HT1338 I cannot use my FineReader 12.04 with OS X Yosemite version 10.10.

I get a message saying " You can't use this version of the application FineReader with this version of OSX. You have FineReader 12.0.4.
I bought Fine Reader using App Store.
How can I get it to work?

I have no experience with Microsoft Accounting Express 2007 but in researching it, Microsoft lists Vista as the last OS that supports it. I wouldn't be surprised if Windows 7 does too, though perhaps not officially. Also, there are updates for the program which likely keep OS support current and I've read they have free trial periods.
And you could also test it in Windows 10 which, as a Technical Preview, is free and I know runs well in VMware Fusion. I suspect that Accounting Express creates data files which can be moved from one installation to another so even if an OS in a different virtual machine is necessary, the data file could be moved to it to continue working.

I have the same problem. It says trial is expired, so I select the "sign in now" button. After sign in, it comes up with a place to enter a serial number. The only two other options are "back" and "next".

My internal drive is NOT showing up in the event library in Final Cut X. I am also getting a "The operation couldn't be completed. Cannot allocate memory" Any ideas? I am using an IMAC Core i7 with 8GB memory, OS version 10.6.8

If I had a application disk, I would unistall and reinstall FCPX. I am assuming there is a way do do this without a disk - just have not been able to easliy find out how.

Well it did NOT work. Here is a screen capture as FCPX loads showing the drive while it loads. Then when it is loaded, NO drive showing up in the Event Library ( I have turned off the external drive).

Why are you using a usb ethernet adaptor? Just plug the modem into the usb port.

Cannot use the CS6 blur filters with Mountain Lion since I cannot see the circle and other adjustement lines of the UI. I had no problems using these filters with Lion. Could you help.

Why not just Upgrade to 10 6 8 which is Snow Leopard...
First you need to check that your current Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...

When I first upgraded to 10.5 ical and calculator both crashed when starting and now after upgrading to 10.5.1 I get the following message - 'You cannot use the application ical.app with this version of Mac OS X'
This is only on my G4 powermac. No problem with Intel MacBook.

Are you, by any chance, one of "those people" that move applications to something other than the default location?

When I upgraded, I saw the same problem - I had moved iCal (among others) outside of "applications" to something like "Applications/Business Apps"
The version in "Business Apps" was the Tiger version, and it wouldn't run. However, the Leopard version (Installed to /Applications) worked fine.
So, I deleted the "Tiger" version, moved the iCal to where I wanted it, and all was well.
In a similar note, I put a number of iLive apps in a different folder -- and OS X software update stopped finding updates for those apps. I had to move them back to /Applications in order to get OS X software update to run them.

I received this error message when trying to run System Preferences (SP) for the first time after running the 10.5.1 update (from the download, not software update). After the update, I repaired permissions. Did another restart. Same.
I reinstalled 10.5.1 update. Same message. Logged in as another user. No change.
I removed the com.apple.systempreferences.plist from ~/library/preferences. No change, and it did not re-create the .plist file.
Any ideas? No one else seems to be having this problem as far as I can tell.

I have had this problem with many applications after updating to 10.5.1, including
System Preferences, Calculator, Preview. Tried repairing permissions, and other tips from this thread. The strange thing is, the actual Leopard applications seem to have actually vanished? I don't know if this is anything to do with Time Machine; Anyway, My fix was:
Download Pacifist (if you don't already have it), locate the apps that you're having problems with on the Leopard install DVD, and copy them to the Applications Folder (Click on 'Replace Bundle')

Books do nor exist except in the iPhoto database so you can not "find" a book vista TM. You restore a previous library (be sure NOT to overwrite your current library) and switch to it

Cannot use double tap and move with one finger to select text in Mountain Lion

I've been using OS X in my Macbook Pro since Snow Leopard, and if I choose "tap with one finger to click", I can use double tap and move with one finger to select text if the cursor is between text.
It works in Snow Leopard,and Lion However, in Mountain Lion, this doesn't work!! I have to click in the bottom right corner of my trackpad in order to select the text.
Can anyone get this fixed ?

