Yes, it will do a full backup.

Only if you want to be able to go back in time to those previous Time Machine backups. When you plug in the new larger external drive, you will only be able to go back as far as the first day you plugged it in and ran the first Time Machine backup on it.

I agree with Kappy.. passing files and especially via wireless is slow as slow.
Just need to be sure your TC is the new AC model??
And the OS on the computer is Lion?
Have you completed the setup of the TC via the utility? You do still need to get internet via the TC so it has to be plugged into the main router..
Give us the full picture of the network.
Then we can help you get into it.. whether you should put your files on it is another question.

That's a nice Pioneer DVD±RW drive - and an upgraded replacement for the original optical drive that shipped with that G5. For a finished look, you'd want to install it in an external enclosure for 5.25" IDE/ATAPI drives that converts it to USB connectivity. Because SATA optical drives have replaced ATAPI drives in recent years, the selection is getting more limited for a new enclosure, although used ones can undoubtedly be found at ebay. Here's an example of one, although it only features USB connectivity. You can also find enclosures that have both FireWire and USB connectivity, which for Mac users is beneficial. Booting the computer (if needed) by a FireWire-connected device is generally more reliable than USB booting. If this isn't important to you, then a USB-only enclosure would be adequate. The enclosure will have directions, but essentially all you need to do is plug in the power cable and data ribbon cable and then secure the drive to the bottom plate of the enclosure with the included machine screws.

Are you downloading files from your Acrobat.com cloud storage? If so, what browser are you using, and are you on Mac OS or Windows? Has something changed on your system since you were able to download/open PDF files successfully? What version of Acrobat or Reader are you using to open these files?

Great question! What type of email account are you using? Most email providers these days offer IMAP accounts (as opposed to POP). With IMAP, your changes should reflect across your devices (for example: if you read an email on your iPhone, it should be marked as read on your iPad). If you are talking about the Lion install USB thumb drive sold by Apple then no it can't. it has some specail formatting that makes it show up as a DVD drive and is securely locked from any changes.
But I must ask why would you want to. That would destroy that drive and wipe out the Lion installer.
USB thumb drive can be bought for $8.

Try each of the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPOd from backup
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPOd.
If still a problem you likely have a hardware problem. An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store would be in order. If the iPod is within warranty you can call AppleCare.

New larger disk drive for Time Machine ..having trouble using it.

I must be missing something simple here. My Time Machine drive was getting pretty full so I went out and bought a larger drive. I assumed I could copy everything on the old drive to the new one ..then start up Time Machine and point it to the new drive and be in business. Not so. When I tried to copy the contents from one disk to the other the process locked up after about an hour. All activity stopped and I had no files on the new drive. To troubleshoot I simply copied a small folder from the smaller Time Machine drive to the new one..and it copied fine. However I noticed the date on the copied file was current so I assume my process is not a good one anyway as all the dates will be lost. Guess that will screw up Time Machine (after all what is time if its all the same ?). So ..how do I use a new larger drive for Time Machine..without loosing all the old stuff that is already saved. If I just select change disk from the Time Machine panel I assume I will only get backups from now ...and nothing older (from the old disk). I do not want to keep the older disk connected. So what am I missing here ??

I want to use my 1TB Seagate Hard drive for time machine and transferring files from Mac to PC.

For about a year I've been using my 1TB external hard drive for only time machine. To be honest, it wasn't until today that I tried to connect my hard drive to a PC and realize it isn't compatible. I read about partitioning the hard drive so that it can work both for time machine and transferring files between pc and mac. I'm not what you would call tech savvy, so I was wondering if I can get some advice on how to do this.

To do it, you have to partition the hard disk, so you will have one partition for Time Machine and another one to store files and use them in a PC and Mac. To create the partition, follow these steps > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html
In order to read and write in the external disk on the PC, you have to select "MS-DOS (FAT)" as "Format". If you choose any other option, the PC won't be able to read your external disk. Apart from that, note that you can't use files bigger than 4 GB with FAT. If you want to use the external disk with files bigger than 4 GB, you have to format your new partition in exFAT, and you have to do it on a PC

New TB external drive for backup

I am changing my 500GB external drive to a 1TB External Drive. The Apple store explained how to move my files to the new drive using Disk Utility. I go through the steps and just as the copying sequence starts I get an error message that the Operation is not Allowed. It's a Western Digital drive, the WG guys said to reformat the new drive with a single partition but that was all they suggested...so I did but it didn't help.
The on-line Apple Expert didn't think I could copy it over and have it pick-up where the last backup stopped.
I am manually copying the files to the new drive to see if that works.
Any other suggestions?

Your profile says you are using a G5, so I assumed...
You also didn't say if you are using a USB or Firewire connection, and if they are connected directly to the Mac instead of a hub.
I've had many problems with the WD drives and firewire, even after updating the firmware from their support site. USB hasn't been a problem, but I hate wasting the firewire port.
I also use SuperDuper, but I have read that CCcloner can do a block copy that works for troublesome clones. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=379017&page=3

I got a new macbook pro a few weeks ago and set it up using my last backup from time machine. I want to use the same external drive for backups but there is no room. Can I delete all of the old files from the old computer or do I need to keep them?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

Without knowing what was going to happen, I clicked on the backup from my iPod and then I lost everything I already had in my phone: mostly contacts and pictures. Although afraid of the answer, is there a solution to retrieving the info, especially the pictures?

by any chance did you do a back up to iCloud? if not there isn't a way to retrieve lost info with out a back up.
