If you already created an Apple ID, you have to enter a credit card in order to use that ID now. If you don't have a credit card at all, you will have to create a new Apple ID to use without a credit card and you will need to have another email address in order to do this.
First you will have to sign out of your current ID in Settings> iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. You can tap the ID and tap Sign Out. Now you can proceed with creating a new Apple ID according to the instructions in here.

You are saying that you don't have a credit card, but if you had one, you could enter the credit card in order to use the ID that you already created, but you never have to use it. You can use gift cards or just download free content. But unless you create the ID as outlined above, you must enter payment details.

You need to be in a country to use its store - if you are not in the US with a US billing address then you cannot use the US store.

You can change the e-mail address associated with an account.
All purchases will always be tied to the account form which they were purchased. -

It sounds like you have a user account named Ghost, that you want to delete all content from and remove from the computer. This article will help you do that named:

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Users & Groups or click Parental Controls.
Click the lock icon to unlock it, and then type an administrator name and password.
Select the user account you want to delete, and then click Delete below the account list.
Do one of the following:
Select “Save the home folder in a disk image” to save the folder as a disk image in /Users/Deleted Users/.
Select “Don’t change the home folder” to leave the home folder in /Users/.
Select “Delete the home folder” to remove it from the computer. If you want to prevent programs that read raw data from retrieving any files, select “Erase home folder securely.”
Click OK.
Keep in mind, if you remove the user and delete the data, without Time Machine you will not be able to restore any data from it in the future.

If you have had unexpected charges on your Apple ID, you need to contact Apple. Your Apple ID has probably been hacked. Apple can reverse the charges.
You will also, of course, need to change your Apple ID password, after logging in here:

It would also be wise to change the password on any e-mail accounts associated with your Apple ID, as well as to enable two-factor authentication to make future hacks impossible without physical access to a device like your cell phone.

Is there a way to open an apple store account without adding card info?
I want to have an apple store account for 2 reasons only.
1. To download the art covers for my music
2. So iTunes stops asking me every 30 seconds 'do I want an iTunes account'
At the end of registering I realised that apple are asking for my card details. I can't seem to bypass this. Is there a way to create an account without adding my card details?
If not and I have to add my card details in. Can i just check - I only pay something if i download a piece of music, movie, game etc. and there are no other charges?

You have to put a credit card. It is mandatory to verify in which country you're living and for Apple to validate in which Store your can buy music if you want to do so.
But if you never buy music, your credit card won't be charge at all. Don't worry about this.
You'll also be able to download the free song of the week, which is completly free each week. And for your cover art, it will not be a charge at all too.

I choose Paypal since that is what I am going to use, I cannot use any of the credit card options. A browser (Firefox) pops up. I go through the steps, successfully verify my Paypal credentials, and I get to a screen where I can go back to itunes. When I click on "return to merchant" a screen comes up that says itunes cannot be found on my computer. When I click on the button to manually find itunes it sends me to the credit card selection screen in itunes. At the top of the screen it says my Paypal account will be used, but when I click continue it acts as though I've chosen to use a credit card but haven't filled out any of the fields. If I click on Paypal again I go through the above steps again in a loop.
To try to fix this I uninstalled Firefox to try to use Internet Explorer 7. I went to the Apple/itunes store site and searched for music in the little black box to the side. I find the music I want, click the button to listen in itunes and it goes in fine, to the artist I searched for, so the problem of not being able to get into itunes from the browser is fixed. When I try to launch itunes from a link in Firefox, I always get the "can't find itunes on your computer message". Now, the problem with IE7 is that when I go through the account creation steps in itunes and select Paypal as my payment method, a new browser window with the Paypal verifcation steps won't come up.
Please help me people, I just want to spend my hard earned cash on music. Thanks to anyone who reads this.

I've created a store account and signed in but when I try to get album art itunes keeps telling me to create an account or sign in! Very frustrating - any help would be greatly appreciated.
chips1, I did read your problem. I understand you don't care about DLing the free single of the week.
Did you read what I posted, +because that method has worked for other folks+ ?
If you refuse my suggestion, beacuse getting artwork is supposed to work without DLing music, I understand.
Feel free to contact Apple using iTunes > Help > Provide iTunes Feedback, and tell them it's not working.
As fullcream posted, I'm just trying to isolate your problem. If you want to get the artwork working quickly, try what I suggested. -
