  • HT1338 I need to bulk upload to Auctiva (auction software) but Java was disabled on my computer. I have 10.5.8 so does this mean that I can't use Java? If not, then is there a workaround to be able to use the bulk uploader from Auctiva?

I need to bulk upload images from iPhoto to Auctiva (auction software) that will then be posted to eBay; however Java was disabled on my computer some time ago due to "known issues."  I have 10.5.8 so does this mean that I can't use Java? If not, then is there a workaround to be able to use the bulk uploader from Auctiva? As it stands now, I have to upload photos individually which is super time consuming.

You can re-enable it for special purposes, opposite of disabling it...
Disable Java in your Browser settings, not JavaScript.

I'm trying to use an on-line program that may require me to upgrade my JAVA software. Any ideas?

    Upgrade your OS:
Upgrading to Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.

  • HT1338 I need updated Java 6 on Mac os 10.6.

I am a photographer, and I have just learned today that I can not place a order to my printing comany due to Java- I did upgrade to the updated jave that Apple lead me to. But still no luck. The software that I have to use in order to get my jpig files downloade to my printer co. roeslunch.com. This software to run takes Jave 6. I really needs some help here with this porblem. I also call my printing company and they told me that it was something to with Apple and Oracle and that they should be a up date in 48hrs. Would someone please set up and give me some help. Thanks

First, Java on the web is inherently unsafe. You need a plan to eliminate it from your workflow permanently. That may mean switching to a photo finisher with a competent web designer. Only an incompetent one uses Java today.
Apple has a new release of Java 6 in beta testing. If you must, you can register for a free developer account and download the beta from the link below. It may or may not work.
    Downloads
When the new version of Java is released to the public, you may have to erase your boot volume and reinstall OS X in order to install it. The beta is not intended for use on production systems.

This was the last Java update for Leopard:
Update 10, 29 June 2011 - This release updates J2SE 5.0 to 1.5.0_30, and updates Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_26. J2SE 1.4.2 is no longer being updated to fix bugs or security issues and remains disabled by default in this update. Support for out-of-process Java applets on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard has been removed with this update.
This release is only for Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later versions of Mac OS X 10.5. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1359

  • HT1338 How do I download java to play games

How do I download java to play games

Java is part of the Mac OS X installation, so you don't need to download and install it separately.  For Mac OS X Lion (10.7), Java is not installed by default.  However, the first time you need to use it, the system prompts you and asks if you want to download and install Java.  If you agree and give authentication, it is installed.  Going forward, there are no more prompts when Java is needed.  Java will be available.  If there is a future update to Java, you will be notified through Software Update, like with other Mac OS X components.

  • HT1338 how do I get Java on my macbook pro?

how do I get Java on my macbook pro?

If you are running 10.6.7 or less, you won't be able to until either Sun, Oracle, or Apple sees it within their heart to update Java on Mac OS X without requiring a system minimum.   Otherwise read this tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3261
If you need to keep an older operating system available for a purchase other than running Java, you can always keep a separate partition (requiring erasing your system if already updated), or an external hard drive with the older operating system to boot to.

  • HT1338 I installed the wrong java on my mac, how can I uninstall it?

I need java to be able to log onto my work website.  For some reason it wasn't on my mac.  I installed the wrong version by accident, then I installed the correct version, but now neither will work.  How can I uninstall the wrong version? Whenever I try to put it in the trash it won't delete says error code 61! ugh

Good news is it didn't install & you have the latest Java for 10.5.8...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1359
About Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 10
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 10 delivers improved compatibility, security, and reliability by updating J2SE 5.0 to 1.5.0_30, and updating Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_26 for 64-bit capable Intel-based Macs.
J2SE 1.4.2 is no longer being updated to fix bugs or security issues and remains disabled by default in this update.
So now we need to find where those files really are, if that was -61 then...
    wrPermErr                     = -61,  /*write permissions error*/
It sounds like they're in your pictures folder if they show up on a Screen Saver!? You cant trash thm from there.
