See

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed any mobile programs associated with my non apple cellphone. This seems to have started happening after the last Itunes update I did as I was able to put music on my ipod touch a month or so ago. Is there some way to go back to an older version of itunes? I really have no idea what else to do since I followed every step on the trouble shooting page for windows 8.

I had this problem too and my roommate solved it!
    Go to 'Settings'
    'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync!

  • IPod touch not being recognised by iTunes, recognised in "My Computer"

    Hello,
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, I have iTunes 10.
I have tried restoring the iPod touch, I have tried switching it on and off. I have tried with each USB port, my security settings are fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I have restarted the computer. I have reset the ipod.
It has still not been recognised by iTunes.
What can I do to get the iPod touch to be recognised by iTunes?
vvv on "My Computer" at the bottom I can see this. Here I can access my DCIM folder, which contains some photos and videos.
    iPod information; Version: 5.1.1 (9B206) Model: MD057BT
    6GB 4th Generation
    Thanks,

So the Apple Mobile Device serviced is installed and running on your system? You tried to uninstall and re-install iTunes and all Apple related software?

  • How do I resolve the issue of a 2nd generation iPod touch not being shown on iTunes 11.4?

2nd generation iPod not being shown on iTunes 11.4
How do I resolve this issue? I have tried reinstalling after uninstalling it, nothing has worked for me any advice?

Well, go ahead and try every port, make sure to clean out the port with a q-tip, to make sure no dust is blocking the ports.
Then enter DFU, if iTunes doesnt recoginze it when your in DFU, that means you charging input is damadged.
    Hope this help

  • Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes now

i have a friend who has an ipod touch....everything had been going fine for him and then all of a sudden it was not being recognized any more....what caused this? he did say that he had done an update but i'm not sure what version he has....could this possibly be the problem.....does anyone an a fix for this?

I think Apple is having a problem at the moment, my Ipod touch was always fine syncing until the new update! (Even on older itunes version, I could'nt sync since new update came out) It just isnt recognizing the device...
Ive done all that Apple says to do, none of which helps at all, I reckon its thier own side of the problem they need to fix...

  • IPod touch not being recognized by iTunes on my MacBook, and on 2 other PCs

    Hello,
After scouring the web and these discussion forums to no avail, I've decided to post my problem. I downloaded iTunes 8.0 yesterday, and updated the firmware on my iPod Touch to 1.1.5. I tried connecting my iPod, and nothing happened. It is not being recognized by my MacBook. So, I tried using another USB iPod connector, and nothing happened. I tried using a firewire connector, and nothing happened. Frustrated, I tried connecting to my one roommate's HP laptop and see if it would get recognized there - no. I then tried on my other roommate's laptop. The device was recognized to be USB, but iTunes wouldn't go ahead and try and reformat it. I'm starting to lose my mind! I've tried resetting the iPod touch itself loads of times to no success. I've tried restarting while having the iPod connected to the computer, and still nothing.
    What should I do now?

Sorry about not getting to you on the quick-fast, but we aren't Apple employees.
What ended up being the solution you needed, as you said, you couldn't find any information already posted on this problem, so documenting your fix may help someone in the future.

  • New Ipod Touch not being recognised by itunes

    Hi, can someone please help!
I purchased a new iPod touch (the one with the camera )the other day and yet so far iTunes nor my computer has recognized it.
    I have tried many things:
    Updating itunes
    Uninstalling and reinstalling itunes
Unblocking itunes related software in my firewall
    Trying different USB ports
Turning ipod off and on in different ways
    Restarting computer
    Using different usb cords
Nothing has worked so far! My computer meets the requirements i think. Its a windows professional with a service pack 3 and it has usb 2.0 ports. I have a working itunes account and store and i have itunes version 10.1. My ipod has full charge also
My computer makes the noise when something is plugged in, yet my ipod is not appearing under devices on itunes. My old nano is being picked up fine yet my new ipod touch isnt!
I dont know whether i should return to the store i purchased it at or if it is a computer malfunction thats the probelm.
Please please help! I've reached a dead end!

    Try it on another computer.

  • Another "iPod Touch not being recognized in iTunes" thread

Ok, I have a 2G 32G iPod touch and it was working beautifully...but here lately it is refusing to be recognized in iTunes. I have it plugged in and it shows charging on the iPod screen, but will not come up in iTunes...I've restarted the comp and iTunes so many times it's not funny. I've followed everything from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1852 and I guess I'll need to post the results. I did reinstall iTunes as well.
First, in the Device Manager my iPod doesn't show up in the USB drop down menu like the page says it should.
Second, when I go to the Event Manager I see some errors that say "The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( iPod Service ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service started." And I have no idea what that means, as I'm not computer savy.
And I guess finally my iPod isn't showing up in my computer like some others have told me that it should. Any questions I need to answer please feel free to ask, I'll try anything I just want to be able to get iTunes to see my iPod again lol.
Thanks for all the help in advance.

