HT1171 How do I forward-delete in Windows using an Apple Wireless Keyboard?

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1171 says that forward-delete maps to but that key doesn't exist on an Apple Wireless Keyboard (as far as I can tell). Anyone know how to achieve this, as well as home, page up, and page down functions?
I've tried https://code.google.com/p/uawks/downloads/detail?name=Install UAWKS 2008.09.17.exe and uxsoft.cz/projects/awk, but these don't support forward-delete, home, page up, or page down.
Thanks!

Fn and delete works for deleting stuff to the right of the cursor, if that's what you mean?

  • Boot Camp 3.0 + Windows XP SP3 + Apple Wireless Keyboard

    Hello,
I'm using a 24" iMac (early 2009), dual-booting OS X and Windows XP, and I'm having trouble connecting my Apple Bluetooth keyboard when running Windows. I go through the Bluetooth setup until I'm prompted to input a passkey, but before I'm able to do so, the step is skipped and I'm told the device was installed properly. A few seconds later however, an error message pops up saying there was a problem during hardware installation, and that my hardware may not work properly. It doesn't work at all, and I've tried the regedit trick, but I don't have a "Widcomm" folder anywhere in my registry.
I've recently updated my Boot Camp drivers to 3.0, and I think it's worth noting that before doing so, the keyboard functioned fine. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    - Ben

MY problem is with: Leopard Snow & Boot camp; XPSP3; Wireless Apple keyboard and mouse.
Problem: I am a lefty. So on the OSX ( snow leopard) side I have my primary and secondary buttons switched. So I would like to have it the same way in XPSP3. I have tried pairing with the 0000 pairing code, letting windows choose, and with no pass code. Nothing works.
First of all, after it pairs, I get a mouse that has its standard setup, except that the right click (secondary button) doesn't always work. Then I go into the cpanel mouse settings and I click switch buttons and it gets worse. Both buttons become secondary buttons( right click). Its driving me crazy... the track pad works fine the whole time before and after the button switching.
I am also having a problem with the wireless apple keyboard. I can't get it to pair up and stay. It keeps getting erased.
By the way, while I'm pairing with both hardware items, this happens : After choosing how I'd like to pair the hardware item (either - no pass code, let windows choose my pass corde, etc), I then click next. It immediately asks me to to input ( mouse obv i cant) the pass code on the wireless item, but within a nano second it jumps to straight to the finish window (within the bluetooth wizard). On the task bar it tells me "harware.... successful" , but then the hardware wizard pops up asking me to connect to the internet : I 've tried canceling, i've tried one time, i've tried never and clicked through an it will load the hid driver for both and then it tells me "harware.... successful" again.
Yet nothing works the mouse has issues and the keyboard isn't paired!!!!

  • How do you page down or up on the Apple Wireless Keyboard?

    Hi,
I have an iMac 27" & I got the Wireless Keyboard.  How do I poage up or down using the wireless keyboard because there is no Page up or Page down key like on the wired keyboard?  Also, is there a list of shortcuts for the wireless keyboard & where would I find them?
        Thanks for your help.

Can't answer the page up/down query, since I only use wired keyboards, but, AFAIK, shortcuts are keyboard independent. Get them at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1343

  • Using an Apple Wireless Keyboard with a Windows PC

    Hey,
I know that this has been posted up before but i have read through the threads and followed the various instructions and i am still not getting any results.
I am using a Belkin USB Bluetooth device (Model F8T013) and when it all seems like it's going to work until i get to the "Bluetooth pair procedure" where it tells me to "Type the following digits and press the Enter key" but doesn't show any digits or allow me to type anything in the box anyway.
The keyboard is one of the new aluminum wireless keyboards and the PC i am trying to connect to is of a high spec and is running Windows XP.
If anyone could give me any help on this one, it would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Okay i've tried the keyboard out on a few XP SP2 machines and it works fine, it seems i only have a problem when it come to using the keyboard on a PC with Windows Media Center, I tried it out on 2 different media center PCs and it failed on both.
Has anyone got any hints to get the keyboard working on a PC with Media Center on?
Once again any help is appreciated!

