My ITunes will no longer open -- I get an 2 errors: "AVFOUNDATIONCF.DLL" missing and Windows error 7 (126#. I've tried reloading version 10.07.0.21 & older version from this past June but same, same, same. I'm using Windows 7 - 64 bit:#

1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

I've been having the same exact problem this morning, and from the looks of it a lot of other people are posting about this issue, so I don't know if it's maybe something wrong with the download but I'm just relieved that it seems to be that instead of a corruption issue with my windows installation. Thanks for the reply with additional information.
Recent history for Premiere Elements points to the program having problems when more than 1 video card/graphics card is
being used by the computer on which Premiere Elements is running. This observation may seem contra indicated by the fact
that you say that the program did work well about 2 years ago in the same setup. But other factors may have set in with regard
to drivers, drivers versions, and driver conflicts. But this factor, does need to be ruled in or out.
Can you disable one or the other card to determine the impact of this on your problem?
But, of prime concern with regard to video card/graphics card is the use of a NVIDIA GeForce card with Premiere Elements 10.
Even if your NVIDIA GeForce were the only card, Premiere Elements 10 will not work properly unless the NVIDIA GeForce driver
version is rolled back to about May 2013. This may be one of the major factors here.
a. Device Manager/Display Adapters and find out Driver Version and Driver Date
b. Read the background information for the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce issue

ITunes will no longer open

I have installed the newer version of iTunes, and it will no longer open when I click on the desktop icon, or use the Start/Programs/iTunes/iTunes. All I see is the hourglass for about 2 seconds, and then nothing. I have uninstalled and re-installed many times.
I have also read thru some articles here and have tried:
Go to My Computer\Tools\Folder Options\View and then choose "View All Hidden Files". Click OK. In My Computer, go to these files- local disk C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\apple computer\itunes\sc info and inside that is a file called SC Info.sidb and delete that. Check back to see if it opens after you complete that.
Still nothing works
I have disabled both Spyware and Sygate Firewalls ~ still nothing. I am unable download any music to my iPod at this time.
If you could offer some other suggestions, I would really appreciate it ~ or even if I could re-install the original version of iTunes, but don't know where this could be found.

Hi, I've just managed to solve the same problem on my PC running WindowXP. As a clarification: I do NOT have Norton Security etc. or Norton Anti-Virus etc. installed; my search on these forums have revealed that there are problems associated with the above progs. In any case, a summary of the problem:
*Installed the iTunes package which came on disc for my iPod nano. Upgraded/Downloaded etc, etc, per instructions.
*Upgraded to iTunes 6.0.4.
* Launched upgraded iTunes. It worked. I was happy. I fiddle around with my new, fancy gadget.
* I go to work and then return. Attempted to launch iTunes. It didn't work. Fiddled around with running programs. iTunes suddenly came to life. I was happy.
* I shutdown iTunes.
*Attempted to launch iTunes again, didn't work - mouse shows 'busy' animation with hourglass then resumes; iTunes doesn't start-up. I was unhappy.
*Attempted to launch quicktime, same result - doesn't start-up. I was puzzled.
*deleted the SC info.sidb file as you have done, attempted to launch iTunes and quicktime, unsuccessful. I was unhappy.
Solution (at least, for me)
* I decided to risk utterly destroying my computer.
* Uninstalled quicktime.
* Downloaded and installed quicktime standalone.
* Rebooted.
* Tested quicktime - launched, and was working.
* Attempted to launch iTunes - no-go.
* I scream "you shall not defeat me!"
* Via control panel->Add/Remove Programs, I uninstalled iTunes.
* Rebooted per on-screen instructions.
* Reinstalled iTunes 6.0.4.
* Attempted to launch iTunes - launched successfully. I sighed in utter, complete relief.
Some oddities with my install: I didn't select iTunes as the default player for my music files, I don't quite know how this changes things; I suspect it doesn't.
Anyway, I rebooted about 3-4 times to test if iTunes would continue launching. It seems to be working fine. Knowing how fragile software is, however, it's bound to fall apart again. Or maybe I'm being pessimistic.

