why does my iPod classic freeze up when i plug it in to my computer
It's not a "fix," actually. If that is a 4th gen iPod connected using USB, you need to do what it says and plug it in to the white square power adapter that originally came with those models. Later Apple power adapters should work; third-party adapters may or may not work. It has something to do with voltage. The USB connection to computer does not provide the required voltage (although it's obviously fine for normal syncing and charging).
If that iPod is connected to a FireWire port, it apparently provides the required voltage, because that step does not come up during the Restore. That model was a transition between iPod connecting to FireWire and connecting to USB. Earlier models required FireWire. Later models only used USB.
If you don't have an adapter, and there is an Apple Store nearby, I guess you could take it to the store's Genius Bar. I'm sure they have a power adapter there, to complete the Restore. (Just don't let them re-do the Restore on a Mac, if you use a Windows PC. Different storage formatting.)

Why does my ipod keep freezing up when i try to turn it back on?
every time my ipod dies and i try to turn it back on it freezes up.. why? also every time i try to use an app it goes in and in like 5 seconds the app closes.. i've restored it but that only helps for a few days and then goes back to doing the same.. what can i do to make that stop or should i get a new itouch? it also freezed up when i try to reset it..
If it is still acting up after a restore, you more than likely nave a hardware issue.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Why does my ipod classic stop playing after a few songs?
why does my ipod classic stop playing after just a few songs?
is your battery charged? How many songs do you have on the playlist (if you are playing a playlist when it stops)? I know that when the earbud wires are accidentally disconnected from the ipod body, the music stops automatically.

Why does my ipod classic shut off unexpectedly
Why does my ipod classic (80 gb) shut off unexpectedly? This happens often and more so when the earphone (any earphone) moves. The only time it does not shut off is when my ipod is lying flat on a table.
Hey madelinefrommiami,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
After reviewing your post, it sounds like it may be a hardware issue if moving the earphone shuts off the iPod. A frustrating situation for sure. Take a look at this page for information on available service options.

Why does my iPod Classic self-eject with Windows 7?
I've been having a complete nightmare with my iPod Classic 160GB. When I plug it into the USB, iTunes doesn't recognise it and, when I watch the screen, it shows the "Connected" screen then ejects itself and disconnects! Anyone know why and what I do to be able to use my iPod? BTW I'm running Windows 7 - which updates itself automatically.
I've uninstalled everything Apple, restarted and reinstalled iTunes - but nothing seems to work. HELP!!Glad to hear its working properly.
Just to clarify, "self-ejecting" is not what I was describing. If you use automatic syncing and disk use is NOT enabled, iTunes unmounts the iPod's "disk" most of the time, and mounts it ONLY when syncing is taking place. So, looking at the disk from Windows (the "system"), it will be mounted when iTunes is syncing, but otherwise unmounted. So what you described originally, with the iPod's screen initially showing "Connected" and then not connected a short time later makes sense, because the system was mounting the iPod disk to sync and then unmounting it after syncing was done.
However, in the iTunes window, the iPod should continue to appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES, whether the iPod's disk is currently mounted or not. It appears in iTunes when you connect the iPod and should remain there until you eject (or disconnect) the iPod. If the iPod was disappearing from the iTunes window by itself, there was something wrong. And it sounds like it's been corrected with your actions. -
Why does my iPod keep on crashing when I run high memory apps?
Why does my iPod keep on crashing when I run high memory apps? I have a 32 gb 4th gen iPod Touch with only 11gb used, and I currently run 6.1.5 Everytime I run a high memory app, without fail it crashes. These apps include but are not limited to instagram, infinity blade, subway surfer, gmail, clear vision 3, dropbox, and even Safari has crashed on multiple occasions. I tried resetting the settings and that seemed to work for about a day but now I'm back at square one.
Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

why does my ipod touch keep charging when im not charging it ex. 77% 78% help me please
All batteries recover a bit when they sit for a little while. Also most iPod battery apps register only in 5% increments, because it is hard to really be accurate to the single percent. Just because yours shows in 1% increments does not mean it is actually accurate to that level.

Why does my Ipod say its charging when it isn't reseaving any power?
I read every article on the support part of the apple website and nothing could help me. My Ipod touch is a 3rd generation and has 32 gigs, if thats relavent at all. So, my Ipod has a picture of a dead battery with a lightning bolt on it, and it only shows when its charging. The apple support said that picture means that the Ipod is charging, but is so dead that it cannot function, and to let it charge for 30 minutes and it should be better. It sat on a wall charger (a usb outlet that is plugged into the wall) for 3 days now and theres been no progress. So why does my Ipod say its charging when it isn't reseaving any power?
I've tried 2 wall chargers, and tried connenting it to all three of my computers, and tried about 4 differant charger cords. On all of them the Ipod says its charging, but it isn't getting any charge. So I don't believe its a severed power cord. I have also reset it a few times, and it won't show the apple sign, only the same battery/lightning picture. It could also be the charging circuit in the iPod. The Genius Bar is free. You could try to replace the battery yourself but that may not fix it.

Why does my Ipod keep freezing up during playback,
Why does my Ipod 3 keep freezing up? I have reset it as discribed in the online help 4 different times and it still freezes.
I at first thought it was due to the song was an MP3 but it has since froze on ACC and CDA audio. This would tell me it isn't the format that is causing it to freeze.By a reset do you mean an actual hard reset of the device or a restore of it in iTunes? If it was the former, try a restore of the device in iTunes. If it was the latter, your iPod likely needs servicing.

Why does my internal speakers come on when i plug in my headphones?
Why does my speakers only work?when i try to listen to music thru my headphoes it doesnt work, and my headphones are perfectly fine because i tested them out on other ipods.... and i even tried to push in the headphone flush but that doesnt work either. what do i do?!!??
Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
- Rest. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem that points to a hardware problem. Likely a bad headphone jack. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm
