HT1338 Air Port Extreme not compatible with MacBook Air/iPhone?

I have an airport extreme that only works for older Macs.  It used to work with my iPhone, but has since stopped working for any iPhones and will not connect with my MacBook Air.  It does connect with an older model of the Mac Book.  What's up with this?

Ahh yes, that's not even a first generation.
It's possible it may have seen its day after all those years and heat.  However, you could try to factory reset it, just to make sure nothings messed up in the firmware, etc.
If that still doesn't work, maybe see if a diagnostic can be done at a genius bar.

ok so hear is one of the many problems i am having my airport extreme is working and functions fine i can screen share and see all 3 of my macs. now to the problem when i use the network diagnostics it get all green lights up till internet and server? hmmm sounds like a provider porblem huh wrong i had a tech at my haouse for 4 hours trying to get it to work my internet works ok but super slow when plugged in i mean it is slower than dial up my iphone get faster speeds lol i have had no problems with my network before my leopard install now all 3 of my macs cant get online my airport cards work fine because i get the starbucks network fine....................

Well, my AE seems to be working fine.
I get 13.1 Mbps down and 951kbps up which is a little slower than I usually get on the downstream side (but I am cloning my drive and timemachine is running for the first time too).
You might want to check out IPNetTunerX.... it has some good tools to see where the bottlenecks might be.

  • In order to stream into a local radio station, I would need to install Silverlight. Is this compatible with MacBook Air?

Is Silverlight compatible with MacBook Air and is it OK to install?  I am trying to stream into radio station and cannot, I'm told, w/o installing Silverlight. Please advise. Thank you.

    Hey!
    Silverlight requirements:
Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Intel-based CPU) or newer and works with browser Firefox 12+ or Safari 4+
    Macintosh (Intel-based)
Intel Core Duo 1.83-gigahertz (GHz) or higher processor with 512-MB of RAM
You want to stream into a radio station?
Like broadcasting signals from you mac to a radio station?
Or do you want to lisen to radio on you MacBook Air?
If you want to stream online radio stations on your Macbook Air, it is sevral options.
    1) You can download a app from App Store
    2) Stream online radio from your web browser ( cud be that some websites tell you that you need Silverlight plugin)
    3) You can add an radio station to an iTunes playlist (needs a few steps before you have it in playlist)

  • My MacBook Air 2013 is 'not compatible with Mac OS X Mountain Lion'

    Hi,
I just bought a new MacBook Air 2013 yesterday.
I think there may be some driver issues with it as the graphics seem a little choppy.
I tried redownloading Mac OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store but a message constantly pops up saying that Mac OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with my computer.
Is anyone else getting this issue?

Wait until the next update, or reinstall it from the recovery partition, which is accessible by pressing the Command and R keys at startup.

I can't tell you why, but I can tell you that Apple published the list of supported hardware on its website quite a while ago. The oldest MacBook Pro model that supports Mountain Lion is the Mid/Late 2007 model. You have the late 2006 model.
Details are (and have been) here:

  • Wps HP printer to air port extreme for imac and mac air

Just purchased a HP C310c p/c/s/p/web . it has wps protection. air port extreme has wpa. how do i proceed?

The AirPorts do not directly support WPS. Instead, you would need to configure your HP printer for either a WPA or WPA2 protected network depending on how you have already setup wireless security on your AirPort Extreme. You should be able to find a setting via the printer's control panel to allow you do so.

  • Help using a mini display port to HDMI cable with MacBook Air and TV

Hi, Apple gurus. I need help setting up my MacBook Air to my Vizio TV using a mini display port to HDMI cable that I just purchased on Amazon.
And here's info about my MacBook Air:
In the Amazon reviews, someone posted the following how-tos, which aren't working for me:
    1. Plug in both ends, mini display port on your macbook and the HDMI on any available port on your LCD.
    2. Go to upper left Apple menu and scroll down to system preference. Or use your FINDER from the dock, go to applications, then system preference.
    3. Click on Displays
    4. Click on DETECT DISPLAY
    5. A similar screen pops up with name of your LCD, mine says SONY LCD, click on ARRANGEMENT
    6. Click the box that says MIRROR DISPLAYS.
    7. Go back into system preferences and go to SOUNDS which is located under HARDWARE.
    8. Click on OUTPUT, then select HDMI, which should be listed next to your LCD name.
I ran into trouble at step #4. My MacBook Air doesn't list the option of "detecting display." I do, however, have the box mentioned in step #6, "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available."
Regarding step #8, HDMI didn't appear in the list — I only see "internal speakers."
So, what am I doing wrong? Or, did I buy the wrong cable?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Or you need to get an appropriate adaptor. The Griffin adaptor sold on Apple's Online Store will work with a standard HDMI cable.

  • Optus Huwaie USB not working with Macbook Air

I have a Macbook Air (mid 2011) running Yosemite 10.10.1
Using an Optus USB Modem (E3276 V2  4G) by Huwaie and it I think there is a compatibility issue. … I tried the modem on my Macbook .. no problem at all.
After launching on the Air, the USB dongle glows Blue which represent connection - status on Optus window says ‘connected' but there is in fact no internet connection at all and no kbps activity either way. I have seen a few similar posts on various forums but haven't so far understood what they are on about. Ideas? Thanks

You should be contacting the technical support of the Internet carrier for assistance.  It is their responsibility to be compatible with Apple.
    Ciao.

