I recently purchase my first Mac Book Pro. I copied all my Word documents from my old PC to a USB flash drive with the intention of downloading the content into my new computer. I installed Word for Mac previously. I can not figure out how to download the content of the flash drive into the Mac. Probably very simple but obviously I am a new user. Any suggestions?
Drag them from the drive to the Documents item in the Finder's sidebar.

I just brought home a mac book pro 13" with retina and the airport time capsule . What one should I turn on/ hook up first? We have an existing router in the home and an old PC.
Suggestions?Turn off you cable/DSL modem, your computer, and the old router. Disconnect the computer's Ethernet cable from the old router. Replace the old router with the Time Capsule. Connect the Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port on the Time Capsule. Connect the computer's Ethernet port to one of the LAN ports on the Time Capsule using an Ethernet cable.
Turn on the modem and wait until the status lights indicate connection with the ISP. Turn on the Time Capsule and wait for the amber light to begin flashing. Open Airport Utility in your Utilities folder to configure the Time Capsule.
If a user guide came with the Time Capsule I suggest you follow it's instructions. -
I have a Mac Book Pro with 10.7.5 and I am trying to upgrade to the free Mavericks but when I click on the download it doesn't do anything. What am I dong wrong?
A couple things to try.
1) Quit the App Store, wait a few minutes, then open it and check the Purchases tab. Is there a progress bar.

You should make sure to correct that as soon as possible. All computers, regardless of make and model, are ticking time bombs. Hard drives can die at any time, leaving you with an inert chunk of metal that may still contain your data, but in a form that is totally inaccessible without paying thousands to a company that will disassemble the drive in a clean room and read what data they can off the platters.
I wonder why should that happen. It was a simple update. Why should an update ruins all my works and my computer...
It is not the update itself, but the fact that you had corruption in your hard drive's data structures, and writing the thousands of files required by the updater worsened that corruption, damaging the system in the process. These problems can be avoided by repairing your hard drive with Disk Utility prior to installing any system update. Most likely, Disk Utility won't find anything to fix, but when it does, you'll be glad you did it before installing the update! -

You are having kernel panics. Can be hardware, often RAM related, or software.

Third party programs can be responsible, as they may be incompatible. I would try uninstalling any of these, starting with any that you have installed around the onset of the KPs.

If it's happening only now and then, it will be difficult to troubleshoot. Did this start after the 10.6.8 update? Might be one of them is incompatible with 10.6.8. See if any of these programs need updating. -

There are apps in the app store that require a more up to date OS. I've checked though the software update tab and it tells me my OS is up to date. Should I manually install an up to date OS? If yes then how?
Upgrading to Mountain Lion

On your Mac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to: Notes
Then reselect it.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync the data.

I have a mac book pro and when I turned on iChat it would not let me video chat with more then one person even though I was able to in the past. It only showed an icon to video chat with one person. Please help!!!! ASAP
Hi,
Check the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section > Bandwidth setting.
iChat needs to see a Minimum of 128kbps to do 1-1 chats in Video
For 3 and 4 way chats it needs 384kbps
Set the Bandwidth to 500kbps if it is set lower.
Also check the speed you are getting from your Internet supplier.