I unloaded ITUNES and then LOADED it again and it still still will not open on my compuer....I click the ITUnes Icon...looks like it wants to load, then I get a window that says, do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer' I click yes, then the screen gets cartoonish...all icons get fuzzy..and Itunes still does not open. I have removed Itunes again, to get my comptuer screen back to the normal. What the **** is going on? It's always opened up just fine. Help??

I have tried many things to try and remedy this and will list them below.
Uninstall and reinstall the current version of iTunes, restarting windows at every step, making sure adminstation privaledges are switched on and correct.

Tired using another profile on my computer to install and see if that works.. but no!
Any help would be greatly appreciated! It is currently driving me INSANE.

I have already tried repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling, and installing an earlier update that had worked.

Quicktime or iTunes will no longer open

I upgraded quicktime to 7 then no .mov files would play. So, used the uninstall/reinstall 6.5.2 now neither quicktime or iTunes will open. I am on a powerbook G4 OS10.3.9 and have never had any problems. Can anyone tell me what's gong on? I first tried deleting any quicktime file from the hard drive and reinstalling QT7 before using the uninstall/reinstall of 6.5.2 now that I think back. Please help.

There are older posts on this site with the same problem. OS 10.3.9 with Protools hardware will freeze itunes and quicktime 7, the solution is as follows,

"Basically the problem has been that the new Quicktime freezes, and takes ITunes with it, when you also have Pro Tools loaded on OSX 10.3.9. Some have remedied this by disconnecting their Digidesign hardware, but it's a temp fix only.
Re-Installing ITunes will not solve this. You must go to your Digidesign Folder and enter your Digidesign Core Audio Setup then remove ITunes. At this point ITunes should work fine.
Apple has issued a Quicktime 6.5.2 Re-Installer for anyone who's havimg trouble with the new Quicktime. Here is the link

It will take care of the Quicktime problem, but not the ITunes problem.

Can you try this? Go to C:\Program Files\Itunes and double-click the "iTunes.exe" file. Sometimes the shortcut on your desktop loses the path to the program, this is a way of opening itunes directly.
If this doesn't work, well...sorry. I've no more ideas but at least we could rule one more thing out.

It sounds like you are unable to launch iTunes due to this error message. I recommend removing iTunes with the following article to get iTunes AND its associated programs uninstalled:

ITunes will no longer open on iphone 5.

I recently updated to iOS 7 (I have a 5) and updated iTunes to 11.1. When I click the iTunes app on my phone, it opens for a split-second and then closes. Not sure where I have gone wrong!

Itunes will no longer open on my pc

I've used itunes for years on the same pc, and was using it to download and burn music last week as usual.Yesterday I found itunes would not open at all no matter what I do. I've tried putting CDs in which brings up the option to burn or upload using itunes, clicking on the desktop icon, clicking on the programmes list icon and all I get is the egg timer, followed by nothing. I've connected my ipods and nothing happens either. I've tried cntrl-alt-delete but the process isn't running in the background (this was suggested by a google search to close down a background app then start again). I've also reloaded the most recent version of itunes and still nothing happening.
I've also undergone a system restore back to before the problem was noticed.
Using Windows XP and preferred browser is firefox.

I've have tried all of this, restart, even restoring the pc back to when I last successfully opened itunes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all the Apple software, including Quick Time.
I also restarted PC in safe mode, tried to open itunes there same result - egg timer then nothing. Removed antivirus sofware, no difference.

So, I upgraded Itunes today and it quite working. I redownloaded Itunes and Quicktime, uninstalled both and reinstalled both. No luck. It still fails every time I try to open the program. Any data needed?

For immediate notes, the link you posted worked. I'll go through the specifics to where I got running again.
First, of course, click your link. Next, you run through the test presented in the article.
1st create a test account. A test account runs the prog.
2nd Remove iTunes Plug-ins -> I did not have any
3rd Remove iTunes preference files -> I removed the xml preference documents. Well, I cut them out and pasted them into my backup files area.
Once this step was finished, I started the program Itunes again. It went into its setting preferences dialogue walk-through. Then it started up, with max volume. Warning, remove headphones before testing this step.
As a side note for this step, the last line reads, "The location for the two preference folders are:"
This isn't exactly accurate. Those are the folders locations, but what you want to remove are the XML preference documents.
