HT1329 when click on ipod Nano (7th generation) on desktop of new mac air, NO folders show in ipod nano (even though in disk mode...) - help - why do none of folders of music  show? cannot transfer

hi all
i am trying to use my ipod nano 7th gen. to transfer all music from my ipod nano to my new macbook air
i read the apple article but the step where it says
'double click on ipod on desktop and transfer/drag the itunes folder to your itunes folder in computer/hard drive' - there are NO FOLDERS and nothing showing when i double click on my ipod nano
no music shows
even though i have 7 days of music on there
what can i do?

*Please don't just tell me to switch to a Mac.* Giggle, giggle!
*The local Apple Store is baffled, but it appears they don't want to give me my money back or a credit due to it being bought from Amazon (even though they are an authorized reseller).* Just because they are an "authorized reseller" does not mean that Apple can recoup the refund.
Now, to your problem. Perhaps the Apple Store already suggested this but you always want to begin with the basics. These steps might not solve your problem but they're kind of like checking to confirm that the TV is plugged in before you troubleshooot the blank screen.

    Thanks to your feedback.

Click here, check that your computer meets the requirements, purchase and install the DVD, and run Software Update.

  • IPod photo (fourth generation) using it on new Macs

I have a new MacBook that doesn't have the firewire port. I have an older iPod and I would like to obviously hook it up to my computer. Are there any options for me? I know everyone will tell me to buy a new iPod but mine works perfectly. Never had a problem. It is in great condition. I use it for my home stereo. So what are my options? Obviously there is no USB to Firewire adaptor but the USB cable for new iPods does connect to mine. So is there anyway to get a firmware or some other update that allows me to transfer information through the USB cable or is that not an option? Anyone who has some advice, it would be appreciated.

I am not 100% sure the generation. I based that on wikipedia. I know it was the first iPod photo. So it does not have USB support. Totally firewire. But it works well and I don't want to upgrade but I have a new computer that I can't hook it up to. Fortunately I still have my old one. Is there a solution? Can I hook it up anyway to my new computer? Or is it so obsolete that Apple is going to ignore me and force me to update my iPod?

ipod nano 7th generation having issues with the UI. Out of box everything worked great. Once I snyc the device and it finished, the UI becomes unuesable. You have to double tap every icon in order to open music, videos, etc.  I cannot swipe to the second page of icons,  black box appears around an icon and then switches to a different one anytime I swipe. A box even appears around the time and battery power. iPod & iTunes are both updated. What is the FIX on this issue?

I had this problem as well.  This is what I found by searching online.  I tried the fix on my nano 7th gen and it worked.  I hope this helps you.  Make sure to use two fingers for sliding and double-click the icons to get into settings.  Good luck.
It would seem that Voiceover has been enabled on your iPod Nano. The following article contains information regarding Voiceover, and how to disable it once it's been enabled.
iPod nano (6th generation and later): How to use VoiceOver
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4317
To turn off VoiceOver on iPod nano using VoiceOver gestures
From the Home Screen, swipe right or left with two fingers until you see or hear "Page 2 of 2" on iPod nano (7th generation) or "Settings" on iPod (6th generation).
If the icons have been rearranged, or if there are more than four Home screens, you may hear something different.
Slide one finger around the screen until you hear Settings.
    Double-tap to open Settings.
Slide your finger up or down the screen until you see or hear General, then double- tap.
Slide your finger up or down the screen until you see or hear Accessibility, then double-tap.
Slide your finger up or down the screen until you see or hear VoiceOver, then double-tap.
Double-tap when you hear "VoiceOver switch button on."
You'll hear "VoiceOver off" to confirm the setting. Now you can use standard gestures to control iPod nano.
Note: You can also turn off VoiceOver by resetting your iPod.

Get a flashlight and make sure there is no obstruction/dirt/debris in the Nano headphone jack. Be sure you plug the headphones all the way in, the plastic on the headset jack should be flush with the body of the Nano.

    Hi TheGuru146,
It sounds like the iPod isn't restoring correctly. Try putting the it into Disk Mode manually and then restoring the iPod again as described in the article linked below.
    Putting iPod into Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1363
    iPod nano (7th generation)
Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode, verify that it has a charge.
Reset the device by pressing the Sleep and Home buttons simultaneously until the display shows the Apple logo. This should take about eight seconds.
When the Apple logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk Mode.
