my acct. shows that I have 5 authorized computers for my itunes acct. not sure which 5 but I do know it is not my new laptop. our main home computer that I use for managing and adding to my music library may have crashed . so I deauthorized all 5 computers (that was my only choice). I was then hoping to authorize just one computer (my new lap top), I was then hoping that my entire music library would then show up via my itunes/apple account where is it ?
How can I transfer my entire itunes acct. history onto my new lap top? any suggestions? or how can I recover my music library off of a potentially crashed computer?

You can deauthorise all 5 at once, then reauthorize the one you want.

You need to log into iTunes on the computer you want to deauthorise. Otherwise, contact contact iTunes Store support to see if they can help.

Here are the steps to authorize a computer in iTunes:
How do I authorize a computer?
Open iTunes on the computer you want to authorize.
Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.
You might need to show the menu barto see this option in Windows. In earlier versions of iTunes, you can access this option from the Advanced menu.
Enter your Apple ID and click Authorize.
If your Apple ID uses an expired MobileMe account, you can still use it to authorize your computer.
If iTunes asks you to authorize your computer again, it won't use a new authorization. iTunes uses the same authorization for the same computer.

I cannot authorize my new macbook pro on itunes. I de-authorized all my previous accounts. I tried following the directions given for authorizing a computer, but I do not see this option when I open itunes. Any help is much appreciated.

Move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.

Hello dlmpsu85,
The menu bar can be temporarirly shown by pressing and releasing the 'Alt' key on your keyboard. You can also have the menu bar shown permanently, the process for which is detailed in the following article.

The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintan a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.

I activated home sharing but after syncing, the cd's Tunes which I had burned on my PC, did not share to my other devices but instead the cloud symbol has an error message next to each song not purchased through iTunes.

I activated iTunes Match but the songs in my iTunes library that were not purchased through iTunes did not share to my other devices. instead there is a cloud with an exclaimation point nnext to eahc one and it says errror when you mouse over the cloud. Well, now I feel like a real dope. I restarted iTunes (can't believe I didn't do that before) and now the TV's see the share, and the iPhone see it too (I assume the iPad sees it but I have not checked yet).

What does the family WiFi have to do with iCloud? iCloud is on Apple's servers.
If it is a shared computer what you can do is create a new user ID on the computer. Log in with the new ID. This will give you a "clean" iTunes library that you can use for backing up the the old phone and syncing the new phone.
