My email header shows.....but no email content is displayed. can you help?

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!

Mail downloaded headers but not content...

...and now won't download message headers either ...
i can't receive new mail and i can't get to the content from any mail. i'm at a loss. here's what i did andexperienced today:
1) deleted 'old' mail account (hadn't pulled new mail since 11/2 9AM)
2) created 'new' mail account 11/3 10:15AM
- 'new' did download headers (Subject) for all new mail through 10:15AM
- 'new' did not download any message content for any mail
3) sent test message at 10:18 from another account to 'new'
- "another test" did not appear in mail client
- "another test" did appear in webmail client
4) synchronized 'new' in mail client
- no changes ... 'another test' did not appear
- no changes ... message content did not download
i'm having the same issue on my MBP and G4 Dual 1.25.
the MBP is running 10.4.10.
the G4 is running leopard.
the mail is served by an xserv running 10.4.X.

Turns out the prefs were corrupted after the Leopard install on the G4. Then the prefs sync'd with the MBP and caused the problem. Had to scrap prefs, etc. and recreate my mail accounts.

Notes v 10.6.2 - opens but no content, wont close

suddenly, Notes via Mail app open but no content in them, wont close
no content means none in Preview Pane and none via 2x clicking
(dialogue in Prev Pane says "Loading..." but nothing ever does
ALL Notes behave this way
tried:
1. deleting ~/Library/Mail/Envelope Index file
2. DU - Repair Permissions / Verify Disk

yes it and Notes work fine on a virgin user account
I did a full restore of the entire MBP from my Time Machine 12-19-09 backup, sadly, to no avail. Since I didnt have this issue on that date, I cannot understand why it didnt work, ie, the problem was still there. Wierd !
To get my mail working properly again, what I did was delete the problem account, recreate a new account with same username, and am trying to restore folder by folder from Time Machine. This is not working very well:
1. Calendar - restoring from the Application Support/Calendar folder causes a spinning beachball
2. key desktop folders with my data - Im told that "The operation cant be completed because you dont have permisson to access some of the items".
3. Contacts - its not obvious how to restore my contacts - where are they ?
4. restore vs copying from the actual Finder window of a Time Machine backup isnt clear. In any case the Finder level copies yield the aforementioned error and seem to put some random number of successful copies of folders into any root folder. Not good.
Ive got a real mess on my hands now, and Ive already spent hours and hours unsorting this thing.
you are having all these permissions problems because the new user you created has a different UID than the old one. UID is different from username. it's a number. the first created user has UID 501, the second has 502 etc. UID's are what determines permissions, not user names. we can change the new user's UID to align with the old one but we need to find out what the old one was. how many users did you have. was the old user the first created on the computer?
btw, contacts are stored in homedirectory/library/application support/address book. just restore the whole directory. but don't do this yet and don't copy stuff from the TM drive via finder. use the TM interface only.

Some mail folders show title, but no content

I updated to Mavericks. In Mail, I see my folders, but inside the folders, it shows my emails, but the do not show the email contents. Can anyone help?

Try quitting the mail app buy double tapping the home button and swiping up to close it. Then open mail again to download the message again.

Restored mail account and subject shows up but no content

I was having problems with my e-mail not getting delivered 100% correctly and I was looking for the problem. I use Mail and had not had any problems until just the last week or so sporatically. I noticed that I had both a Comcast mailbox and a comcast.net mailbox(same address/account)on my iMac. I decided that may be the root of my problem and further noticed that one mailbox had subject but no content to the message. I decided to delete that account and keep the other account that had all the messages and the content. Unfortunately I stupidly didn't archive the mailbox.
I moved the mail to the trash, but didn't delete it until I checked to see if the other account was working properly. It seemed to be fine, so I deleted the mailbox. Fast forward until today when I went into Mail to work on a draft I started yesterday. The header was there, but there was no message content for any of my inbox, sent or draft or junk from 3 years of messages.
I do backup my work, so I went to Time Machine and got the plist & mail folder from the day before and it restored perfectly. All the e-mails were there, but there was no content to the messages, just the headers from the last 3 years.
Can anybody tell me if I'm just SOL for the content of those e-mails or if there is a fix I don't know about . Thanks very much in advance

I am having the same behaviour you describe but found that sometimes the contents of the message would be displayed in the preview panel. On other days, the preview panel would be empty (as if there was no text) but it would appear once I open the message (it would appear then in both, the opened window AND the preview panel).
I know you put this down as 'solved' but in my view it's a bug. My way of getting around it is to close mail and reboot the machine...just like in the old days of using Windows.

