HT1257 Exporting photos with titles

Exporting photos for use on Windows through the Finder (not through Share) does not allow the titles I have attachged to the photos to be expored along with them. Does anyone know a way that will allow this?

Use the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option.  In the export window select Use Title in the File Name drop down menu.  That will replace the original file names with the titles you assigned in iPhoto.

  • How to export photos with titles in chronological order. Checking box for title and keyword doesn't seem to work

I want to export a group of JPEG photos including titles in the order in which they were taken.  Checking the box to include titles and key words seems not to work.

    You can not
exporting creates files - files have no order - the order is set by the program you use to view them - for example in the finder you can view files by the date created, date modified, size, alpha, etc
So to control the order when viewing in the finder you must have an attribute that the finder can sort on set - the most common way to export photos in a specific order is to make an album in iphoto in the order you want and then export the album using the sequential naming option of the export command - then view them in the finder using a alpha sort - Exporting From iPhoto
However since you want to retain your existing title that will not work for you

  • Export photos with original metadata

I have original photos that states the time taken and all other datas of my camera but once I edited and export from aperture, the new photos do not have the original metadata in it anymore. Is it possible to export photos with the original/master metadata?

How are you viewing the "metadata time"?
The file creation date is not the same as the metadata field "Date".
To view the metadata of an image-format file created by exporting an Image from Aperture, open it in Preview (the app that comes with OS X), run "Tools➞Show Inspector", and click the "Exif" tab.

  • Exporting Photos with Summary Information

I want to export photos with summary information such as ISO, F setting, shutter speed, ect. For some reason this information is not exporting now. I recently replaced my hard drive and had to redownload LR3 software. Does anyone know what setting I need to adjust so this infor exports with the photo?
    Thanks, Paul

Thanks Dorin, I was reducing the size of the files in LR3 which was removing
the information. I'm using Microsift Office Picture Manager to reduce the size of the picture before posting on Treknature. Picture Manager keeps the information, even if I reduce the size of the pic.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Iphoto - when exporting photos with their titles,iPhoto changes the manual sequence that I have given and imposes an alphabetical sequence

    Mac mini
Processor  2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 768 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
When exporting a group photos with their individual titles, iPhoto changes the manual sequence that I have given and imposes its own sequence (which seems to be alphabetical).  The export dialogue box allows me to use my titles or to impose a numerical sequence.
How can I keep my titles and the sequencing that I had carefully worked out?

What you are missing is that files have no order - you view them using a program and that program creates the order
When viewing in an iPhoto album you can sort manually and iPhoto will display the photos as you sorted them - but when you move to a different program (the finder for example) you have a totally different set of sorts available - for example in the finder the same set of files can be viewed in alpha order, in size order, in date modified order, etc - none of those are inherent in the file but are sorts set under the view menu
So to meet your requirements you must export with file attributes that allow the finder view options to present your desired view - which is what volunteers here have tried to help with - even though it really does not involve IPhoto in any way

  • Printing photos with titles/burning photos with titles to CD

I have taken photos that show hand positions for particular physical treatments and wish to print them with their titles so that I can remember what is what when I look at the photos in my notebook. Likewise, I would like to burn the photos WITH THEIR TITLES to CD so that I can share them with my classmates and have the photos make sense. Is there anyway to do this with iPhoto?

    Janel
Burning with Titles is easy: File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue choose Use Title under the Name panel. Export the files to a folder on the desktop, then burn that folder. This is certainly the case with v6, it may also work with 5.
Captions are more difficult. You cannot add text to a Pic using iPhoto, but you could create a document in Pages and very easily add captions to the Photographs there. Setting other apps as external editor would allow using PS or PE to add text to the pics.

  • Exporting photos with Iphoto '08

How can I export metadata of photos such as the comments using Iphoto '08? There only seems to be the option for exporting a photo's title?

    tr3der:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Where are you wanting to export the comments to? If you export a photo that has a comment assigned to it that comment will be written to the file that gets exported. Applications that can read the metadata will be able to see the comments as well as the titles and keywords if that check box is selected.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto incompetant with exporting photos with titiles

Has anyone encountered problems with exporting photos from albums hoping that the chance iphoto will do it with titles will work and only some of them do and or some times it does?

i did do that and it worked fine, something messed up in my user library im sure
First try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try exporting again.
If that doesn't fix the problem it could be another preference file, not iPhoto's. To check that out do the following:
Trouble Shooting Preferences in Leopard/Snow Leopard
1 - Create a folder titled "Preferences A" on the Desktop.
2 - Open the working Preferences folder, HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences, and move the contents to the Preferences A folder on the Desktop.
3 - With the working Preferences folder empty run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
NOTE: you may have to drag the contents of the working folder to the trash and empty if moving the contents to the A folder only copies them instead of moving.
4 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences A folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button.
5 - If the problem is NOT fixed, empty the working Preferencess folder and move the contents of the Preferences folder on the desktop back into it.

