HT1329 Help me move my music from my iPod onto my new laptop...please!?!

Hi!  The steps to do this are clearly explained in the HELP section...but when I try to follow the steps and open the iPod, I only get three folders: Calendars, Contacts, and Notes, all of which are empty!  However, when I have iTunes on and am looking at my iPod as a DEVICE...I can see all the music in it.
How can I move what iTunes can SEE into my laptop library?!  Does this have anything to do with me having a Sony VAIO, which is very media-full...but I don't really know how to use yet?
Help?
Cheers,
Kristin

    If iTunes purchases then:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise you will have to get them from where you originally obtained them

    WHAT SHOULD I DO

Use the backup of your computer and put the songs back on. If these are iTunes songs you can download them again on your computer and sync the nano.

  • Helpful Information about getting music from ANY ipod onto your itunes!!!

This is a message letting all Windows itunes users how to put music from any ipod onto their itunes, or other music player. Many people are annoyed when itunes doesn't let them put music from an ipod, thats not registered with their computer, into their itunes. I found that it is possible. First, you must open Search from the start menu and make sure your ipod is connected to your computer. Next, set the search prefrences to search for hidden files and tell it to search for music(on the ipod). Once you begin the search, you will be shown all the hidden music files that are on your ipod. After the search, just drag the files to itunes and they'll import.*
*Note: the files wont say the names of the songs until you import them into itunes or any other music player.

for purchases from the iTunes store do this:
authorize iTunes on your new machine for your iTunes store account(s). connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.

  • Importing music from an ipod onto a new computer

I've used a pc with my ipod since i got it.
now i got a macbook pro and want to import all the music from the ipod onto my itunes on the macbook. can someone tell me how i can do that?
    thank you.

You can't take music from your iPod and put it on the computer. You can re-download the songs from iTunes (I think its free to re-download the song if you already bought it, but im not sure) or you could transfer all your music from your PC onto a flash-drive and then take the music from the flash-drive and download it to the Mac. Then on iTunes, you update your library and it should locate the new music.

  • HT1329 Is there any way I can get the music from my iPod to my new laptop?

So recently my computer broke, taking all of my music with it, and now I only have the music on my iPod. Is there any way I can take the music from my iPod and put it on my new laptop?

You can't transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your new computer's iTunes library.

  • HT1386 How do I get my music from my ipod onto a new computer?  My old laptop broke so I can't get on to that one to "de-sync"..

How do I transfer music from my ipod to my PC without being able to access the old laptop which the ipod was previously synced to?  My old laptop broke, and I want to sync my music and add everything to my new laptop, but if I try to sync my ipod with my new computer it says it is going to delete all my music.  I tried looking at the apple help pages, and it said: First attach your ipod to the computer you want to disconnect from.  Not possible in this case.  What can I do?

  • I have changed computers. My old computer is unavailable but my iPod is up to date. How do I transfer my music from my iPod on my new machine please?

The music can be played through my computer speakers when the iPod contents are showing in iTunes, so iTunes recognises and can us the iPod, but I cannot move tunes/playlists from the iPod to iTunes (they appear to get dragged but do not appear in the new location).
