  • I have OS X 10.4.11 and I just got home with my new ipod nano and I need to update my OS! How do I do this?

I have OS X 10.4.11 and I just got home with my new ipod nano 6th generation and I have after searching threads etc discovered I need to update my OS! How do I do this - all of the posts on this subject are a bit out of date I think? I have a mac book pro 2.2 so I know I can run Leopard, I just have no idea how to get it...? Please help!

Check your Mac against hardware specs to find out what version of OS X you can upgrade to.
Then buy DVD for that version.

  • HT4623 I just bought an ipad form a friend. It says its up to date with iOS 5.1.1, but when I try to download apps it tells me I need to update to iOS 6.0 or newer but it wont let me

My friend just sold me her ipad she got Jan 2013. The software says its up to date with iOS5.1.1, but when i try to download certain app it tells me I need to update to iOS6.0 or later but when i go to the setting there are no updates. so how do I add these apps? The person i bought it from doesnt know what generation becuase it was a present to her.

The way you download older apps for the older, original iPad 1, as I understand it, is if you have iTunes installed on a computer, you purchase / download the new, current app, in the iOS App Store in iTunes on your computer. Then, go back to your iPad and go to the App Store app on your iPad and find the same app there and download it.
When You select app to update/download, a message pop-up window appears asking if you want to download the last compatible version for your device (if one still exists ) tap OK and that should be it.

    Syncing using the manual method
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
However, you can only sync music and videos .

  • I cannot download what´s app on my iphone 4. I first need to update my software. How to do this on my i phone 4?

I cannot use what´s app on my i phone 4. I first need to update my software. How to do this on my i phone 4

Connect it to iTunes on a computer and check for updates. Alternatively, if it's running iOS 5 or newer, use the Software Update function on the device itself.

  • I recently purchased a Hyundai Elantra.  My IPod will not load.  Other similar IPods will load.  Someone said I need to update my firmware.  How do I do this?

I purchased a Hyundai Elantra.  My IPod will not load.  Trying my son's Ipod, that one loaded.  The cable and the automobile software do not seem to be the problem.  Someone suggested that I need to update my firmware but I do not know the steps in going about doing this.  Will someone out there list them for me.  Thank you,
    Pat

Opoen itunes. plug in ipod.  It should let you now if there is an update.
If not, then click Check For updates.

  • HT6162 Need to update my phone. How can I do this?

Need to update my phone software. Where can I go to do this

Do you not have 7.1 already?   That's what your signature says.
If not, either do an over the air update by going into Settings app, or use iTunes.   Either way, you should do a full backup first.

  • TS1814 My iPad says I need to update iso 4.3.how do I do this

My iPad says I need to update iso 4.3. How do I do this

    You don't.
Apple only supports updating to the latest version of ios,  which is 5.1.
Plug your ipad into the computer you sync with, select the ipad icon in itunes,  open the main info Window and select check for updates.

  • HT1222 I cannot turn on my WIFI on my iphone ever since i updated my ios. How can i fix this?

The sad part is: the Mac Center in our country cannot do anything about the issue unless the phone is locked to the two major networks here. They only suggested to call apple's hotline or wait for the latest ios update. Unbelievable.

I have heard rumors that if you are trying to connect to a secured wifi network, and the PSK (pre-Shared Key) is too short, that the iPhone may not let you access your wifi.  Some people have resolved this by setting a longer key on their wifi security settings on their routers.  I have not had this issue, so I can't guarantee that will work, but it might be worth a try...

  • I'm stuck at the set up as new iPhone or from back up screen after updating to iOS8. How can I fix this?

It's updated but I can't get rid of the set up as new phone or from a previous back up screen.

Are you using the same Apple ID and password that has been used to set up the phone for the very first time?

If yes, did you try to connect in recovery mode to set it up?

  • Will the iphone 4s be slower if it is updated to ios 6

will the iphone 4s be slower if it is updated to ios 6

    To Whomever:
Wow, I saw this the other day and it got me thinking.  I don't know if this will make any sense, but I am going to give it a try. Please forgive me in advance as i am somewhat technology deficient, but trying!  There are many varied things that can happen with the iPhone, but I have also learned there are simple tweaks that sometimes assist in resolving situations. As when the phone is getting warm, for whatever reason unbeknownst to me, deleting my email accounts and then putting them back in again, helped with the warming of the phone and battery drain.  Which begs the question for me, is there anything we can do to counter the slower activity after upgrading to iOS 6?  And, if so, without shutting off every feature on the phone, would anyone have any suggestions of a prioritization of services that may counter the slowed activity to be shut down after upgrading to improve utilization?  Thank-you!

It depends on what iPhone you have.
If it's an iPhone 4S or earlier, click here.
If it's an iPhone 5, you need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, and that requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB RAM.

  • HT201232 My operating system is Mac OS X 10.6.8 and when I'm surfing the web, it tells me I need to update my browser however when I check for updates, nothing comes up. What do I need to do to get Mac OS X Lion v10.7?

My operating system is Mac OS X 10.6.8 and when I'm surfing the web, it tells me I need to update my browser however when I check for updates, nothing comes up. What do I need to do to get Mac OS X Lion v10.7?

Software update will only bring you up to the current level of the system you are using - you are at the maximum for Snow Leopard. To get Lion or higher you will have to go to the Mac App Store in Applications and purchase it there (Yosemite is free). You will need to check that your Mac meets the requirements and you should particularly note that PPC programs such as AppleWorks will not run in Lion or above.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Yosemite (10.10.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Yosemite are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Yosemite is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications). Mountain Lion can be obtained the Online Apple Store. (Mavericks is no longer available.)
If the problem is only with Safari and you are otherwise happy with Snow Leopard you could switch to FireFox (free) - the latest version of that will run in Snow Leopard.
