HT1391 ITunes 11 saving songs to admin instead of user account

ITunes used to save my purchased songs to my User music Library. Today I purchased a song and it saved it to my Administrator account.  How can I fix this?  In addition When I try to add a file or folder to iTunes frequently iTunes doesn't recognize the song or folder in My Music Library. The file just doesn't show up in the folder box as an option. I am at a loss. Please help.

  • Is there a way to have two different iTunes for two different iPhones on one Windows User account?

    Using Windows 7, iphone 4.
I've read as many threads on these forums and as many kb's as I could find, but I sttill can't figure it out. I have 2 iPhones. Let's call them, "wife" and "hubby". I want to have two separate iTunes, one for each of the phones. Hubby is the Windoows User. I don't want to set up a different Windows User for wife.
Hubby was the original iPhone. When I plug it in, iTunes recognized it has Hubby's iPhone. Then I unplug Hubby and close iTunes. I plug in Wife but iTunes stll comes up with Hubby under Devices and syncs Hubby's iTunes to Wife's iphone.
I've tried using the shift key when I open iTunes to set up two separate .itl files to no avail.
Is there a way to have two different iTunes for two different iPhones on one Windows User account?
    Thanks!

What happens if you rename the iPhone "Wife" when it shows up as "Hubby", then choose a different set of apps/playlists to sync with? iTunes is supposed to be able to manage multiple devices, each with their own selection of content. Perhaps you "restored" "Wife" with a backup from "Hubby" when you first set things up which is now causing confusion.
To create a new library press and hold down the shift key as you click the icon to start iTunes and keep holding shift until asked to choose or create a library. You need to use the same technique to switch back.

  • ITunes silently fails to launch in just my user account

I'm running Windows XP SP3 32-bit with an administrator level account, installing iTunes for the first time ever on any of my systems in order to use it with my new iPod touch 5th gen, only to find that after install it won't launch.
Went through the Apple support instructions for a launch failure and discovered that if I created a brand new administrator level account, then ran iTunes in it, it would launch normally and go through it's new install setup, and nothing seemed to be wrong with it. So there's something about my primary user account that causes iTunes to not work at all.
When I try running iTunes, iTunes.exe will show in the Task Manager for a second or so, then vanish with no error at all. Running Process Monitor and filtering only for the iTunes process shows that it doesn't even establish a running process or any threads. There's a bunch of registry and file system access and nothing else before iTunes.exe terminates.
This has got me stumped, and all my searches haven't turned up any help on this, so I've come here. Is there any light any of you could shed on why iTunes is failing for me?

As far as I know, when you sign OUT of your Cloud account nobody will be able to use that account again until the user signs back IN
Of course... any user who does not sign out and then turns the computer off will be (I think) the "user of record" when the computer is started again

  • How can I stop iTunes from trying to start in another open user account?

When I run iTunes, it often tries to open in another open User account, causing distracting Windows warning tones.  How can I stop it from trying to automatically open in the other account?

Close iTunes before switching profiles or disable fast user switching.

  • Itunes constantly trying to open in logged in users accounts on Vista

My new computer is constantly trying to open itunes in all logged in users accounts. Once it opens in one of the accounts it will continually make an error noise everytime it tries to open again because it obviously can only open in one account so the other accounts are getting the "unable to load.." message. When the logged in users go back into their account it will have what seems like 50 of the error messages. It is even trying to open in the users account that does not have an itunes account. This is very annoying. Please help! Thanks

If it is a new computer and you haven't installed anything except firefox, maybe there was something preinstalled on it. IIRC some Roxio software can be configured so that it starts up iTunes at system start for example.
One way to investigate this is to do a selective start up using MSConfig. Start off with just the essential items and the iTunes related programs as in this article.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US
If the problem disappears with the selective startup, start adding stuff back a few items at a time until the problem comes back.
It's a bit of a sledge hammer to crack a nut I am afraid, but it should allow you to identify the problem.

  • Access admin share from Users account. UAC into admin.

