HR infotype log in PCL4 and overall performance
Hi there,
There has been a few threads about PCL4 performance with regards to reading, but I have a slightly different question:
We are working on an export program for HR masterdata and are considering using logging in PCL4 to be able to export only changed fields in the infotypes. To achieve this we need to add quite alot of extra fields and infotypes to the configuration in the IMG.
Does anyone have any experience about how additional fields and infotypes affect runtime and database performance of the system? How optimized is the system with regards to writing to this cluster?
It will obviously cause more data to be logged, and the database will grow slightly faster, but does it decrease responsiveness of PA30/40 for the end users? Is it possible to archive old data from this cluster? I'm guessing that it won't be a big problem, but any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Lars G. Gudbrandsen
Hi Lars,
Probably you would get a better response in the HCM section as opposed to ABAP.
Maybe you can use change pointers, and badis rather, to acheive what you want but I am not 100% sure the requirement.
Additional fields and infotypes don't impact the system negatively in my opinion. It wouldn't affect PA30, unless the specific infotype is selected and then provided if it has been correctly created in PM01 it should be fine, also depending how many fields you are talking about of course. PA40 would only be impacted for those transacitons for which the infotype is included.
As for archiving, I am not sure, but once again i think HCM forum is your best bet.

PS5 tool menus and overall performance
Hi,
I have a 17inch MacBook Pro, 2.3 GHz, 6GB of RAM, OS X Lion 10.7.2.
I have just reinstalled adobe PS 5.1 thinking it would solve a problem, but it didn't.
Right now, everytime I click on a tool in the tool bar, the tool activates fine, unless I have to hold down the buton to get the full menu for a specific tool. If I do need for example to get the Dodge Tool, and need to hold the Burn Tool in order to get there, the drop menu stalls for 5-6 seconds, than I can choose the tool, and then it stalls for another 6 seconds, and then I'm able to use the tool.
I have had a much less powerful computer which is running CS5.1 just fine (in this case even better!).
Can someone help me with this issue??
Thanks,

Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by keeping command-alt-shift pressed on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html
Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.
Does turning off OpenGL in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue? -

I've had a lot of devices through the years. With those years and devices comes a little bit of knowledge that may be of use here.I followed your guide and was inpsired to do these COD tweaks on all my Android devices (Droid 3 and Droid x2) will they also work?
More importantly have you exp. any issues with HD play back? I havn't been able to fix this at all. Its really laggy on this device.
Do you have a safe list of things that we can freeze as well? There is a desktop app that you can freeze in Titanium which pretty much disables the home screen..i.e. dont freeze it. Im trying to get rid of most of this bloat ware.

T400s Question of RAM and overall performance
I have a T400s. P9600 @ 3.53 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, Windows 7 64bit, 64 GB Solid state hard drive
Recently while writing my Masters thesis using microsoft word, the computer was very slow and had difficulties switching between Microsoft office 2003 Word and Excel. The Word doc. became rather large, filled with pics and files, etc. However working on other desktop computers with much slower processors and less RAM available I had no difficulties.
Furthermore, I used my wife's notebook, from another company, that has the same processor and RAM but operates on a 32 bit system and has a much better video card with 512 MB of memory with no problems. Also, when monitoring the system performance I never see the RAM operating at higher than 34% which the 64 bit system needs to operate. The last observation is what leads me to believe something is not working properly with my notebook that is only 6 months old.
Other than this issue this is the best computer I have ever owned, but I bought it mainly because it was ranked as the most powerful notebook in the industry, and I have problems with Microsoft office??
Is there a problem with using Office 2003 with windows 7 64bit?
Is this caused by the performance of the video card?
Or is there an issue with my RAM or Notebook?A few questions:
1) Has the performance always been this way, or is it a new occurance.
2) Which video card do you have? If you are using the integrated intel video make sure you have the most up to date Windows7 drivers from Lenovo, if that doesn't seem to help you could try different releases to see which performs the best, a good way to see if the video is the issue is to do something video intensive (1080p video or the likes). It is somewhat unlikely that the video driver could influence the speed of office however since for the most part these are non-graphic intensive apps. Another thing would be to try using the Windows Basic theme, if you still have issues it is unlikely the video card.
3) There are alot of factors which can influence memory usage in 64bit windows, keep in mind in most situations only 64 bit applications can access memory above 3gb. What is the size of the page file? If the system is reporting the full amount of memory it is unlikely that it isn't available to the system. 34% of your ram seems high for just the system since my 3gb system has 1.1 gb in use with firefox, aim, openoffice.org and all the lenovo apps and avira anti virus going.
4) What antivirus software are you using, has the system been scanned recently and have you tried to reproduce the issue with the antivirus disabled?
5) How full is your HD. Even with SSD's things slow down quite a bit as the drive reaches it's capacity.. 64GB is a little on the tight side for Windows7.

