If I redeem gift cards, where can I see my account balance? Also, if I purchase apps, games, etc., How does it know to use the gift card vs. my credit card on file?

My account's balance shows at the top left of the store's page on my computer's iTunes, and by logging in to view my account via the Store > View Account menu option. On my iOS devices it shows at the bottom of, for example, the Featured tab in the App Store app under my account id (or you can view your account via Settings > iTunes & App Stores and it should show on the screen that you are taken to).
When purchasing items from the store your account's balance should be automatically used first (you can't gift content from your balance) - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5582 :
When making purchases, content credits are used first, followed by Gift Certificate, iTunes Card, or Allowance Account credits; your credit card or PayPal account is then charged for any remaining balance.

If the card has been redeemed then its remaining amount should be on your account, the card itself is now effectively zero. As long as you are buying content for yourself then purchases should be deducted from your balance - if you are gifting content then that can only be done from a credit card.

Thank you responding. (you're the only response I received). I did, and was doing, as you suggested. Before the latest iTunes update, I was able to see my account balance (a whopping $9.98), but can no longer see the amount. I've tried logging out and back into iTunes to no avail. Same goes on my iPhone and iPod, and iPad. The system keeps asking for credit card info, but I'm hesitant to do that. (That's why we purchase iTunes gift cards, isn't it ?) !
Anyway, Thank you for your assistance. Next stop is the local Apple Store and see what the Genus bar can do. !!

iTunes gift cards can only be used in the store in the country in which they are bought - so if you bought a German iTunes gift card then you will need a German iTunes account. If you haven't got a German iTunes account then do you know anybody with one who could give/sell it to ?

The Oracle version and if Oracle and the OS are 32 or 64 bit versions affect whether or not the /3GB or /PAE flags come into play.
Also if pga_aggregate_target is not in use then the error generally means the userload is too large for available memory which could be because the previously mentioned switches are needed, because the user load is just to large for available resources, or that memory is being wasted by an excessive number of "dead" sessions. Again depending on the versions of the OS, Oracle, and the application space leaks could be an issue.
Bouncing will reclaim space lost to space leaks and clean up dead sessions but it is best to know why the problem exists before bouncing cause once you reboot you lose most of the information that will tell you what the cause of the problem is unless you make it a point to capture debugging information first.
