HT4623 My Mac & iPad recognizes my wifi but the Safari says I'm not connected to the internet why
My Mac & ipad both reconizes my wifi but when I tried to get on the internet, Safari says I'm not connected, why?
This may be on the carrier-side of the problem. Contact your 3G provider to see if they have a solution to this situation.

Suddenly, my HP Laserjet 6mp won't print. The icon says it's in use (but it isn't), at other times it says it's not connected (but it is). Help!
That page's troubleshooting for the "Filter failed" message worked out. I consulted the Wiki before but never found that exact page. I guess I didn't use the best search criteria. Thanks for pointing it out.

my ipad frequently says "I am not connected to internet" although it is and there is a good signal. after a while it connects regularly. what could be the problem?
You can try these things and see if it helps.
Tap Settings, then tap Safari on the left side. Then on the right side - tap clear history, clear cookies, clear cache. Clear all three. Reboot your iPad. Hold down on the sleep button at the top until the red slider appears and slide to power off. Then hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and the iPad will restart. Launch Safari and see if helped.
If that doesn't help, try this. Tap Settings, then tap General on the left side, then scroll down on the right side and tap Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings at the top. Reboot your iPad as described above. Launch Safari and log on to the Internet. You may have to enter your network password again when you reset Network Settings.
Renew the Lease in WiFi by going to Settings>WiFi>Network Name>Renew Lease. Reboot your iPad and try Safari again. -

Ethernet is 'connected' BUT safari says 'you are not connected'...?
Hello, I am baffled. I am helping my Mum and Dad's to set up their new iMac. All OK bar the connection to the Internet.
They have a new Broadband account with the ISP 'Talk Talk' (I know they are not necessariliy the best!). It is a DSL connection and I am using the 'Built in Ethernet' as the link to the Ethernet port of the SmartAX 882 Modem, as supplied by the ISP. In networking the Built in Ethernet is showing blue - "you are connected to the internet", Yet when I load Safari it does not connect and the page "your computer is not connected to the internet" comes up after a couple of minutes.
The modem 'link' light is steady green and the LAN light shows solid amber. I have added and saved the settings in the modem many times. The ISP support folks have said that the link light should go solid amber though this does not happen. I have rebboted and reconnected all the kit many times - still no joy.
So, any idea where the problem may be? is it the modem settings? is it the network settings?
PS: I have tried typing in the IP adress of a web page (e.g. http://17.254.70.0.91 etc..) to check whether there is a problem with DNS server settings, though no page loads.
Many thanks folks - any help on this would be appreciated.
Graham
PPS My Dad's Mac is a 17" intel iMac OS 10.4.9
iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.3.9)Hi iGraham!
I have no familiarity with that setup, but the problem sounds similar to some who use the wrong port on the router.
Perhaps you can find a specific answer to your problem in this forum
edit-
An alternative resolution to using a different router port would be to setup the Network panel of System Preferences with a LAN configuration instead of with an Ethernet configuration. After clicking on the "Assist me..." button, instead of clicking on the "Diagnostics..." button, click on the blue "Assistant..." button and then choose a LAN connection rather than ethernet. The result will be that you will end up with an entirely new "Location" rather than just another edit of your current "Location" - then to change from one "location" to another switch the "Location:" selector and hit the "Apply Now" button to avoid making unnecessary edits. Once you've switched the location and "applied" it, you'll see that your other settings are different than the ones necessary to make your original "Location" work. -
Safari says I'm not connected, when I really am.
Has anyone ever had this problem? I'm loading a page when my internet goes out, so I get the message that I can't access the page because I'm not connected to the internet (Facebook, for example). So when my internet comes back, and I reload Facebook, I still get the same message that it cannot connect to Facebook because I'm not connected to the internet. Furthermore, if I go to another site, like ESPN, and then try going back to Facebook, it AGAIN says I cannot load Facebook because I'm not connected to the internet (even though I have an active connection).
HI,
Somehow someway your reply got deleted. Would you mind replying one more time with the info re your internet connections... so sorry. It was there one second and gone the next.
Here are the suggestions I made before...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
If you have Safari 3rd party plugins or Input Managers go here for trouble shooting.