  • How to export jpegs with titles intact?

I am trying to share jpeg photos with my cousin for a geneology project (she is using Windows 7). I have labeled the photos in Apeture and given them a version name, and then a title (with all the people identified) but when I export them to share with her, none of the titles go with the photos - i.e. under "more information" the title is missing and only dimensions and device information is listed. What am I missing? Where did they go?

Are you trying to get the metadata included with the image when you export it or are you trying to get the metadata to display on the image?
If the first make sure you have the Include Metadata checkbox selected in the export preset.
If you want to have the metadata displayed on the image you will need to use a plugin like BorderFX
If it's something else post back and describe what you are trying to do in more detail.

  • IPhoto: Export videos with titles

All of my videos are in iPhoto, and I've added titles to all of the videos within iPhoto.
However, when I EXPORT these videos to my desktop, iPhoto doesn't export them with the titles that I've assigned to them in iPhoto.
iPhoto exports them with their generic title (such as "img_0015.mov") that they originally had when I first shot the videos.
How can I get iPhoto to export all of these videos with their titles intact?

Are you checking this checkbox in the slideshow settings pane?
which will give you this in the slide:

  • Exporting photos with editing changes

Hi, I am new to LightRoom. This question might be stupid, but I am having trouble exporting my photos and maintaining the editing changes that I have made. Here are the specifics: I made changes to many raw photos using LR on my desktop computer (Microsoft XP operating system). I then exported those photos, as raw photos and jpegs, to organize them within my hardrive and further edit at a later date. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro. I then copied those exported photos onto my external hard drive and copied them onto my MB. I then imported the file into LR and the original photos are there without any of the editing I did such as changing WB, sharpening, etc. I am wondering what I did wrong? Did I miss a step, fail to check or uncheck some box, or is this a issue with going between Mac and Windows? Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    carrie

One follow-up question...again, probably a naive one. Would I be able to tell the editing changes by looking at either the metadata or the developing tools of the jpg files that I edited in raw? Changes such as wb, sharpening, color boosting, etc. I am browsing through my jpgs and they don't appear to contain those editing changes that I speak of. Otherwise, Lee's answer makes sense to me. However, I am not sure if what my eye is perceiving is due to monitor differences. That is why I would like to see exactly if those changes registered.
    Thanks,
    carrie

  • Exporting photos with text

Is there any way that you can export photos in lightroom 4 with text on them? (i want the same text on all of the photos)

If you have a careful hand you can add text using the adjustment brush. Select the appropriate size you want your lines and move the exposure slider to the left for black text, right for white text. Sync to all the images. Also can be used for adding arrows, etc. Not an elegant solution but mostly workable.

  • I bought LR 5 on Oct 16, 2014. I just tried to export photos with watermark and it wont work. After reading tutorials and following directions, only a few photos out of 100 show up with watermark, but not everytime. Is this a bug and how does it get fixed

I bought LR 5 Oct 16 this year. Why doesn't my watermark work when I export photos? I followed tutorials and still it does not work. Once, a few photos out of about 100 exported with the watermark, but only once. Is this a bug? how to fix?  Also, how to I get rid of unwanted presents?

Are you exporting as JPG or TIFF or PSD?
Any other format (including "Original") will not show a watermark.

  • Exporting photos using titles organises the photos alphabetically

    Hello,
I've created an album in iPhoto 08 (v7.1.5) and re-named all of these photos. I've tried to export them to a folder in my documents using Title as the File Name.
The problem is that, when the photos export into the folder, the order I originally had is gone and the photos are sorted alphabetically.
I want to keep the exported photos in the original order as per the album. Is this possible?
    Thanks.

