I have completed the steps given to me to have my iphone 5 no longer be disabled. I have completed the steps multiple times but my computer continues to say "The Iphone spftware update server could not be contacted." I have officially ran out of patience and I am in need of some assistance. I have never disabled my Iphone before and i am having some difficulties trying to get it restored. Please give me any helpful tips possible!!!!

What version of iTunes are you using? The latest is 10.6.3. In iTunes, choose Help -> About iTunes to check the version number. If it's lower than 10.6.3, download the latest version from here.

I have the same problem. Running Win 8 64Bit, updated to latest ITunes and now will not recognize phone or pad. Followed all advice from Apple (uninstall/restart/re-install, all in exact order) ... nothing. Spoke with Apple tech and walked through the whole process, but no resolution. Tech was trying to be helpful but has no way of addressing issue.

When I was updating my child's ipod touch with itunes....it put the ipod in recovery mode and said I would need to restore and then update....which was my only option to choose, so when I chose restore & update....after going thru it seemed the process, then a window came up that stated the ipod couldn't be restored at this time because the ipod software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable and to try again. Yes I have put in the correct password, its all numbers so can't get it wrong really.
It has connected before as has my iPod and that won't connect either. I have checked that they aren't on the blocked list of the wi fi. Managed to download the new version of iOS and that hasn't made a difference.
I have the wi fi plugged directly into the computer rather than the booster hub as the computer won't connect to it when its in the hub. I did get the iPad to connect to the internet when it twas in the hub but once I upgraded the iOS it won't accept the wifi password in the hub either.

Here's what you can do in case of the forgotten password:
Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to rest the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

Sometimes I have to click on Firefox icon more than once to start the programme. Multi-clicking on the icon does not always start multiple windows ie the programme just isn't starting sometimes on 1st click.
Firefox always opens when using a hyperlink in an email, document etc.
Have tried creating a new quick launch & also re-installing.
Happens on two PCs - 1x Vista & 1x XP

First let me disclose that I am not an expert nor even much less. However I used to have this slow as a turtle opening of FF until I got rid of my antivirus software which at the time was Avast. I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials and have had no problems since. FF loads in 3 to 4 seconds!

We were able to fix our machine! I just could not make sense of the error message, so we were trying non-Microsoft, non-Apple solutions.
Our Solution: Install MalWareBytes, and run a Quick Scan.
Even thought both Microsoft anti-virus and Defender were running on our Windows 8 machine, MalWareBytes found about 100 problems. As I looked over the types of problem and locations, I found several that referenced the exact directory referenced in this message. The machine had to be restarted for MalWareBytes to complete the cleaning, but iTunes installed afterwards with no problems.
