HT201210 Why does my backup continue to say corrupt

I am trying to update my iphone 4 but it stops because my backup is corrup. I deleted my backup and
I still cannot proceed.  What is wrong here?

What Operating System are you running?
Mountain Lion there seem to be a glitch that continually ask this on quit. 
You have  Apple Menu ()>force quit>iPhoto
