Thanks folks, I see there are photo editor apps for the iPad. I am downloading one now, and it should work. Good to know I wasn't missing something in the iPad itself. It does not have the capability to rotate or edit pictures without outside help. Thx

That is everything in your iCloud account. Videos and camera roll photos are only included in your backup, the size and content of which you can see on your phone in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage>tap the name of your device under Backup. This will show you the size of "Camera Roll", where these are contained. (You can't see any detail beyond that.) Photo stream photos can only been seen in your photo stream album on your phone, and they don't count against your storage so they aren't part of the 4.5 GB. Everything esle is either in the backup, the items listed in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, or on icloud.com, where you can see your contacts, calendars, etc.

All of a sudden the displayed fields changed on me whenever I do a search in mail. When I have not filtered my email with a search, the default field shown in bold at the top of each message's preview is the "From" field. However, when I do a search this changes to the "To" field. But why would you want this?
iTunes is responsible for the File Management, let it get on with it, you do your organisation in the iTunes window. And everything you need to do, you can do via the iTunes Window. Want to find the file of a track quickly? Right click on it in the iTunes Window and select Show File: A finder window pops open with the file already selected.

You want one backup (ie Time machine) and one (or more) data archive of just all your raw files (drag and drop, or cloned etc.)

That's half-correct. Direct access is supported.
Find the photo in iPhoto, then go to the "File" menu and click "Reveal in Finder" - it takes you directly to the image file. Or right-click on the photo, and choose "Edit in External Editor" which opens the original file in other software, like Photoshop, if you have it.
And it's dangerous to move, rename or delete the original file or folders after you found it, but safe to do other things.

Let's say, I have an Iphone 3GS and it was synced to my older pc (I know...) and it crashed and I can't retrieve my files on there. I want everything that I have on my 3Gs: photos, videos, music, notes, voice recordings, etc... Now, I recently upgraded to 4Gs. I can sync almost everything via icloud but there are files like photos, videos, other music that I cannot sync or for some weird reason it won't work over the cloud. So I want to move all of those information to my macbook pro (upgraded from pc... yes!). How do I move everything in my iphone backed up to my itunes in my mac book so that I can sync it to my new 4Gs?

I have a 3GS IPhone and have not been able to find Cloud on it anywhere (I was instructed to go to Settings, General, etc). I have also been told I should download update from I Tunes and have not been successful doing that either. I know my I Pad has the Cloud and I am wanting to sync the calendar from the phone to the pad. Any suggestions?

how do I sync all photos to new ipad? I did a restore to copy apps and setting. Then did a sync. Music is synced and all apps appear to have their data. But there are only 2 photo albums.

All photo albums have to reside in iTunes to be synced. They are then synced up to your IOS device when you slect apply..
You need to go to your iTunes device photo tab and select the Itunes photo albums you want uploaded and then tap apply in the lower right corner.

I just did a clean install of OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard on our iMac (mid-07) and used this guide to get my wife's iPhone to sync with it again...without losing the apps. This page from OSXdaily is also useful: http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/29/sync-iphone-new-computer-without-losing-data/ I do use Time Machine, and backed up my drive before I did the whole wipe and install, so I did have all the backup files for the iPhone... It took a little time, but I did manage to drag all the music and photos over so I didn't lose anything. Hope this helps.