  • How to disable "special" f-key function on Apple Wireless Keyboard in Windows 7

Hi.  I dual-boot my iMac using an Apple Wireless Keyboard.  In Mac OS's "Keyboard" system preference pane, I've chosen to treat the F-keys as actual F-keys, and not the "special" function keys, such as volume control and screen brightness.  This however does not carry over to the Windows environment.
I cannot find an option to do this on the Windows 7 side.  I've tried SharpKeys (popular Windows freeware key-mapping registry editor), however the program doesn't recognize the key being pushed (unless I hold the "Fn" key, at which point, it sees it as the F# key).
To reiterate, I'd like to know how to use the F1 through F12 keys as F1-F12 in Windows 7, without having to use the "Fn" key.

    Hi alexia416,
If you would like to use your Apple keyboard in Boot Camp with the standard function keys as the default, you may find the following article helpful:

  • How do you get the Apple Wireless Keyboard to accept function keys?

I use the Apple Wireless Keyboard with my iPad2 and I use the VPN to connect to my work-related software which requires that I use some of the function keys as actual F1, F2, F3,...etc.  When I hit F2, the iPad2 responds with the Screen Brighter action.  How do I get the keyboard input to just be F2?  Thanks!

Thanks. But I tried that and nothing happens.  I've looked though all the System Preferences sections and can't find anything on this.

  • Blue Screen of Death from Apple Wireless Keyboard in Windows 7

    Hi all,
Situation: I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit installed (boot camp) on my late 2008 MBP. Oftentimes, I'm plugged in to an LED Cinema display and work off of the Apple Wireless Keyboard & Magic Mouse. The Boot Camp partition / Drivers were originally installed from a Snow Leopard DVD. My Apple Software update reports that all my Apple Windows Software is up-to-date.
Problem: Since installing Windows 7 back in May, I've experienced the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) 5 times. Each time has resulted from a key press on my bluetooth keyboard after it had been sitting idle for some time and presumably gone into power save mode. Any key press causes an instantaneous BSOD. It only occurs when I'm running windows and I'm working off my bluetooth keyboard so it's hard to replicate and likewise hard to troubleshoot and determine if a fix has worked.
*Error Details:* Here's some information I've extracted from the BSOD dump files.

+The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ntoskrnl.exe+

I'm experiencing the same problem with the BSODs while using my Apple wireless keyboard (latest model).
I'm running Windows 7 x64 and admit that I bypassed the BootCamp software/driver installation wizard after it complained that my model didn't support installation of the x64 drivers. Its a bit of a gray area, as my system is 64-bit capable and many services and applications run in 64-bit mode without my intervention.
Just curious if Windows 7 x86 users are experiencing these BSODs or is it a coincidence that you all are installing the drivers creatively.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard with Windows 7 on non Apple Hardware

    Good Day,
I love the Apple Wireless Keyboard and it's the on I use when using my Thinkpad laptop as a desktop, meaning connected to an external Monitor and with an external keyboard and mouse. The Keyboard I use is an Apple Wireless Keyboard.
On my MBA 13 I use Windows 7 as my OS and the Apple lyouted keyboard works actually quite well with windows: The function keys perform very much like in Mac OSX with the volume, screen brightness, the fn+left or right for "home" or "end" etc.
Not I bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard to use in conjuction with my Thinkpad but all does features are missing. I guess that this has to to that on the MBA 13 the appropriate drivers where installed when the whole Bootcamp Software package was installed.
Since I obviously cant install the whole Bootcamp CD on non Apple Hardware, is there any way to just download somewhere the drivers for Apple KEyboards so the behave the same way as they would on a Mac running Windows?
Or is there any other way I could use my Apple Wireless Keyboard with non Apple Hardware the same way it behaves on my MBA 13 running Windows 7? Can somwhere lolely the Apple Keyboard drivers be downloaded?
I want to thank anyone who is kind enough to help mme with this mather in advance and please leave out comments of the kind that I it's my fault, I should have bought an Apple machine from the beginning. I have my reasons and If anyone can't handle that I kindly ask you to just ignore this post unless it's constructive and helpful contribution

After 3 frustrating hours of trying every tip on the net, I found the answer: Try this.
"This finally fixed it for me: Device Manager - Open System Devices, you will find a Bluetooth HID Device. Double Click it, open Driver tab and click "Update Driver" Select Browse my Computer, then "Let me Pick". It should now show TWO compatible drivers with exactly the same name. One of them is the Microsoft one, one is the non-working Chinese ****. Install one of them and see if the driver properties changed to the right (Microsoft) driver. If not, try again with the other one. For me, the Microsoft driver was the first one in the list, but this may be different for you. Wow, an annoying and intense hour of trouble shooting finally over..."