    Server 2012 R2 domain.
I want USERS to be able to UAC into Admins and access Admins shares.
To be clear: I want to type \\svr1.horse.local\c$ from a USER account without Admin rights, to be able to access that share.
I have added LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy, and set it to 1. No difference, and yes I have restarted. :)

    Hi,
Another way to access Administrative Shares is to Disable UAC Admin Approval mode for all administrator accounts.
Checkout the below link for article on Access Denied for Admin Shares, Disabling the UAC restrictions and Disabling UAC Admin Approval mode,

  • Root/admin access for user account

I'm not sure the best way to explain this, but, I want my user account to be able to write/read ANY file on my HDD. How do I enable that in Lion? I've already added my user to the admin group, but, to no avail. Essentially I want to do $> sudo chmod -R a+rwx /, but, without having to do that.
Yes, I understand that your everyday account shouldn't have this type of access and you should only elevate privleges when necessary. W/ that in mind, I'd really appreciate answers (or links) detailing how to do this and not explaining why I shouldn't do this.
Thanks, and let me know if I should explain what I need in more detail.
    - Matt

The top level of the hard drive has always been an admin-only area. In 10.6 and earlier, the admin group could write there. Now in 10.7, only root can write there. It was changed for security reasons. Apple realized that not many people are following their security guidelines and are running as admin users all the time, and so they have tightened up security in Lion.
User files should not be put there. Put them in your home folder or in /Users/Shared if you wish multiple users to access them.

  • Possible to create separate passwords for admin and main user account?

    Hello,
My ex wife is going to lend me her Macbook so I can open a separate account to transfer 30K critical business emails from my current Macbook Pro to Mail.app whilst it gets replaced by Apple.
I still need to work with these emails over the week I'll be left without the computer.
I was thinking, when requesting to import the mailboxes from my External HD, will it ask for a administrators password?
She's a bit paranoid about giving me it if that's the case, even though I couldn't give a toss... so is there a way to password protect her main user account with one password, and create another admin password for importing an external mail folder - as OSX sometimes asks for an admin password to install apps etc.
If I can just use a guest account and import the 'Mail' and 'Mail Downloads' folders from my library to a separate Mail.app on her computer without a password, then great.
If it's the case the admin password is needed, please let me know ASAP so we can make arrangements for her to hang around to type it in whilst I initially make the transfer - which would be a right royal pain because I'd have to tidy the house up and put some putpourri out and ****.
    TIA

She can create a new account for you to use. She can set it up as a new Standard account which restricts you from admin privileges. You can use the same username and password as you use on your machine. You will have access to the standard OS X applications such as Mail so you can download your email into a separate account. This can be configured to be exactly the same Mail account you use on your machine.
Once your use of her machine is finished and you've transferred your data to your machine, she can log into her admin account and delete the Standard account you were using.

  • No connection to apps store or iTunes after download of mountain lion on "other" user accounts on this mac

after downloading mountain lion my other two users are unable to access i tunes /or apps store . There seems to be alot of "querky" thing that have become a problem useing since this download ,has anyone had similare problems?

Don't quote me on this, but I think that the rules may have changed for Mountain Lion and you may need either 2 matching pairs or at least matching modules installed in both bottom slots.
as per > iMac: How to remove or install memory
Additional notes i5 and i7 Quad Core iMac computers come with both top memory slots populated. These computers will not start up if only a single DIMM is installed in any bottom slot; these computers should operate normally with a single DIMM installed in any top slot. Core Duo iMac computers should operate normally with a single DIMM installed in any slot, top or bottom. ("Top" and "bottom" slots refer to the orientation of the slots in the pictures below. "Top" refers to the slots closest to the display; "bottom" refers to the slots closest to the stand).

  • Sharing Itunes library between an admin and user account on one imac G5

    Hello,
Please forgive the repetitive question. i have set up an admin and a user account on my iMac. I set the itunes library to users/shared/music/itunes/itunes library on both accounts. The music shows up on the admin account but not the user account.
Can anyone give a quick step by step including obscure settings that may need to be altered so that I can finally get this pesky stress monkey off my shoulder!
    Thanks!