I had similar problem. Touch 2G was working perfectly until a few weeks ago then when I tried to download newly purchased music, my PC would not recognize my Ipod Touch. I had this problem back in April and it was resolved with updates from Microsoft and Apple. Anyway, after trying everything in desperation I called Apple yesterday and spent 3.5 hours on the phone with a tehnician who wouldn't give up until she resolved the issue, AND SHE DID!!!! We tried a lot of things but what seemed to work and might work with you is to uninstall ALL Apple applications, Bounjour, Mobile Me, ITunes and Quicktime (you don't have to uninstall Safari) and disable any firewalls or security programs you have, restart the computer and then reinstall Itunes again, restart the computer and then try connecting your device to the computer. We also returned the IPod to the factory settings. If that is indeed your problem, you will notice the popup window, that was appearing before the problem began, telling you that the driver needed has been installed. It is a driver problem. I was so impressed with the technician and her determination to solve my problem. I hope this helps.

  • IPod Touch not being recognized in iTunes

Hello Apple Discussions, my name is Wong Meng. iPod Details: iPod Touch 4G FW: 4.2.1
I just ran across a problem with my iTouch where it would be recognized in Windows under My Computer, but iTunes would freeze and lag when it loaded when my Touch was connected. I restored my iPod, deleting some 17GB worth of media including apps I had no way of backing up, and now iTunes won't lag when I plug it in, it just takes a while to get things running. Still doesn't recognize my device. I ran diagnostics under Help > Run Diagnostics, and everything was fine except "No iPod, iPhone, or iPad found." I have the newest iTouch firmware (I hope), newest iTunes, etc. Help! Somebody help me, who has had similar experiences. Everything I tried on numerous Apple support pages like this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US have not been helpful.

  • Ipod Touch not being recognized by iTunes on ibook G4

I have an ipod Touch running 3.1.3 that I sync with my iBook G4 running 10.4.11. I've never had an issue syncing with iTunes (9.2.1) - until today. Sat down plugged in the iTouch and nothing. iPhoto is opening - which it usually does, but not iTunes. I have rebooted the computer, the iTouch.... no joy.
Can anyone help? Thanks so much!

  • Why is my iPod Touch not being recognized in iTunes, Device Manager, or my entire computer?

I have had my iPod Touch since christmas and it is now June. The version is 4.1 and it's the one with the camera. My previous cord worked fine and I never had any problems with iTunes or my iPod before. I lost my cord for about a month (actually I have no clue how long) and my dad picked one up for me yesterday. It cam in a BELKIN package with the USB cord that plugs into a wall charger or car charger. So, I needed to upload my music and when I plugged my iPod in, I went to go sync the music, and I noticed the was no "Device" column in iTunes. So, I went into "My Computer" and didn't find it in (E:) where it always used to be. Then I searched the WHOLE computer and I couldn't find it anywhere. Then I searched for help online. Everything kept telling me to go to device manager and reinstall the device and blah blah blah. BUT IT'S NOT EVEN IN THE DEVICE MANAGER!! I couldn't find it anywhere in there! So like, is my iPod completely erased from my computer forever??? I tried restarting my iPod, my computer, and I made sure my iTunes was the lastest version. I also tried 3 different USB ports and none of them worked!      SO NOW WHAT!!??  Should I try a different USB cord?? Please help!!!
              Sincerely,
Desparate Girl Who Loves Her iPod Dearly                      P.S. I have Windows XP.

You should get a genuine USB cord from Apple, to make sure your iPod 4G is supported correctly.
In addition to that see if Apple Mobile Device Service is still installed and active on your computer. More info in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

  • IPod Touch not being recognised on newly-installed OSX Leopard (10.5.4)

I have an iPod Touch (software version 2.0.2) which is not being recognised in OSX Leopard (version 10.5.4) which I just loaded onto the Powerbook G4. It was recognised under OSX 10.4, although the iPod Touch didn't launch iTunes when it was connected. It was only recognised after iTunes was launched.
I have read some previous posts about iPod Touch not being recognised. One of the recommendations is to reinstall the entire iTunes package. It this must be done to sort the problem, will all of the music in iTunes be lost?
Note my daughter's iPod, when connected, launches iTunes and is recognised.
    Help, please.

    Hi,
Reinstalling iTunes *will not* erase your music library.
As a matter of course I do, and in fact Apple recommend that you back up your music library, there is an option to do this under "File" in iTunes. It is really quite sensible to have your purchased and other music files saved elsewhere as well as on your main hard drive, it can save a lot of time and hassle.
    Good luck,
    Dud.

  • Ipod Touch not being recognised/unknown device

Ipod Touch not being recognised - help!?
    It says it's a code 43 - Unknown device/device not recognised. Doesn't sound good.
Tried all of the things the itunes website suggested such as of course turning it off and on again, restarting services, reinstalling itunes. I know from experience that when you take it in to the shop they want to charge you almost as much as you bought it for to fix a minor problem. Thanks