Hi masters!
Well, first of all I´m a Basis guy but I´m having a problem here regarding some infotypes to be registered. Well, actually I would like to know how could I start doing this since I have no ideia and they told me to make this task ´cause there is nobody else. Second, and the most importart for me, is there any kind of performance impact once I register those infotypes?
By the way, here they are:
0000 Actions
0001 Organizational Assignment
0002 Personal Data
0006 Addresses
0007 Planned Working Time
0008 Basic Pay
0009 Bank Details
0014 Recurring Payments/Deductions
0015 Additional Payments
0016 Contract Elements
0041 Date Specifications
0071 Pension Funds GB
0105 Communication
0171 General Benefits Information
2001 Absences
2006 Absence Quotas
I don´t really wanna impose, but I´d really appreciate if you give a hand with that. Thank you very much in advance!!
ByeV_t585A, V_t585b and v_t585C are the tables to maintain the logs.
use report RPUAD00 to view the logs.
Also there is performance issue therefore rather than logging the entire infotype decide which fields need to be logged and maintain the same accordingly.

IT008 not getting logged in PCL4
Hi Guys,
I was working on a program similar to the standard program RPUAUD00. This basically creates a report for any changes made in infotypes.
In IT008 changes made after 1st April are not getting logged in the PCL4 log. This is happening only in production while in staging its functioning poperly.
Are there any config settings or tables that we need to check in production to ensure that infotype logging is enabled for IT0008.
have already checked the table T585A, T85B and T585C and the entries for IT0008 are there.Hi,
I have to develop the similar reports as you developed. Can you please share your program with me? Thanks in advance. -
Infotype Logging on IT0000 - BEGDA not avalibale
Hi all,
I have been using infotype logging since a very long time. I noticed a peculiar thing which I had not before, since I never had this requirement.
Infotype logging does not allow logging to be performed on BEGDA ( in T585B table ) . Becuase of this, I am facing a peculiar issue.
If an employee is performed the same action(MASSN) with the same reason for action(MASSG) with different begin dates(BEGDAs) it does not get logged. A PERNR who gets promoted twice in a year will not have this recorded in IT0000 since everything except BEGDA remains the same to his prior record and IT logging cannot be done on BEGDA changes.
For example - this are the records in IT0000 for an employee
PERNR MASSN MASSG BEGDA
1) 00010000 Z1 01 03/01/2009
2) 00010000 Z2 01 03/01/2010
3) 00010000 Z2 01 08/01/2010
Z1 - new hire 01 - new position
Z2 - Position change - 01 Promotion
Infotype LOGS for IT0000
Record 1 and 2 appear in the logs. Record 3 does not get logged since record 2 and 3 are the same except for BEGDA. And since BEGDA is not available for logging, BEGDA Changes are not considered for logging.
has anyone faced this issue earlier

My solution for: Slow Installs and poor performance
So up until today, most of anyting on XP or even vista 64 ultimate was taking a very long time to install or copy from one part of the drive to another. Startup would grow longer and game performance was dying and only once ever did reinstalling the OS do anything. No matter what I did, nothing would fix the problem.
I ran multiple utilities (disk utility, disk warrior, tech tool deluxe, etc) but none said that there was a hardware problem. But this issue I was having (and I know some of you do) was definitely related to the computer. From my experience, I determined that there was no way this mac was perfect.
So I scheduled a service and repair at my apple store (under warranty). When it was done a few days later, sure enough, I was told that even though the utilities we users can use on our end to diagnose problems didn't find any problems, the hard drive did not pass apple's detailed inspection and was replaced.
In conclusion, I say that if you are having this problem, run disk utility and if you have the extra protection plan, download the Tech Tool Deluxe that apple provides on the support site. Disk utility may find some permission and disk issues but if Tech Tool doesnt find anything even on the surface scan, take it in to the apple store to have a Genius look at it. If it's not under warranty, it's up to you whether or not you want to spend that money. Overall, my computer both on Leopard and XP now runs just as it should.
Hope that helps.did not work for me