I've been trying to figure out how to select text with tapping and without clicking.
This did the trick.
It's quite finicky to not select a space in between words.
Zooming in does seem to help (two finger double tapping in a body of text may trigger a SmartZoom and zoom the current frame of text to fill the screen, if anybody doesn't know this.)
((There's a smartMagnifyWithEvent Cocoa NSEvent that's not universally supported across all applications for noob OS X developers like me.))
I haven't been able to find the part about double tapping between text to begin a selection (which seems to work best when double tapping directly next to a letter) anywhere in the help system on or online. I probably just missed it, though.
Clicking with the built-in trackpad on my MacBook Pro w/ Retina or Magic Mouse just takes too much pressure for an old-time touch typist like me.
As an aside, I've been trying BetterTouchTool and MagicPrefs to enable one finger tap on the Magic Mouse. BetterTouchTool seems to trigger text selection unwantedly and randomly, though.
The whole mystique of Mac / Apple being intuitive and user-friendly seems to be one of the greatest marketing coups / unbelievable con jobs of the last century.
I'm actually somewhat qualified to express an opinion as a software engineer with a degree in Computer Science and programming and user interface design experience in Windows, UNIX, web, Android and other systems, and now OS X and iOS. I could go on and on and on but I won't other to say that I still find Macs buggy and hard to use. I'm now finding that my new iPhone 5 is just as big of a pain (i.e. big thumbs missing landscape keyboard in Contacts.) Of course, I like flexibility and options and custom workflows and more than one way to do things and simply being able to do things at all, so I'm also actually somewhat biased. Sorry for the rant...

Cannot use Spring 2.0 final with Workshop Studio 3.2_569

It seems to be impossible to use Spring 2.0 final with the latest Studio. When attempting to define an alternate Spring library (the Studio download is still a CR release), you'll receive an error dialog complaining about a missing OJB jar file from the Spring distribution.
This jar file is missing, but on purpose--it appears that with the 2.0 final release, support for Apache OJB was removed from the main Spring distribution and moved to the Spring modules project.
Any chance we'll get a Studio update to resolve this issue, or provide a final Spring 2.0 version download within Workshop?

The BEA Workshop release 3.2 & 3.2.1 (build 569 & 589 respectively), does not bundle Spring 2.0 final and is also not aware of this release.
However, this should not stop you from manually importing the Spring 2.0 libraries into Workshop.
Preferences | Workshop Studio Facet Libraries | Spring Library is used by the "New Web app" and "Project Facet" wizard to import the libraries on creation. Instead you can manually copy/overwrite Spring 2.0 libraries in your existing project.We will keep you posted on the Spring 2.0 support release.

have a hp m1212nf mfp(airprint compatible according to the hp web site) hooked up via usb to mac running OS 10.6.8., other mac hooked up via router to same network, Can print from both machines to the printer, which has the latest firmware installed.
Want to print from iphone 4 running ios 5.0.1. Running on wi-fi, and tried to print, but iphone cannot find the printer. Any suggestions??

In order to print using Air Print you will need to make sure your iphone 4 is connected to the same wi-fi network as the printer is. Also, what is the make and model of your router ?

So I cannot use iCloud cause I have with one early 2006 iMac, one Macbook Air

I have two Macs now:
1 iMac early 2006 (intel core duo)
1 latest Macbook Air
So I upgraded my MobileMe to iCloud in my Macbook Air and I syncronized my info. But when I use my iMac (i cannot install lion cause it doesn't accept core duos) I cannot have the syncronized info!! Because I cannot have iCloud installed on my Snow Leopard!!
So when I was doig everything smoothly with MobileMe (keeping syncronized two macs) now I cannot cause iCloud couldn't be installed on Snow Leopard of my iMac.
WHY?? Apple instead of simplifing things (as they were doing not long time ago) now it gets things more complicated!!!

But this wasn't the way apple were doing things!! I can see that you are a new apple user,
this is the mentality which apple styaed always away: old tecnology!! it's just a crap! I am a paying MobileMe (or call it .Mac) customer since 2005.
and it is not about tecnology!! they can simply still allow installing iCloud on Snow leopards!! and using it could be allowed who owns another Lion computer or IPhone ios5!