In the finder you can sort by a number of ways including date created, date modified, etc or you can export the photos form iPhoto using the sequential numbering option so that an alpha sort is the same as the iPhoto sort

  • Exporting photos with full meta data

Hi all, I'm trying to export some pics. I'm exporting them to a folder on my desktop, after the export I go to any of the pics and click CDM+I to check the info on the pics and it is showing the pic as having been created now, not when it taken. I would like to be able to keep the original data on the pic. What an I doing wrong ? I've tried several ways under file-export but always lose the date and time when the pic was taken, all other camera info is intact.. Thanks for any help.
    Randy

Hard to recall when I last so so much incorrect material in a single post. It's quite obvious that you have little understanding of how digital photography works, the relationship between photos, files, Exif and IPTC metadata and how a Photo Manager works. Indeed, you seem clueless as to how the forum works too.
There is no bug in iPhoto. Yes you do get out what you originally put in, plus whatever you added.
First misunderstanding: A File is not a Photo. A file is a collection of data. The file has a creation date, a file has modification date. Neither of these things necessarily reflect the date of the Photograph. Simple example: When you copy a file from a camera to your computer a +new file is made+. That's a simle fact. One file cannot be both on your camera and your computer.
To overcome this difficultly Exif metadata was created. This is part of the Photo. It records - along with a lot of other data - the date and time the Photo was taken. As you copy files this data is copied and so, even though the dates on the file may change the dates on the photo doesn't.
Exif is standard metadata supported by every camera manufacturer, every computer OS and any significant photo applications out there. Perhaps you should read up a little on it. It might help clear up your thinking.
Also an export might appear to fail when 90% done due to a volume error.
A volume error has nothing to do with Metadata, nothing to do with where you imported files from, nor indeed where the files are stored. This is utter twaddle. It's a bit like saying "If the children are in the back seat, the front wheel might fall off your car". Rubbish.
The Folder Structure of the Library - or indeed the one the files are imported from - matters not a single whit. A photo app gets +no information whatever+ about a photo from the folder it is in. Nothing. Zilch. Nada.
Now as well as not understanding much about Photos, files and metadata, you demonstrate that you are equally clueless about iPhoto.
. You will see two folders named Originals and Modified and if you want to just bail on iPhoto and possibly retain some organization of your photos, you can just drag these out of the iPhoto library to your hard drive
Now there's an excellent way to lose lots and lots of metadata. For a start you lose any metadata you've added in iPhoto - titles, descriptions, keywords. The only way to get this data is to export from iPhoto. Really, there is never a need to enter the library in this way. What you suggests causes data loss and you might take the time to warn folks: "Oh by the way, doing what I suggest will cause dataloss."
The error people keep getting... is likely because the export combines all your photos into one folder,
Export will not do this +unless you tell it to+
and most people have multiple duplicate file names like 1.jpg or family.jpg etc.
    Most people?
so iPhoto can't complete an export of "originals" and your only other likely option is to do an export in numeric sequence, which will likely lose all the original file names.
A really basic misunderstanding. This is a (very sensible) limitation of the Finder You can't have two files of the same name in one folder. One will overwrite the other and so you lose data. If you ask iPhoto to export two files of the same name to a single folder it won't do it as the second would overwrite the first. You wouldn't want that would you? So, your "bug" is a simple and sensible precaution against dataloss.
There are several possible naming schemes within iPhoto to avoid this problem, but the easiest is the one is sequential. Why? Because you can choose your Prefix. So, if you have two files called "Family" then you can give them the Prefix family and export sequentially. Result: two files called Family1 and Family2.
But all this can be avoided simply by not exporting into one large folder. If, instead, you export Event by Event (something that can be done manually, or automated with Automator or with a free 3rd party app) then the problem doesn't arise at all.
This IS a bug in iPhoto IMHO and there should have been a warning that you could lose all your original organization when doing a destructive "Import" and a warning that you will become locked into iPhoto without making tedious exports and renaming.
So, no bug, no need of a warning, no lock into iPhoto.
The problem with ignorance, as someone once said, is that it gains confidence as it goes along. And so, to your misunderstanding of how this forum works.
    What these cryptic mods
Cryptic? Mods? No one posting here is a Moderator. We're all just iPhoto users. This is explained clearly in the Terms of Use you agreed to when you signed up to the forum. Read them sometime.
...is that your original photo metadata is still in the photo,
Oh but it is... see that whole Exif metadata thing above...
you need some third party program to read it.
No. For a start, on your Mac, iPhoto and Preview will read it. Whatever software came with your camera will read it.
Apple made NEW file dates when it imported them.
Yes. But as explained above, the photo date is not the fie date.
