    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Hello I have an Ipod Touch 2nd Gen and it wont turn on or charge. I have pluged it into a wall 4 days ago and its been charging in multiple outlets (such as computers and walls) and its been displaying a red battery with a lightning symbol. When I unplug it the screen goes black and nothing happens. I have tried holding down the power button but nothing will work. Also when I plug it into a computer it doesnt show up on itunes, as additional info it is a 8gb black ipod touch 2ng gen, no camera, and ios 4.1. Thank you

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • My ipod touch 4th generation wont turn on

Ok my Ipod 4th generation wont turn on at all ive tried holding the buttons connecting it to Itunes (which by the way says nothings connected) and nothing is happening at all. My battery was halfway charged and after I put my ipod to sleep it wouldnt turn on anymore. Can anybody help me please?

Try putting it in DFU mode. Here is how to put it in dfu mode:
    1. First, Open up iTunes, plug in your iPod Touch/iPhone to the CPU's USB port. Turn on your CPU's speaker and make sure it is loud enough that you can hear it.
    2. Hold down the Home button (top left for iPod Touch and top right for the iPhone with the screen facing you) and the Power button (located on the front bottom of your iPod Touch/iPhone) simutaneously, until the screen goes black and the device turns off. (past the red slider/slide to power off screen)
    3. Now let go of the Power button, but continue to hold the Home button. Your iPod Touch/iPhone should have turned off and the screen should not be on.
    4. After around ~10-20 seconds, you will hear a noise (beep/ding) from your CPU as if it had just recognized a new hardware device, now iTunes should recognize it in DFU mode.
    5. After iTunes recognizes the iPod Touch/iPhone, let go of the Home button otherwise it will go into recovery mode and you will have to do the entire DFU process over again.
    6. You will know when you have put your iPod Touch/iPhone correctly into DFU mode when the display is blank and that you do not have anything on your device.
And you are done, now you can install any iPod Touch/iPhone firmware on to your device via the iTunes SHIFT recovery method.

  • My ipod touch fifth generation wont turn on after the battery died and my home button is broken

i fell asleep with my ipod touch fifth generation on and when i woke up the battery had died but i tried turning it on and connecting it to the computer but nothings working

    Hi stephkayy223,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPod touch battery has been completely consumed, you may need to connect it to power for several minutes before you will see the charging screen:
If you see this screen, it means your battery is really low. Plug in your device and let it charge for at least 10 minutes before using it. After that, you can use your device while it continues to charge.
If your device has turned off, you might see a black screen for a few minutes even after you plug it in. Let it charge until it turns on, or until it's fully charged.

Charge your iPhone and iPod touch
If your iPod touch still does not seem to be charging, the steps in this article can help troubleshoot the device:

  • IPod Touch 2nd Generation wont turn on or be recognized by iTunes.

The other night i was using my iPod touch and it was working fine and then i put it to sleep for the night and i woke up and tried to wake up my ipod and the screen displayed the plug into iTunes thing and the screen was flickering lighter and darker. I went to plug it into my computer and my computer didnt recognize it and neither did iTunes. I tried turning it off and back on but after i turned it off it didn't turn back on. I tried putting it into recovery mode and any other mode I could find that was supposed to fix it and it didn't work. I also tried charging it with no effect. So now my iPod wont turn on and when i plug it into the computer it tells me that the USB Device is not recognized. I followed the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
which told me to update the driver for the unknown device. I followed those instructions and i went to install driver from disk and have disk and put in the location it told me to select and the driver it told me to select and after i did that the computer told me that the driver update didn't go with the driver i was updating. So that didn't worked and after hours of much frustration im here. The liquid identifier thing has not been triggered and i no longer have a warranty on my Ipod so if anyone can help it'd greatly appreciate it!

    Anyone?

  • IPod Touch 3rd Generation 32 GB will not charge, sync to iTunes, or turn on

I've had this iPod since about January/February 2010. I've had this issue ever since May 20th, 2012 .When I plug it into an adapter, it shows the very low battery red sign, and when it is plugged in, it shows that it is charging. However, when it reaches the silver apple logo when an iPod turns on, it is stuck on the logo, so it does not turn on. When I plug it into my MacBook Pro, it does not show up under the devices column. Therefore, I am not able to backup or update my data, which is my first priority. I really want to be able to backup my data. I've gone to numerous Apple Support Communites pages and numerous apple support pages, and none have helped me. i've tried to reset my iPod, but I do not want to restore it and go into recovery mode because I do not want to lose my data. The two problems I think that I have is either the battery has died and can no longer charge or the charging dock is somehow broken. I've already used different adapters and different computers to charge it from. I really do not want to buy a new iPod, and if so, I would like to backup my data first. Any suggestions?

If the battery died then you will have to replace the battery and then see if you can get the data off the iPod. Otherwise you will have to try restoring the iPod and lose the data.

  • My iPod Touch 3rd generation wont start back up after turning it off

It all started when I was downloading an update for my twitter app and when it got to "Installing..." it got stuck like that for a while so I turned the ipod off (holding the power button off) and turned it back on. So when I tried to turn it on, it gives me the Apple logo for a while then it gets the "loading sign" stuck. After 5 minutes stuck or so with the loading sign, it turns off by itself and turns back again with the Apple logo. Updating an app and getting stuck has happen to me before and it worked well turning the iPod off completley and turning it on again. And funny thing its always the Echofon Twitter App that always gets stuck when updating.
I tried connecting the iPod to my laptop and opening iTunes but when the iPod gets turned off, on the itunes it gaves me a sign that says "Ipod cannot be found. It is not sync..."
So i need help turning on my iPod back on.
