what does my debit card have to do with my having a redeemed ITunes card
If the total purchase price of the media including any applicable taxes or fees exceeds the balance of the redeemed card, then the difference is charged to your debit or credit card account.

If it's Windows 7 compatible you can use Apple's Bootcamp and create a partition on the drive (if there is room) and install Windows 7 there, then install the tutoring program while option booted into Windows. This is expensive and cumbersome for a simple program.

Another option would be to use virtual machine software like VMFusion (Apple sells), Parallels Desktop or the free (but a tiny bit harder to set up) VirtualBox from Oracle.
Virtual machine programs run multiple operating systems under the parent OS, this case OS X, in a seperate window(s) or uses the full screen.
Both solutions will require a FULL Windows 7 install disk, running about $300 for both 32/64 bit in the same box. Your machine will be tied up while the child is using it.
Another option is to simply buy a another Windows 7 PC, or use another OS X compatible tutoring program.
You can check over at CrossWeavers if the tutoring program can be run on OS X with a emulator you buy from them (less than Windows or a new box), not all Windows programs can, but you might be lucky and it runs fine with no issues.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Get on a computer with iTunes. Click on your email in the iTunes Store, and hit account. Change billing info to None as card type, make sure billing address is correct, and hit done. It will then save, and allow you to make your purchases.

If you made a mistake when you typed in the email address, you should probably change the Apple ID to reflect the correct email address.

AFP - Apple Filing Protocol
The Network Attached Storage (NAS) that you are pointing Time Machine at does not have the features needed by Time Machine in order to do its Thing. Time Machine needs some specific features that are not typically available on generic networked storage devices.
There are manufactures that support the Mac OS X HFS+ file system formats and implement all the needed AFP protocol packets necessary so that they can be used with Time Machine, but apparently yours does not.
If you are not using a networked mounted volume for Time Machine, then more information will be needed about your Time Machine setup.

As mentioned in the subject line: my Mid 2009 MBA freezes frequently. The hardware test provides the error code.
It sounds like a failed RAM but it still works when booted.

That's a RAM issue. If you want, you can still use your Mac until it gets damaged, but that message tells something bad with your RAM, and what it's worse, the RAM in the MacBook Air is soldered onto the logic board, so if you take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get it repaired, the whole logic board will have to be replaced, making this repair so expensive

As I say, I haven't done this in a long time, so not sure if it still works, but it's just the postcode that causes the problem. The Apple system doesn't appear to get upset that the billing address isn't strictly correct, as the card details still work for them to get your cash....... I think any UK postcode will work, it just happens that I used "GU" instead of "GY"......
