The default playlists are just Smart Playlists and you can recreate them. In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
    Recently Added:
Match the rule "Date Added">"is in the last">"1">"Days" make the days and the interval to suit yourself, you can have days, weeks or months.
Also check the box "Live Updating"

  • I accidentally deleted my Recently Added playlist

Hi all! I accidentally deleted my Recently Added playlist. I made a new one with the smart playlist thing but I cannot get any new songs to automatically add to it. Does anyone know how to get songs to automatically add to it? I'm devastated without this playlist. It was my favorite. Thank you so much!

Any idea why the recently added list is set to 2 weeks? I would rather have had it set indefinately, so it always shows the last say 100 tracks. I seem to be abel to edit it to 100 tracks and set a date of 'in the last 12 months', but the date settings seems reluctant to accept an wild card asterisk.
    No major worries...

  • I accidentally deleted the "Recently Added" playlist from my iTunes Library

I accidentally deleted my "Recently Added" file that comes as one of the standard files with the iTunes program. I have been unable to get it back and sure would like this file as it is easier to trace new additions. Anyone know how I can do this? I tried just adding a new file but it does not recognize new additions.

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
To recreate the default *Recently Added* smart playlist:
Click *File > New Smart Playlist...*
Click the + symbol to the right hand side
The first line should now read:
Match all of the following rules
Change the next two lines to read
*Date Added is in the last 2 weeks*
    *Media Kind is not Podcast*
There should also be a tick against *Live updating*
Click OK and set the playlist name to *Recently Added*

  • Delete from Recently Played Playlist

I use iTunes to preview songs I've downloaded, and I would like the ability to delete songs from the Recently Added playlist. How about you?

I got on here looking for a solution to this problem and found none... this was the only thread that even looked promising.
So, it dawned on me that I could create a rule that would eliminate the songs I didn't want to hear again just now (Christmas ones that are no longer in season, obviously). And I didn't want to lessen the period of time it went back to get music.
    Here's what I did:
    1. Select the songs you want to remove from the list. "Reset plays" for those items.
    2. In the "edit Smart Playlist" window for "Recently Played" create a new rule so that "Plays" "is greater than" "0" Make sure "Match ALL following rules" is checked if you've got more than one.

  • Recently Played Playlist Deleted

So, I accidentally deleted my Recently Played Playlist on iTunes... is there anyway I can recover it without deleting iTunes and reinstalling it? I looked all over the help and support sections of iTunes and the website and couldn't find anything.
    Hp laptop   Windows XP

In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
    Recently Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Songs">selected by "Most recently played" make the "limit to" to suit yourself.

  • In iTunes I accidentally deleted my "Recently Added" wheel playlist.  How do I get it back?

I was trying to clean up my playlists in iTunes and in doing so accidentally deleted my "Recently Added" wheel playlist.  I really want it back so I can see what I have recently added when I download or open things in iTunes.  Is there any way to get this wheel back?

Forget question.  Just saw solution elsewhere on this site.

I accidentally deleted the "Recently Added" default playlist from iTunes. Any way to recover and reinstall it?

    File > New Smart Playlist
Call it "Recently Added" and make the rule that date added is in the last 2 weeks (or your preference for "recent").

  • Deleted my Recently Added Playlist.

I just accidentally deleted my recently added and playlist and can not for the life of me figure out how to put it back. I know I could just make a playlist called Recently Played, but the songs I just downloaded wouldn't go into it. How do I get the playlist back?

Woah sorry about that last post I was thinking two different things at once. My problem is I deleted me Recently Added list, and can't figure out how to put it back.

  • IPod Mini 'Recently Played' playlist not updating...any ideas?

Does anyone have any idea why my 'Recently Played' playlist on my
iPod mini would suddenly stop updating itself?
I tried to fix it by connecting to my computer and deleting the playlist
through iTunes and creating a new 'Smart Playlist' with exactly the
same settings of the last 'Recently Played' playlist but now, the new
'Recently Played' playlist on the iPod is just staying the same, its not
updating, its the songs that were played on my computer before I
disconnected my iPod, so it's not even the songs from my iPod...
Hope that makes sense.....anyone got any ideas?

I'm not a user of smart playlists, but could it have something to do with this?

  • Recently Played playlist syncing issues

    Hi Apple friends,
I've noticed some odd behaviour with my iPhone 4 since either iOS 5 or my purchase of iTunes Match (I can not recall which is accurate).
I've read a lot about playlist issues with iOS 5 but I have not heard a mention of anything similar to my situation. I usually sync the default playlists of Recently Played and Recently Added with my iPhone 4 running the latest iOS 5.0.1. I am familiar with the Recently Added bug of reversing the order of the playlist and I thin I can live pretty comfortably with that.
Recently Played however will not sync at all. iTunes says it is syncing and in fact it even names newly played files that are syncing over, but they never appear on the phone. In fact, the recently played playlist that is synced successfully at first will slowly get smaller and smaller as if it was actually keeping a count of recently played songs on my phone (which is obviously played less often) when it is supposed to be a count of recently played songs on my iMac.
Even opening up the playlist viewer of what is on my iPhone in iTunes shows the playlist as the proper size of ~200 tracks but then in reality, Music.app shows ~90 tracks at the moment. iTunes never reports an error during sync and a restore to defaults worked with the first sync but it has since gone back to this behaviour.
I had a bunch of 3G problems (Rogers, eh?) with iTunes Match, so I have long had it disabled for months now on my phone. I don't think this can be the issue, although iTunes Match did have a lot of playlist problems when I had it enabled, but many forum posts have shown me that a lot of people had those issues anyways.
I have also tried switching between USB and Wi-fi Sync with no success... Has anyone else seen a similar issue?
My Recently Played playlist uses this filter:
    1. "Last Played" is in the last "2 weeks"
    2. "Media Kind" is "Music"
    3. Match only ticked items
    4. Playlist is live updating (Could this be it?)

My Recently played playlist is not correct. My setting is:
Match all of the following rules:
Last played is in last 3 days
    Playlist is Music
    Media kind is not Podcast
but it does not work, the playlist is not correct.
Delete the rule saying "Playlist is Music" and see what you get.
Also, make sure you have it set for Live Updating.