If you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, try running in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. *Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*
~/Library/Cookies and move the Cookies.plist file to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.
This just came through my e-mail notification but not here... I will notify a moderator prompt.
*"I use an AT&T Gateway router. The service, I believe, is high speed DSL. What's funny is that it just happened again while trying to post this reply. :/"*
Try disconnecting the router for about 5 minutes from it's power source then turn it back on... do the same for your Mac. See if that helps.
Also, go to Safari/Preferences - Security and deselect: Warn when visiting a fraudulent website

Ipad 2 safari says I'm not connected to the internet
i have put a microsim into my ipad and it has a 3G network. Every time I try to open to the net using safari it tells I'm not connected to the internet, but I am. I'm not sure what's going on. It's fine in wi-fi areas. I don't have wifi at home so I use the sim. But it won't connect properly.
This may be on the carrier-side of the problem. Contact your 3G provider to see if they have a solution to this situation.

Safari says I'm not connected to Internet-Airport says I am w/good signal
I've moved. I am using AT&T DSL as Internet Service Provider. My PC/Base station is running VIsta Home. The Base station router is LINKSYS Wireless-G Microsoft Broadband. It's all interfaced beautifully before with my iMac and MacBook Pro.
Since the move, However, I've had a problem. The "Internet Connect" on my MacBook Pro shows I am connected to Linksys. The signal strength has all bars lighted blue. The tool bar "fan" has also bars black. However, when I click on Safari the display reads 'Safari cannot open the page because you are not connected to the internet." The PC Base station (from which I am writing this note)is on the Internet using the AT&T DSL connection, and apparently the MacBook Pro reads the wireless signal, too. Never had this happen before to any wifi signal with my MacBook Pro...any ideas what is causing the conflicting reports? Thanks.Hi, a few ideas...
Go to System Preferences
Click Network
Highlight AirPort and click Configure...
Choose “By default, join: Preferred networks”
Select your access point and Remove your access point with the minus button.
Launch your keychain access in Utilities and delete your access point keychain entry.
Reboot
Go back to the “By default, join:” page and click the plus this time to add your access point. Enter the correct password, save, reboot.
Open System Preferences>Network>Configure>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106653
Another thing that has worked for many is to just copy/duplicate that Location in Network>Location>Edit Locations..., then use that one.
The Interface that connects to the Internet, needs to be drug to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations and checked ON.
Then... Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Then Apply
DNS Servers are a bit like Phone books where you look up a name and it gives you the phone number, in our case, you put in apple.com and it comes back with 17.149.160.49 behind the scenes.
These Servers have been patched to guard against DNS poisoning, and are faster/more reliable than most ISP's DNS Servers. -
Safari says I'm not connected to internet
This sometimes happens, I can access my e-mail and I am connected, but I still get this message.
Does anyone know why this would happen?Power off the router. Wait awhile. Power it back on. Wait until all the lights are lit up properly.
It will take a while. Restart the computer.
Start up in Safe Mode

My iPad 2 is connected to wireless, but safari says it's not connected to the internet
My wife went on a trip and took our iPad 2 with her. While she was gone, I had to replace our wireless router (we use AT&T U-Verse). Wireless works fine on my iMac and on my iPhone 4, but not on the iPad. I've put in the correct wireless information (Settings says it's connected to the wireless), but I can't connect to the internet. I've tried updating the software, as well as rebooting my iPad. Suggestions????
Here are several things that you can try that might help.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Check Settings>General>Date &Time>Set Automatically>On.
Reset your router by unplugging it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in again. -
My iPad 2 was updated to iOS 6.0 and now I cannot use Logo Quiz purchased version, or crossword Solver. What can I do about this?
Contact the developer of the apps in question.

ITunes says I'm not connected to the internet
When I try to update my iPhone, iTunes says: iTunes could not contact the iPhone software update server because you are not connected to the internet. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again.