Safari hangs and poor performance in MBPR (Mid 2012)
Safari hangs and poor performance in MBPR (Mid 2012)? OS X 10.10.2 is up to date
Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If the Downloads button (with the icon of a downward-pointing arrow) is showing in the toolbar, click it and then click Clear in the box that appears. The download history will be removed. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
Stop plug-ins to save power
Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Follow the instructions in this support article. Any change?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photos, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference? -
Hello Folks,
I just want to know is there any standard program/process to capture the OM Infotype log or is there any way to capture the OM Log through custom program like we have RPUAUD00 for PA Infotypes.
Thanks & Regards,

Logging just exceptions and 'critical' TopLink info to the log
I'm trying to just log exceptions and other 'critical' info that occur within TopLink to the log rather than getting lots of SQL statements, unit of work info etc.
I'm running TopLink 9.0.3.5 in WebLogic Server 7.0 (SP4) using container managed persistence for Entity Beans.
If I startup WebLogic with the toplink.log.level=INFO option then I get SQL statements, unit of work info, JTS registration info as well as any exceptions that are logged.
If I leave the logging like this my WebLogic log will likely be huge and performance degraded from writing a lot of info that will never be used.
If I startup WebLogic with the toplink.log.level=NONE option then I don't get any log statements, not even exception info (although obviously clients still get the exception stack). I need to get the exceptions and 'critical' TopLink info in the WebLogic log because I cannot rely on getting the information from client logs.
In the TopLink for WebLogic 2.5.1 product the default logging behaviour was to log only exceptions and other 'critical' info to the log.
Is there a way to configure TopLink 9.0.3 so that only exceptions and any other 'critical' TopLink information is written to the log (and SQL statements, unit of work info and JTS registration info is not written).
Thanks. You don't mention which version of 10g you have but there is a bug in all versions 10.1.2.0.2 and newer in that usernames are no longer being inserted in the Apache log files when portal pages are viewed. It was somewhat hit or miss before, but good enough to get a feeling of what was being used Now, it does not even provide that. Bug number reference from Metalink is 5638057. It is shown as "Closed -- not feasible to fix", but will be addressed in 11.0
I am experimenting with getting this data a couple of ways. One, if you happen to use WebTrends, you can manually set the authenticated users field to whatever you'd like so I am using the API's to retrieve the username and the user company (organization) and concatenating them together.
The other option I am considering is a procedure call in the footer of each page that automatically updates a new table with the session id, username, page, timestamp, and whatever other information you may want each time the page is visited. This table can then be dumped to a data file if desired or left in the database and analyzed using a tool like Discoverer.

I amexperiencing a very slow log in's and speed to my desktop is very slow also. What is the cleanup I have to do to make this faster
How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?
Sluggish Finder - Bunch of icons on your desktop? An overcrowded desktop slows down your Mac.
Get rid of needless Finder calculations - Open a window in Finder/View/Show View Options: ensure "Calculate All Sizes" option is unchecked.
Internet related - It's likely that your broadband connection is the bottleneck. You can check your speed on http://www.speedtest.net to see how fast your connection is. If your web browser specifically performs slowly, quit and relaunch it.
If browser remains sluggish, empty its cache.
Safari/Empty Cache
Firefox/Preferences - select the Network tab of the Advanced preferences and click the "Clear Now" button in the "Offline Storage" area.
Application related - Launch "Activity Monitor" - Applications/Utilities - click the CPU heading and see what float to the top. If an application takes up a large chunk of CPU and won't let it go, it could be dragging down your Mac's performance. Quit it by clicking the Quit Process button at the top of the Activity Monitor window.
Too little ram - max out your ram.
It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions. Which model Macbook Pro are you using? -
Article Listing and system performance
While creating physical inventory document, we experienced running each site for 25 to 30 minutes. With over 140 sites, it will take approximately 3 days just to create the PID's. We had consultants looking into our system and suggested that we could delist to improve the PI process and overall system performance. Through initial testing of delisting (WSP6), it did not help the PI processing time(creating PID's through MI31). So, I thought that we should archive site data only, but not at Client level, meaning delete all site extensions. Can somebody tell me (a) if this is the right approach?, (b) what are the things to watch out for? (c) can I list the article again if later we find a need for it?
Looking forward to some help. Thanks.Re-posting this message. Can somebody help?
Thank you.
