HT1212 wont let me restore shows code 3194

I have tried to restore my daughter's ipod touch as she has forgotten her passcode and it keeps showing error 3194 an anyone help?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • I needed to reset my iPod touch because my pass code was changed and I didn't know what it was, but now iTunes wont let me restore it what do I do?

Please help me!! I needed to reset my iPod touch because my pass code was changed and I didn't know what it was, but now iTunes wont let me restore it what do I do?

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it.  If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. Also, discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations. If you do not want to remove the IPSW in the original user, try restoring in a new administrator user. If the issue remains, Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • My time machine wont let me restore folders

My time machine wont let me restore folders it restores it as an empty folder after saying "copying 48 items - estimating time remaining" if I try to copy them manually it will either say it is copying them then ask me if I want to replace the existing folder of add a folder with the same name adding .localized to the end then it again adds the blank folder except it says "0KB of 64GB - estimating time remaining..." or "1 byte of 64GB - estimating time remaining" I have verified the disk in disk utility and it said it was "OK"
    Started Happening after supplementary update

I think this was fixed in the 1.7.3 supplementary update

You can't restore a backup to a phone that is running a version of iOS earlier than the version running when the backup was made.  Normaly this situation occurs when replacing a phone, and the eplacement OS is not up to date.  The fix is to update the replacement phone, then restore from the backup.
You could try an older backup made with iOS6.
Anyway, why do you need all your info on it while the screen is being fixed?

  • Ipod touch stuck in recovery mode and will not restore. error code 3194

ipod touch stuck in recovery mode, will not restore and comes up with error code 3194, itunes is up to date, please help

Hi @rchangel - Thanks for the ideas...
Yes - it won't let you install the 32 bit version on a 64 bit machine.
I've had a cursory look at the SP1 release notes, and couldn't spot anything vital - what critical stuff do you know of in SP1?
I don't want to have to go through all the pain of setting up VM's, reinstalling iTunes, getting all my album art back in etc. (though I could, as I do have Win7 pro). I've also heard that running iTunes in Windows 7 compatibility mode might help. Can anyone confirm whether that actually works?
I think it's in Apple's gift to fix this issue, given that they say that they support Windows 7. So far I've had no feedback from a mail I sent to Apple, and the number of users reporting this problem keeps going up and up.
I want Apple to recognise that there is a problem, and then I want them to fix it.

Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

  • My iphone4 is not working after I tried to update it and it wont let me restore it?

My husbands iphone 4 is refusing to restore or really do anything since he tried to update it to the new operating system. It just alternates between the apple sign, and the thinking circle.  I updated mine on the computer right before he tried so we know its not the computer settings. I updated itunes and went through the trouble shooting guides.  It was not connecting with itunes at all so I updated the device connector.  Now it will connect sometimes as an unknown iphone but will not let me restore it and says it is a (-1) error. What should I do? Apple support was supposed to call an hour ago and still hasnt called.

I had the same problem, I connected to a different computer that had itunes. It also was oneI never connected to before. I held the power botton and homebutton till it showed up connect to itunes. I opened up it tunes and it said my phone needed a phone software update, i folled the prompt and set it up as a new phone. Then i resored it, then put it on the computer u usually sync it on and restore it to a date the phone was working to, this helped me, if u want i can help u over the phone if u cant get it, let me know and i will send u my number over my email address, hope it works, basically i swiped the phone clean and reinstalled all software by taking these steps