  • Safari 5 seems to have slowed the OS for my Admin user account

After installing Safari 5 (now 5.0.2), and after a few Safari hangs and force quits, my OS for my Admin user account has become slow. Opening folders and seeing the contents is slow; moving small documents from folder to folder is very slow; cutting and pasting text in a MS Word document sometimes takes two or three tries, as the text highlighting cursor function has slowed. (Interestingly, Safari's basic click and pageload functions seem to work fairly normally, but with the same highlighting and copy/paste slowness that affects all other programs. Also, my mouse pointer moves quickly as per normal.)
However, I created a new user account as a test comparison and found that the new user account is NOT slow. It works perfectly fine.
Any thoughts on what I should do? Is my original Admin account corrupted? Is it possible to simply move my personal files (Word docs, iTunes songs, bookmarks) to the new user account and then delete my original Administrator account?
What should I do? Thanks everyone.

Well, it was worth a shot.
How full is your hard drive? Always a good starting point for diagnosing slowdowns.
Sometimes running periodic maintenance scripts helps, because it cleans some caches that a Safari reset won't. The scripts are supposed to run automatically in the wee hours of the morning when most people are computing, but the problem is that they only run if the computer is on and not sleeping. Not too realistic.
This article in an excellent series of "keep the Apple sweet" articles talks about the scripts and how to run them manually:
    http://thexlab.com/faqs/maintscripts.html
They are less important in later incarnations of Mac OSX as some o the tasks they do were shifted to start-up, but doing them is worth trying.
Also use Activity Monitor to check for a runaway background process. It's possible that this could affect only one user account. If you've not used Activity Monitor before, make sure you change its "Show" option from the default of "My Processes" to "All Processes" or you might miss some nasty troublemakers. Also click in the "%CPU" column header to sort by processor usage. With no user apps running, (basically an idling computer) no single process should demand more than ~5 percent of the processor. Let AM display for a few minutes while you watch it, as some processes toggle back and forth as they activate.
Running any anti-virus software? Most does more Mac-harm than Mac-good.
    Keep us posted!

  • Limiting iTunes and QuickTime to one User Account in WinXP

I'm the Dad and the admin on my XP machine.
I have 3 non-admin accounts for the kids.
Only 1 kid has an iPod and uses iTunes.
No one else uses or needs iTunesHelper, iPodService, or QTTASK.EXE.
I know that I can kill each service inidividually from Task Manager, but the non-admin accounts can't. They suffer the slowdown caused by these services running from the background and constantly going out to the web for un-needed and unwanted activities such as checking the Apple Store, etc.
    I don't want this behavior.
I want to prevent these services from loading and running for all User Accounts except the one.
Please give me steps to limit these services!!!
      Windows XP

As far as I can tell, this is NOT a solution.
As I try to allow the one User Account to load and run the services, ALL accounts are forced to load and run them.
As I try to disable the services from loading and running on other accounts, they won't load and run on the one User Account that I want them to.
Does ANYone know of a way to disable iTunes, iPodHelper, and qttask from loading on selected User Accounts?

  • One iTunes Library, multiple user accounts?

    Hi,
I recently purchased a new iMac 21.5" for my Family and want to share my iTunes library with my wife's OS X user account so we can both access the same music/media on both accounts. Is there an easy way to do this? Maybe place the files in a "shared" folder?
Also, What's the best way to move my iTunes media to my new Mac from my old PC?
    Thanks,
    C

The Apple store will move everything from the pc to the mac or you can call Apple Support and they will help you do it.
If you type "share itunes library" into the search bar at the top of this page next to "Support" and find articles to show you how to do this.

  • Syncing iTunes Library between multiple user accounts

Is it possible for iTunes to automatically sync music libraries between two user accounts on Windows XP?

If I understand your question correctly , you can have identical libraries (contents, playlists and all) if you set each user's account to reference the same .itl file.
Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base for details on how to do so.
By using the Choose Library option and linking the accounts to the same .itl file, the libraries will be the same and changes made to one will be reflected in the others.
Post back if you need any further details.
