HT201269 error message that says connection to device has timed out
I keep getting a message that says the connection to the device has timed out. Therefore Itunes does not show a device name. I dont know why it keeps doing this. I can't sync the device or anything. Help please?!

Joao Aguiar.Are you running modified software on your phone? This error seems to be common if the firmware has been modified and you're trying to restore the phone again.

Try to reset your device. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. WHen you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and try again.
You can also try a different USB port and different cable.
Is your iTUnes up to date? If not, try to update it. -

The specific circuit board I was talking about is the "Logic Board" which should have the serial number of your computer embeded electronnicaly. Sometimes the technicians who replace this board do not bother to enter the computer's serial number into it after making the repair/replacement. Probably because they don't think that it is important. The only way you can have this done is to bring it back to the shop where it was repaired, and have them do it. On some Macs you can check the electronic serial number by clicking on the Apple logo on the top left hand corner of the screen, then clicking on "about this mac" then clicking on "more info" button on the window which will appear. If you can't see any serial number, then your replacement board was not serialized. -
I can not dowload the new updated software for my Ipod touch 4G. When i do I get an error message that says Network connection has timed out. I have done the trouble shooting steps. Downloaded the latest version of Itunes, and checked network connection
Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

For the past 2-3 months everytime I connect my iPhone or iPod touch to my laptop to update the software through itunes I have issues. I have tried download and install option and the download only option. When the progress bar gets to 100 % downloading and switches to start to install I get an error message that says something like connection issue/timed out/network something. I've been getting timed out for 2 days now, what finally worked for me was not plugging the phone into the computer and just doing the update through my wifi, worked perfectly, took less than 15 minutes

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -

Yes you can drag and drop music to the iPiod if you select Manually Manage Music and Videos in iTunes.
