HT1430 Anyone else having gmail problems after updating iphone?
I just updated my iphone and now I cannot receive my gmail emails. Do I need to change of the settings? Error message reads "imap.gmail.com" is not responding.
I deleted my gmail account and created it again. Worked right away

Is anyone else having major problems after updating to 10.4.8???
It seems like most of the directly-related-to-OS X programs on my Power Mac are going screwy since updating. DVD Player freaks out after pausing, iChat won't let me video chat, my CPU fans occasionally go into turbo mode... heck, the performance of my Power Mac is generally poorer than before this update. Anyone else having issues right now?
A Mac expert buddy of mine did observe that if Apple releases a not-so-great update to the OS, usually the next one kicks butt. But my patience is wearing thin...Hello Paul.

Did you check the hard drive for any directory problems with Disk First Aid repair via Disk Utility when booted from your Tiger install package before installing the 10.4.8 Update?
Did you disconnect all external peripheral devices and quit all running applications before the install?

If there is no change after performing all system troubleshooting procedures per the link provided, did you use Software Update to install the 10.4.8 Update?
If so, download the 10.4.8 PPC Combo Update and try re-installing it.

After each and every major OS update is released by Apple, there are a significant number of posts here claiming the update killed this or that or reporting a particular problem always blamed on the update. If there is a 10.4.9 update released by Apple, it will be no different here afterwards.
Although there have been times a portion of a particular major OS update is determined to be the cause of a reported problem, this is usually quickly addressed by Apple but for the most part, the process of installing a major OS update brings an unnoticed/underlying problem to the surface which is not caused by the update. -
I installed iOS 5.0.1 on my Iphone 3GS. I never can not write in my calendar. Anyone else having this problem after their upgrade?
I was going to suggest - Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings, but if you are restoring to factory settings, that should restore the settings back to factory defaults. But if you are restoring from a backup, after restoring to factory settings, try resetting all of the settings and see if that fixes it.
It might be something in your backup. -
My wife preordered a white iPhone 4s for our anniversary and even though it is preloaded with the ios 5, i am a little disappointed. The battery doesn't seem to hold a charge well at all. I have had every other iphone except the 3gs and have never had such a poor battery life. I owned the iPhone 4 for a year, and already know all the tricks to hold on to battery life, I have adopted the habit of closing out any apps that weren't being used, my mail push notifications are set for hourly, wifi and bluetooth are turned off when they aren't needed. I also stay away from any car chargers, use only the apple brand supplied cables, and only charge when the phone is dead. I only would sync when the phone was about to die as well.
When I saw how fast I was burning through the battery, I turned off Siri, which is kind of the purpose of the new iPhone, and turned off the backing up to iCloud. I barely used my phone today and the battery kept ticking down. My wife, who has been stuck with an iPhone 3g for years, has been fascinated with my old iPhone 4 and has been browsing and playing games and her battery has been holding a better charge than my new phone. I even tried turning the phone off for an hour when it was at 18% and when I turned it back on, it was at 15%. My iPhone 2, which is only being used as a touch iPod now, still has better standby time than a brand new iPhone 4s.
To be honest, I am usually a heavy phone user. Throughout the day I will make and receive at least 50 calls, I browse and check websites daily and watch videos sometimes during my downtime. But this weekend, I haven't even had the chance to put this phone through the same abuse my other 3 iPhones have had to endure.
I just want to know if anyone else has this problem, or if I should just return this one.I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

Anyone else having this problem after 4.0 update?
I just updated my Ipod Touch to the latest version, 4.0 software, as I'm sure most of you have.
I'm wondering if anyone else is having an issue with the battery draining very very quickly? I have changed nothing on my Itouch, except for the update. All my push notifications are off and I have double checked that. I haven't downloaded any new apps, still using the same ones I always use. My internet connection is still the same as I have checked that too.
My battery is running down so quickly without using any apps that I have had to charge it twice in the last 8 or so hours. Where as before the update, I used to charge is either once a day or everyone few days, depending on what I did with it.
So if anyone else is experiencing this, please let me know. Or if you know how to fix this problem I would appreciate some advice on that too!I am having this same exact issue with my 2nd generation touch. I saw on some other topics that having wifi on all the time is the problem. I tried turning it off, but it didn't help. You could try that though and see if it helps. But on my iPod, even in Airplane Mode, it drains the battery like a Hummer wastes gas. Incidentally, if turning off wifi works for you, great! Except to me that pretty much defeats the whole purpose of having a touch. Might as well have a nano or Classic. Having to turn of wifi each time you want to check email or use an app that requires wifi is silly. wifi should simply go off when you put the iPod to sleep. But here's the thing. Even with the old version of the software, I could listen to Pandora for 3-4 hours a day (of course requires wifi) and I wouldn't need to charge the iPod but once every couple of days. Now, I can't go 8 hours without the thing draining to 20% warning. To me that says that something else is running the background and that wifi isn't the only problem.

Anyone else having mic problems after 5.1?
I updated to ios 5.1 and now Siri and the voice memo can't hear me unless I hold the phone to my mouth literally shout into the mic. Anyone else have the same problem? I think it's just the iOS update.
I have had problems with my mic, only since updating to 5.1 last week. Intermittently, during a phone call, I can hear the other person saying, "Hello, hello, are you there?" and sometimes after about ten seconds or so they can hear me again. But it goes in and out and is very frustrating. I've never had this problem before and have had iPhones for years. Will have to go to the genius bar I suppose. Hopefully I'm still under warranty.

If you plug-in the headphone, does the sound come through
and the volume buttons work?

After updating my 4s to ios6, I'm having the same problems with wi-fi switching to cellular on it's own and running up my data usage.....anyone else having this problem?
The iPhone is DESIGNED to switch to cellular data when asleep, unless it's connected to a power source, in which case it will stay logged onto the WiFi network. iPhones have ALWAYS behaved this way.
Either turn cellular data off at night, or leave your phone connected to a power source to continue the WiFI. -
After installing the above mentioned update, my ipad will no longer turn on. I have just a black screen with the apple logo when I attach it to a power source. Anyone else having this problem, please advise on how to fix.
IF RESET DOESN'T WORK, FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

Well, if they have truly disappeared then something is really messed up. For really messed up stuff, you need to set it to factory default condition, and then afterwards, restore it from your backup.

Firefox is crashing every time I have my MSN email account up. (Since I use it for business, that's many times per day.) It seems to coincide with hotmail's latest update where the email is checked and downloaded to the inbox automatically. Then when it asks me if I want to send the crash report to Firefox, I select yes and it tells me it had trouble sending the report. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a setting I can change? I can't seem to keep my email account up for more than 10 minutes.
p.s if you're reading this Microsoft, it's still not bad enough to make me to go back to Internet Explorer!Hi,

I have been into computers for about 25 years now and it really ticks me off that after all these years these companys can not put out something that works.