The issue is related to the Chinese version of the driver that the latest windows update applies that stops the keyboard from working.
I'm typing this on the Apple Wireless Keyboard on Windows 7 64 bit on my PC. Finallly!

  • Is the Apple Wireless Keyboard fully compatible with Windows 7 in Boot Camp?

If you have an iMac running Snow Leopard and Windows 7, will the Apple Wireless Keyboard work properly in Windows 7 (via Boot Camp)?
I'm asking because a friend of mine has an Apple Wired Keyboard that they want to get rid of, and upgrade to an Apple Wireless Keyboard. However, their concern is that the Apple Wireless Keyboard won't work properly (or reliably) when they run Windows 7 on their iMac.

I'm using an Apple Wireless Keyboard running Boot Camp and Windows 7 64 bit right now typing this.   Seems to run just fine under Windows 7 for me.  Some of the familiar Windows keyboard keys are not present, of course, though there are key mappings to get to those too.  I actually like this keyboard a lot, under Windows 7 or OS X.

  • HT1171 forward delete on windows 7

im using the Mac's wireless keyboard on my PC running windows 7. Which key combinations produce the forward delete?

After reading as many blogs as available I came across one by lesliebarry.com He provided a link to download a program Unofficial Apple Wireless Keyboard Support (UAWKS). This worked! People have to keep in mind that the Apple Wireless keyboard works differently on Apple devices than Windows OS computers. The UAWKS remapped the keyboard to make than similar.  Thank you Leslie!

  • How do I get forward delete to work on a PC w/ an Apple Wireless Keyboard?

    Hello,
I have successfully connected an Apple Wireless Keyboard to my Toshiba Portege laptop which is running Windows Vista. The keyboard is working fine but my laptop won't recognize the 'fn+delete' command to execute a forward delete. I've searched quite a bit online but I can't figure out how to replicate the forward delete functionality, which I use all the time, with my Apple Wireless Keyboard. Anyone have suggestions or ideas about other key combinations which may work or mapping software I can use on my laptop to get this done? Thanks very much!

  • HT3986 Does anyone know how to enable the "Delete" key for logging on the Windows 7 partition on the latest iMac, via the latest Apple wireless keyboard? Many Thanks

    Hi All
Does anyone know how to enable the "Delete" key for logging on the Windows 7 partition on the latest iMac, via the latest Apple wireless keyboard - the standard wired apple keyboard works fine via this key but not the new wireless keyboard?
    Many Thanks

Holy crap, this fixes the issue.  At least temporarily it has.  I should add that my issue was single finger forward/back swipe stopped working on the magic mouse in Firefox since Mavericks came along.  I have been fighting this since I upgraded to Mavericks a few months ago.  Thank you, tbirdvet.  You have no idea how much easier you just made using my iMac again.

  • How would i "completely" delete my Windows Partition?

    Hi all,
After a month use of windows, i am finding it more useful to use my mac so i have made the decision to delete my windows partition.
How would i "completely" delete my Windows Partition?
This is what i was planning on doing (Please correct any problems):
Disk Utility -> disk0s3 (windows) -> Erase (Zero out data)
Is this right or is there a more efficient way of doing this, i want to "completely remove everything in the partition, which is why i have chosen to "zero out" data.
    Thanks

OK. A normal erase doesn't actually erase the file data stored on a drive. Instead, it just removes the small amount of info that tells the file system where to find that data on the drive & frees up that space so that the file system can use it for data from other files. This is much quicker than actually overwriting the file data with some other data pattern. (There really is no such thing as an "erase" in the normal sense of "remove" or "rub out" -- all the drive can do is write something over the old data to obliterate it.)
As long as the file system is working correctly, this is all that is needed to effectively "erase" the file, since whatever data patterns that space on the drive contains is treated as if it contained nothing. Special purpose forensic applications can recover some or all of that data by ignoring the file system & scouring the drive, looking for "orphaned" chunks of data & reassembling them into files. (It is a little bit like putting a filing cabinet back in order after someone has emptied all the pages & file folders into the trash.)
The OS offers a set of security measures to prevent this, the simplest of which is to "zero out" the data by overwriting it with an all zero data pattern. If you are not concerned about someone recovering sensitive data "erased" from your hard drive with one of these specialized applications, you do not need to use these measures, which are time consuming.
