When i try to restore my ipod i recieve an error message saying that "problem downloading softwar for the ipod owner's ipod. error (-23) Please help i need to restore because my daughter somehow set a passcode lock on it and didnt know it and does not know passcode.

See the steps below for error codes 3000-3999.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

Fifth Generation iPod Windows XPIf you click on your iPod's name in the source area of iTunes, and click on the "Music" tab, what syncing option are you currently set for?
If you're set for "Sync Music" with selected playlists in iTunes, be sure to double-check that the playlist(s) that are being synced to your iPod currenlty contain that song(s) that are having failure to sync to your iPod.
If that isn't the case, go to your iTunes library, and click on the song that isn't syncing to your iPod.
If there's no exclamation point next to it's name when selected, try playing the song and see if it plays; also, right-click on that song, click on "Get Info".
Check and see if the source of the song on your computer is correct or not. (i.e., see if there's even that song title in the "iTunes" folder, or if it is corrupt).

If it is asking for the screen-lock passcode then:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

Same - with latest Itunes version 10, iphone 3gs, ipad 2 and new ipad all on iOS6. Tried rebooting attached, not attached, even reinstalled itunes. same problem - will sync fine but refuses to backup or restore. Windows 7 also. Itunes bug since the last version 10. Also restarted the Apple Mobile device service to no avail.

I made the mistake of resetting my iPod to factory defaults. Now it will only partially sync to my music library. I continually get an error message saying that certain songs are not authorized for my computer, although they are in the iTunes library on the computer and will play. It's these songs that won't transfer to the iPod. I have deauthorized and re-authorized the computer but no joy. Any ideas?

I was thinking that some of the songs in your library may have been purchased under a different apple id. You have already done the first thing I would have done by de authorizing and re authorizing. To verify this, highlight one of the songs that will not sync over and use File>Get Info. In the Summary section there will be an Apple ID entry. If it shows something different than what you are currently using then I recommend signing into the Apple ID it shows and authorizing the computer for that one as well.

I am trying to update my iPod touches and keep getting an error message saying iTunes could not back up my iPod because a session could not be started. It downloaded fine, but when I attempt to install it won't verify, saying that I am not connected to the internet when I know that I am! Tried on several wifi connections while plugged into power source. Any advice is appreciated!
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. I have been given a new ipod nano to replace my much loved but old ipod. When I plug it into my laptop to sync it I get an error message stating "itunes.exe - entry point not found. The procedure entry point AVCFAAssetCreateWithByteStreanAndOptions could not be located in the dynamic link library

The underscore at the beginning of the folder name hides it in the Files panel, although you can turn on the option to display hidden files by accessing the panel options menu.
The folder icons in the Files panel are colour coded: green is for local files, red represents the testing server (or Subversion repository, if defined), and yellow (Windows) or blue (Mac) represents your remote server.
As Randy says, check the Web URL in your testing server definition. It should be http://localhost/check_php/. -
Hi Guys - for a few days I have been having problems downloading and updating apps on my iPad and iPhone. The message cycles between waiting and downloading then eventually says unable to download app. Sometimes after many attempts it wil eventually work. I tested it on an old iPhone 3G and got the same problem so it is not an iOS 5 issue. My WI-FI connection is working fine. I was wondering if this is an App Store problem? Anyone else in the UK having this problem?

I deleted my photo's from Iphoto and when I tried to restore them from a backup on my Time capsual I received an error saying that I did not have sufficient space. The Iphoto file is 46Gb and I have over 100Gb available on my hard drive. Why will it not allow me to restore?
Possibly a damages library. Try this: make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

i cannot upgrade to ios4 on my ipad. upgrade seems to download then when "processing file" i get a message telling me that the network timed out. today error 3259 llagged up. i am assuming this is related to the problem i have. can anyone help. does network mean itunes?