Some Content in e-mail wont show and Google Doodles don't work

I am using Windows 7 - Laptop - Lenovo E540 - 2 months old. Firefox 37.0.1
I first noticed some content in my e-mails won't show - BUT if I open my e-mail in Chrome - no problem - I even checked it in the latest IE - which I never use - and no problem there as well - JUST FIREFOX
I have attached screen grabs of one particular daily e-mail i get and you can see I see the links in Chrome (under Doddle Top Stories) - but not in FireFox.
i also have Firefox on my Android (Nexus 5 - Kit Kat) phone and do not have the problem there.
ALSO: One of the latest Google Doodles that was interactive (The Pony Express one) - did NOT work or even show a "play button" in Firefox but in Chrome it worked no problem - so there seems to be a problem with that as well.
I Have Tried:
Firefox in Safe Mode
Refreshed Firefox
Disabled and then enabled each plug-in one by one as per the instructions
Downloaded and installed the latest Java
I Know it's not my Anti-Virus (Symantec Endpoint 12) as I said it works with Chrome & IE
I have ALSO noticed that sometimes it times out or pages won't display/load and then I hit retry and it works - and it's not my WiFi as that doesn't seem to happen w/Chrome or my Cellphone.
I decided to pull out and fire up my old laptop (Lenovo Think Pad Z61T - Windows XP) that I replaced with the new one and see if it happened on this one - which I NEVER remember it doing at all - but since it updated to the latest Firefox - IT ALSO HAPPENS NOW on this one!
Is it the NEW update of FireFox that has a function I am not aware of?
I have not installed and re-installed Firefox as I figured that would be the last resort.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Any other advice other than what I've tried would be very much appreciated.

Mail not showing body content

Since upgrading to yosemite the Apple mail client is not showing the body content of some of my emails.
If I look at the message source nothing is displayed.
If I use Outlook there is no issue and the mail is properly displayed so the issue is not with the email of my mail server.
Are there any new security controls within the mail client and it has picked up the mail as suspicious?
Any ideas?

Upgraded to Yosemite on both my computers. Have same problem on my iMac, but not on my MacAir.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

Thanks Barney, I tried that but all that comes up in Spotlight are the log files that show the file paths! I don't know how Steam works. Are all the files held by Steam on their server perhaps?

I am having problems with mail after upgrading to snow leopard. When I send an email to somebody, I would get a reply from them but the content of the reply were old emails from months ago. Any ideas what's going on?

For ex. The subject of my email was "List of kids dancing this weekend". Then i would compose my email and send it to the recepient. They responded to my email with the same subject "List of kids dancing this weekend" but the content of the email was the email I received from somebody else months ago. This "phenomenon" happened serveral times already. Please help!

Turns out the auto-complete database is a SQLite DB stored in this folder. Probably the ownership and/or permissions are messed up on your system. Mine (under Snow Leopard) show ownership by me and rw privilege for all files in that directory, including MailRecents....

I had the same problem, but with Firefox 4.0. My first thought was to update Firefox (after of course restarting FF), but that didn't help it and I had the same problem.
Among others, I had an extension installed and enabled called Tile Tabs 4.10 that I thought could feasibly creating this problem. So I went into my add-ons manager and disabled it, restarted Firefox and the tabs worked properly again. Unfortunately, the Tile Tabs extension is my favorite Firefox add-on and I use it almost every day for managing my web work tasks. I went to the add-on page for Tile Tabs and saw that there was a notice that version 4.10 didn't work properly on Mac OS, and to install version 4.9 of the extension. I saw they had a new, not-yet-reviewed version 4.11 that addressed the Mac OS problem, installed it, and everything seems to be working properly.
I have no idea why all of a sudden I had this problem, as I hadn't updated Firefox or the Tile Tabs extension recently. Also, obviously this might not address your problem, especially if you don't have that add-on installed and enabled. But our problem started at the same time for both of us it appears based on your post time, so its probably not coincidence.
But its worth a look, and you might want to check out other extensions if you don't have Tile Tabs that could be causing the problem.

Other times the Wi-Fi connection works fine and it check e-mail or other within few seconds. The connection problems seems to be intermitted
This issue never happened before with IOS 5 since I bought the new phone in Oct 2011.

We suffered the imap.gmail.com server problem After an IoS 6 upgrade. The simple solution is to delete the problem account, shut down the iPad, start up again and reenter the account. Everything comes back normally. Good Luck everyone!

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.
