle. Every minute or two, you can hear the printer jot down a couple lines than stops again. After about 5 minutes it spits out the rest of the pages blank.
I've done the first two recommendations; Plugged it directly into the wall and downloaded and ran the Print and Scan Doctor. No errors were given to me and it says everything is fine.
Pages come out perfectly fine when I run the test pages and print from Microsoft Word 2010. Is there something wrong with Publisher and HP working together?
    Thanks for your help.
Update: I found a printer USB cord and tried this, because I thought maybe the wireless was dropping out on me. This didn't work either. I decided to use a work around by saving the file as a PDF. I successfully printed the Publisher work through Adobe Reader.
It's definitely a Microsoft Publisher issue (at least for me). I'll see if maybe it's not up to date, but otherwise, this may be an issue that pops up again for other users. Best of luck, and thanks for the previous post. I'm keeping the Doctor application and leaving it plugged into the wall so I can eliminate any other future issues.

  • How to print partial pages of Quicken checks to my Canon MX860?

My iMac and Quicken 2007 will only print checks from the bottom tray.  This works fine for 3-check pages, but when I have one or two checks to print, the option which other printers use of printing these checks using the rear tray is not available.  I have to Scotch Tape the single or double checks to a piece of blank paper.

    Hi.
I did try using the printParams feature and it worked, but since I need to be able to print sets of non-consecutive pages,  I end up having to bring up the print dialogue multiple times and have the user set watermarks each time.
I decided to just create a new pdf in a temp directory containing the selected pages and open this document in a new window.  This works well and allows them to use the print button on the window to print, bringing up the print dialogue just once.  However, since I need to open the document in a way that shows the print button, I am using OpenInWindowEx, with AV_DOC_VIEW, and the option PDUseBookmarks or PDUseThumbs, rather than PDUseNone.  This displays a toolbar which also includes icons for creating a new pdf, deleting pages, etc.  I do not really want to include these icons on the toolbar.  Is there a way to remove unwanted icons from the toolbar, or make them invisible?
Hope this makes sense.  Thanks for your help.
    Mary

  • J6400 prints partial page, then shows `Print Cancelled'

My wife and I have identical Dell computers purchased at the same time.  I installed the HP Solution Center to both computers the same night.  We have a wired network through our cable modem.
She can print just fine.  When I try the same document (or picture) from my computer, I get about 2/3 of a page, the printer display briefly shows `Print cancelled', and the paper spits the rest of the way out.
I have not tried a full uninstall / re-install of the printer.  Is there anything I can try first?
    Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I would certainly try reinstalling the Full Feature Software, particularly if it has been a while since the initial installation.
    =====================================================
You might try restarting everything, including the Router.
    If no joy:
    Create a Restore Point:
Restore Point XP  OR  Create a Restore Point – Win7  OR  Create a restore point Win8
Control Panel > set icon view > Programs and Features >
Scroll down, find the Printer program > Right-Click on the program > Uninstall
Repeat these steps for each occurrence of your printer's name until none remain in the list.
Restart / Reboot the computer and log in
Install Full Feature Software – Printer

It has been a few weeks since this surfaced -- you can check:
