HT1766 My iPad will not allow me to type in my password. Curser is blinking but what i begin typing it just does not recognize that i am printing

Is there any process I can use to allow me to type into my iPad my password. When I open up the device it sets itself up for me to type in my password. The cursor is blinking, the key pad comes up but it does not recognize that I am typing in the password. The cursor remains in the same position. However it will still play a sideshow of my photos, play music but I cant get into the iPad to operate it to get emails, or operate Safari etc. Is there any thing I can do other than take it to a technician? .

    Saw this on another post.
    Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

    If the normal restart doesn't work, and you restart on the recovery hard drive, from the choices of things to do window that appears, select Terminal, and in the Terminal window type: resetpassword and then press enter.  You will have a window with the users to choose from to reset the password.  Select the one you want and you will be able to reset the password, double entry of course.

    The old computer is a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
    The new one is a 2.3 GHz intel core i7
    In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem.  Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page.  Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
    If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them. 
    (I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.)

    Hi. My macbook crashed a couple days ago and files were corrupted and I became very frustrated, so I just backed up my important files on an external hard drive and did an erase and reinstall. Last night I logged in to our wifi last night after several attempts and finally remembering that I needed to put a $ in front of the password the first time. I chose not to save the password in the keychain at the time because I wasn't sure if I remembered correctly and if it would really work. So today, our wifi was acting up and I closed airport, reopened it, and tried to type in the WEP password again. Only this time, after I typed the $ and some numbers, it wouldn't let me type the next letter in the password. I thought my keyboard was broken so I typed some random letters to see what was going on, and it would only let me type "abcdef". None of the other letters worked. I opened Text Edit to see what I could type in there, and magically, every letter worked. I went back to type in the password, but I omitted the $ and now it let me type the entire password. That didn't work though because I need the $ for it to log me in. I tried to paste the $ in after I typed the whole password and that didn't work. I was able to type the $ at the end, so I tried dragging it to the beginning, but that didn't work. I have no idea what to do. Please help! AND THANK YOU!

    The next iOS update won't change this.
    Are you able to transfer anything else from your iTunes library and computer via the iTunes sync process such as a movie, TV show, podcast, audio or print book, apps, and photos from your computer?
    What is selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

    the original apple id was entered incorrectly. Apple says it must be a email address.  My email address is correct but the letter ( t ) somehow got added to the (.com) so that when i try to enter my id it is automaticly loaded with the email address the ends ( .comt ) . According to Apple this is not a "legal" email id.  But it appears on my dropdown in gray and i cannot alter it or delete it, thus preventing me from downloading software updates.

    You know that you lost the layers when you saved it as a jpeg, right? But you're saying you can't add layers to the jpeg now when it's open in the editor? Go to Image>mode and be sure it's RGB, for starters. Are all the commands in the Layer menu grayed out?

    My typing cursor frequently goes crazy, not allowing me to type and jumping from place to place, deleting letters. Suddenly, a line I have typed will be highlighted and deleted at will.  Also, mouse cursor moves at will, opening multiple  pages in seconds. Help!  What could be causing this, and how can I stop it?
    I've had my Macbook pro for over a year and it has never done this before. Restarting the computer fixes the problem temporarily.

    My first thought was the hard drive and OS has a built in Sudden Motion Sensor whcih will stop the hard drive heads from crashing into the platters when the computer is moved suddenly. This does work most of the time and could cause some of the tings you are seeing.
    But then after reading more of your first post it seems your system and drive is doing some very strange things.
    It would be best to first take it into an Apple Genius Bar and have it looked at. They can run tests on it and since it is still in the original 1 year warranty this should not cost you anything even if something needs to be replaced.
    You can also run the Apple Hardware Test on it your self by connecting it to the Net by Ethernet cable and booting holding down the d key or the Command+d keys. That will boot the computer from the Apple internet servers and load the AHT.

  • Will not allow me to change a user password

    Okay this is a little different. This has gotten me a little puzzled and I am hoping someone with some knowledge about File Vault etc can help.
    I have this machine where there is a user name and a password (that we can't remember) with File Vault turned on. We know the master password however the master password will not allow us to change the users password.
    We have tried changing the Master Password to ensure that the password is not the issue and that was successful. We tried using the Master Password to try and change another user account (not with File Vault turned on) and it gives us no problems.
    I have tried changing the password in System preferences and I get an error message CSSMERRCODE_MEMORYERROR. I tried going to the login screen letting the login attempts time out where it asks for the master password, then it prompts me to reset the password. No matter what I put in the "new" and "verify" (yes they both match) the screen just shakes and won't let me go any further.
    I have repaired the permissions and tried resetting the password with the Leopard DVD and also came across no luck. Because the User has File Vault turned on I can not even back up the data so I just delete the account and re-create the user!
    I am really stuck here and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Okay strangely enough, I tried to reset the password back. We had an old File Vault password that we changed to the current one and then changed again during this process. So taking what you said, I reset the Master password to the original one we had a long time ago. It did not allow us to change the password. However when I changed it back to the one we had changed it to a second time, it wouldn't let me change it at the login screen but it allowed me to change it in the Account Management under System Preferences.
    So it is fixed. Needless to say I disabled File Vault and it will never be used again! Thank you for your reply it definitely helped me resolve this issue.

    I found the cause but no solution, it's actually a plugin that does that: divx plus weblpayer (it gets installed when you install DivX on your system), if you disable it and restart firefox it all works again. But I want that plugin... so DivX need to fix this, unless it is a Firefox bug in its own core... anyway these two together creates the problem.
    (I'm running Firefox 9.x on OSX Lion)
    I also wish firefox tab tear out tab worked more like chrome's tab tear out, much friendlier...

    What a mess the Apple ID, and associating emails, ID etc has got itself in

    Ramesh,
    once you cerate a Status profile in BS02 and add status to the same. in the tollbar you will see OBJECT TYPE push button, select teh obejcts like PP/PM order header / operation /comepeoent and PRT ect where that staus can be applied.
    Then assign the statsu profile to order type.
