HT201269 i want to ask where is back up stored in my computer?

i want to ask where is my back up stored in my computer? because i update my ipad for new version and i am trying to restore my old files but it is showing error.

The backup is stored (from here) :
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Return key.
But you probably won't be able to make much if any sense of the backup files.

  • Where contact back up will beon my computer when i make back up through ituens

    Dear Sir;
    I used Ituens to make back up from my contacts, calenders and photoes. can you please inform me where is default location address of the backed up files on my computer?
    Best regards
    Omid

    A device's backup is stored under :
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press Return.
    But you probably won't be able to make any sense of the backup unless you restore it onto an iOS device - they aren't designed to be readable on a computer.
    If you want to copy your photos off the iPad in a readable format then on a PC you can use the Windows camera wizrd, on a Mac you can use Image Capture, iPhoto or Aperture : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

  • I had my iPhone 4S stolen last week and I am going to sync it to my computer to get everything back on it. I have a new computer, i know how to copy music over to the new computer, but where are the contacts stored on the computer?

    Hi there,
    Can anyone help me!? I know how to copy my music library to my new computer but struggling with copying the contacts etc. Where do I find the contacts folder on my old computer?
    Thanks
    K

    I had my iPhone 4S stolen last week and I am going to sync it to my computer to get everything back on it.
    If it is stolen , how are you going to sync it?
    You mean you got a new iPhone and you want to sync it to your computer?
    Plug it in.
    I know how to copy my music library to my new computer
    New computer??? Or new iPhone?
    I know how to copy my music library to my new computer but struggling with copying the contacts etc. Where do I find the contacts folder on my old computer?
    I suggest you simply copy your entire User folder from old computer to new computer. This way all your data (Music, photos, contacts, emails, calendars, documents, etc.)  goes across.

  • Where are the photos stored on the computer?

    When I used the camera software to import my photos, the photos wind up in the Pictures folder. But the photos in iPhoto are nowhere to be found on my hard disk. Where are they except in the program itself?

    By default, the photos are stored in the iPhoto Library in your Pictures Folder.
    With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
    Want to see inside? Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
    Standard Warning: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
    Want to access your files?
    There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
    *For Users of 10.5 and later*
    You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    (Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
    You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    *For users of 10.4 and later* ...
    Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
    To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
    This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
    If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
    If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
    *If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
    For users of 10.6 and later:
    You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
    For Users of 10.4 and later:
    Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • HT1766 where is my backup stored on my computer?

    where can i find my iphone backup on my computer?

    At %AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup on windows xp.

  • When my iphone says it has been backed up to a computer where does everything get stored?

    I am trying to baqck up my iphone on the computer. How do i know? I am basically trying to back up only my photos and videos

    The "Where are iTunes backups stored on your computer" section of http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946 gives the file locations of backups. Note however that you won't actually see your photos and videos (or any of the other backup content) in those files as they are stored in a format that is meant to be used only to restore back to the phone in the event of a problem.
    For photos and videos, in addition to doing a backup it is a good idea to import them to a computer where you can actually see them and know that you have a good second copy. Instructions for doing that are at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083

  • HT1414 I am a tech-tard and am afraid to restore my device.  I do not think my backup is properly stored in my computer.  My device is not talking to my account- battery dies even though it shows battery life...and asks for my phone # before I text or cal

    I have been told by the apple store that I have a software problem but have not been given any assistance on how to resolve the issue.  Even with a full charge the device will power off, most of the time stating that the battery is dead.  However, when I plug it in the device will show adiquate battery to operate.  It will even ask what my phone number is before I can send a text or get any voicemail.
    I tried looking on the help pages but nothing has seemed to make a difference.  All of my children hve moved out so I don't have anyone else to get assistance from.  I am afraid to do a restore because I can't find where my data is stored in my computer.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks, Shelby

    Yes, assuming they are currently on the computer.
    If the iPhone has been used as designed, contacts are either in a supported application on the computer or are synced to a cloud service.
    Pictures would be copied to the comptuer regularly and then those desired to be on the device would be synced back.

    Hi Sohail,
    Find the list below,
      1. DRAW --> Basic Data
      2. DRAD --> Object Link
      3. DRAZ --> Additional Data for Originals
      4. DRAO --> Originals
      5. DRAT --> Short Text
      6. DRAP --> Status Log
      7. DRAOZ --> Additional Files
    Besides this, the original attachments are stored in DMS or KPRO depending upon your customisation.
    Based on how you have configured your system you can find those information by using function modules starting with DMS* or KPRO*.

  • HT1751 Where to look for backup files on computer?

    need my back up information but cannot seem to find it on my computer. Where am i suppose to look for it?

    Hi Ashwin.Shalom,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
    The article below may be able to help you with this.
    iTunes: About iOS backups
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
    Where are iTunes backups stored on your computer
    The folder where your backup data is stored depends on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • I have set up photoshop elements as external editor in iPhoto but I cannot get the edited photo to open in iPhoto. When I save the photo Elements asks where do I want to save it and iPhoto is not an option.

    I have set up Photoshop Elements11 as the External Editor in iPhoto just as Terence Devlin said. However when I save the edited photo it does not appear in iPhoto. A drop down menu asks where I want to save the photo and I do not know what to choose. Also should I choose, "save" or "save as"? I should be really grateful for your help.

    I suggest opening iPhoto and reverting back to iPhoto in the Preferences for photo editing. Quit iPhoto. Restart your Mac for good measure. Open iPhoto and again choose Photoshop Elements in Preferences as the editing app.
    As far as editing, I don't have PE, but I have another editing app form the Mac App Store, ColorStrokes. I have been experimenting with using it for editing iPhoto photos and it works flawlessly. After setting ColorStroke as the editing app, I open a photo in iPhoto and click the Edit button in the menu bar below the photo. Color Stoke immediately opens with the photo and I complete my editing. When I have finished editing I choose to Save the photo, leave the name the same and agree to replace the iPhoto photo of the same name. I quit ColorStroke and the photo in iPhoto now has all of my edits from ColorStroke.
    Should I decide that I prefer the original photo, I open the photo in iPhoto and choose Revert to Original in the Photos pulldown menu.