  • Files not compatible with macbook pro

i have difficulty opening files on my macbook pro, the senders of the files tell me to use windows as their files aren't compatible with apple. is there a way to convert files

If you take a document, and TextEdit can handle some Word files. or if you use Pages (you have to EXPORT) files to Word format.
They are providing an exe is Windows only and read-only that won't run natively on Mac OS.
Not sure what TV  has to do with this.
Use Windows 7 and VirtualBox to do your word.

  • Airport extreme not compatible with xbox live?

    Hello,
Ive had this problem for a long while now and are getting desperate. Basically when i go on xbox live the connection is really really bad. It's not all the time, rarely it will work fine but most of the time the connection is awful.
I know the problem isn't because of the location of the xbox since, the connection is strong in my laptop in that room and we have also used a wifi signal analyzer in the room aswell. It's not because of where i live since i have a friend across the road who's xbox connection works fine. We also have an xbox dowstairs much closer to the router which also has the same problem. Im almost convinced its because of the aiport extreme.
We have an aiport extreme which acts as the router and a netgear which is the modem. The airport extreme has to be in bridge mode or else i get a double nat problem. I think its something to do with the airport extreme and netgear conflicting, if they where i have no idea how to solve it or even if thats the case.
We tried taking the airport extreme out of bridge mode and then turning nat off on the netgear but then we couldn't connect to the internet at all.
Please help me, i really need this problem solved. Its really starting to annoy me.
    Thankyou

Im almost convinced its because of the aiport extreme.
Unfortunately, the key issue here may be that the AirPort Extreme is not on the Xbox list of "compatible" routers.
Xbox LIVE Compatible Hardware - Xbox.com
I know of no way to change that fact.
We have an aiport extreme which acts as the router and a netgear which is the modem.
You do not have a Netgear modem, you have a Netgear modem/router or gateway.  That is why the AirPort must be in Bridge Mode. In Bridge Mode, the AirPort is not acting as a router, it simply passes through the network information from the Netgear gateway.
If you want the AirPort to act as the main router for the network, then the Netgear device must act as a pure, Bridge Mode modem.  Netgear support may be able to tell you if it is possible to configure the device that way.
But, even if it is possible to configure the Netgear this way and the AirPort as the main router, the fact still remains that the AirPort is not listed as being "compatible" with Xbox, so there are no guarantees that this will help.

  • Handoff not working with Macbook air (mid 2012)

So, I just updated to Yosemite and I have enabled all the settings on my Macbook Air (mid 2012), iPhone and iPad.  Turned on blutooth, same wifi network, etc...  Handoff DOES work from my Mac to the iPhone but will not work from my iPhone to my mac.  I've searched high and low and can't figure out why its not working...  Any ideas?

*UPDATE* I was able to drop a file to my iPhone via AirDrop FROM my MBP to iPhone. However, I've still been unable to do the reverse (iPhone to MBP).
Same exact situation with same exact MBP (mid 2012 machine). iPhone 5S running iOS 8. I had been trying to go iPhone to MBP for about 30 minutes with no success. Neither Handoff or AirDrop would work. The MBP would recognize the iPhone in AirDrop, but the iPhone would never recognize the MBP as a location to "drop" to.
After reading you post, I tried the reverse (MBP to iPhone). I started an e-mail and got the mail icon on my iPhone lock screen. However, when trying to access the message on the iPhone i received connectivity errors and the "draft" never loaded.
Perhaps the server on the cloud they use for the handoff/airdrop/continuity feature is overloaded due to the rollout. Either way it's entirely more complex to use then it should be.

  • New Epson WF 7620 will not print with Macbook Air, receive "Print File Was Not Accepted" message.

Hello! To anyone who tries to help me, thank you in advance!
I brought home a new Epson WF 7620 yesterday and did all the necessary stuff, installing it with my Macbook Air (Mac OS X ; 10.7.4.). I installed the software from the site, added the printer to my printer list, enabled "print sharing" and connected it to my wifi network. I am trying to use it wirelessly.
I tried to print a test page of a regular PNG image, but I am receiving the "Print File Was Not Accepted" message in my printer queue. I have changed the file type a couple times to JPG and PDF but more of the same. I have also reset the printer, and have repaired the disk permissions in the Disk Utility to try and get it to work.
None of this seems to be working, suggestions very appreciated!
    Thanks
    MP

Try Linc's suggestion first.  That should cure your issue.  If not, here's something else to consider:

Apple keeps a set of current software for Epson printers.  You should start by going to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and delete the printer from the list (using the "-" key).  Then download Apple's software version from here:
Epson Printer Drivers v2.18 for OS X
Finally, set up the printer as shown here:

  • Mac office 2013: is this compatible with macbook air? How do I install without a cd drive?

Want a macbook air: is my mac office 2013 compatible with MBA? How do I install it if the MBA doesn't have a cd drive?

It's only supposed to work through Mountain Lion. The current version is QuickBooks 2015 16.0.3.1460 R4. Minimum requirements doesn't mean it works on everything above that. There is always a maximum.

  • Iphone 4 not connecting with macbook air using USB

I am not able to connect my iPhone 4 with my Macbook Air using USB cord. Macbook Air is not able to detect the device.

I had this problem when connecting my iphone 4 to my retina MacBook Pro. The phone was running ios 6 but I updated it to ios 7 and since then it works fine with no problems. Try updating it to the latest software and see does that help!
