HT201303 Why would my apple devices require me to re enter my Apple id

I'm curious, randomly my IPhone or I pad ask me to re enter my Apple id user name and password, what events would trigger the re set?

Did you follow the steps exactly? You need to remove all cables, then connect using micro usb and start iTunes, connect power (3rd gen only).
Make sure to connect directly to your computer and not a keyboard port or USB hub. Try a different cable.

    Hi dip_kinu,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what device you are trying to set up and what is happening when you try to do so. If you are having issues remembering your Apple ID, or feel like you may have set up multiple Apple ID's, you may find the following page helpful:

  • HT5538 I have multiple Apple devices and my family all share one apple ID.  I know it is easy to obtain additional IDs but all devices are registered with the same Apple ID.  My questions is how do I set up my devices so that we can Facetime between devic

I have multiple Apple devices using the same Apple ID for all devices.  I work in the Middle East and my wife is in Russia.  I would like to Facetime between my different devices.  Is this possible with all devices registered with the same Apple ID.  It is just easier for find my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air and for purchasing Apps.  Is this possible and how do I set it up.

Create Apple IDs for everyone individually and use that in Settings > Facetime, Settings > Messages, Settings > Game Center but keep the Apple ID used for app and content purchases in Settings > iTunes and App Stores

  • Do apple devices take priority (in bandwidth) over non-Apple devices?

When I use even 1 of my Apple devices at home, my housemate's PC slows down or even freezes. When I use a PC laptop, it also slows down or freezes, until I turn off all of my Apple devices.  (I have an iMac, iPad, iPhone and iPod.)
My housemate says she heard that Apple devices "hog" the bandwidth, i.e., take priority over non-Apple devices.  I didn't want to believe this, but after doing some experiments with shutting my devices off and on, while using a PC, it kinda looks like she is right.
    My questions:
    1) Is it true that Apple devices take priority over non-Apple devices when it comes to using bandwidth?
    2) Is there anything i can do to change this?  I like my housemate, and I don't want her to leave.  (Also, I appreciate the rental income.)  Also, I like my Apple devices.
    3) Do you know if switching Internet service providers would help?  (We have Comcast.)

    1) Is it true that Apple devices take priority over non-Apple devices when it comes to using bandwidth?
It is often reported.. but this kind of thing has been going on since wireless came along.. partly due to how many different manufacturers we have of wireless gear.. and the fact they all make stuff according to the code IEEE produce (cough, gollum, gollum!!) with their own little gidgets on side.
Apple systems are propriety.. they are designed to work with apple products.. and maybe windows.. as long as they don't use intel wireless cards or realtek or some others.. and the drivers are compatible.. and the moon is full and you hold your tongue on the left side of your cheek.
    2) Is there anything i can do to change this?  I like my housemate, and I don't want her to leave.  (Also, I appreciate the rental income.)  Also, I like my Apple devices.
Yes, it is very simple.. buy a $30 TP-Link wireless N-Lite router and use it as an AP plugged into your apple router.
    3) Do you know if switching Internet service providers would help?  (We have Comcast.)
Has nothing to do with ISP.. but if you already have a wireless router gateway from your ISP use the wireless on that for your housemate.

  • TS1398 The only problem I have is why would my iOS device (iPhone 4s) stop being compatible with my older third-party router after a software upgrade?

I think it's a driver issue not a hardware issue, I can use wifi at work just not at home...
I have an iPhone 4s and it seems to connect to the wifi where I work without any problems.  I cannot connect to my wifi at home even after turning off encryption, after looking around the discussion threads about what other people are experiencing I am convinced that it is a driver issue.  How can my iphone just stop working after an update?
My girlfriend's ipad 3 has the same problem, I sure hope apple can fix this problem or this will be the last iPhone I ever buy.

    Hello Brad,
I've stated that I've rebooted my router , disabled encryption and updated the firmware none of which have fixed the problem.
Also, I've stated that my wifi works with my iPhone 4s when I'm at work, it doesn't work with my wifi at home so I know that it is a driver issue related to older routers.  My girlfriend's ipad 3 stopped working on our home wifi after the update as well.
I can confirm that my wifi issue is with my home network not my work network.  I've tried changing encryption types, disabling encryption all together etc.
You can only restore in DFU mode if you use iTunes to backup your iPhone which I don't since I back everything up to my iCloud.

gdgmacguy has great advice, "Have you rebooted your router?  Have you contacted your router's vendor to see if you're running the most recent firmware? Did you try this?
I have seen WiFi problems regarding iOS 6 all over the Web. These were problems with the WiFi, but how many try WiFi other than their home WiFi. Your home WiFi is a problem. The fix for some users is DFU Mode Restore of iPhone. If you would like to try a DFU Mode Restore.
Here are the steps. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both home and power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release the power button, keep holding the home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually about 20 seconds of holding home button. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes. DFU Mode is sometimes difficult to get. So keep trying the steps until you get it. DFU mode is iTunes saying iPhone in Recovery Mode except screen is black, blank.

  • HT204291 Can anyone explain why every wi-fi device in my house works - apart from apple tv?

    This is my routine:
         1. Enable Home Sharing
         2. Select film
         3. Play film, begin to enjoy
         4. 5 - 10 mins later, film cuts out, Apple TV 2 reports that its lost Home Sharing
         5. Disable Home Sharing in Itunes
         6. Repeat process from step 1 for the duration of the film ( around 15 times in a decent film!!!)
I am seriously thinking of replacing step 6 with 'see how it works as a paper weight or discus or rock' as that is about all that its good for at the moment!

Intermittent issues are usually a result of interference. Check www.istumbler.net to verify

  • Why does my iPhone 4s constantly need me to enter my apple ID?

About 4-6 times a day my IPhone 4s requires me to reenter my apple ID.  This is fairly recent.  I think I did this maybe once since i had the phone but now its every day for weeks.

Nothing in particular.  It happens about half the time I let the phone sit and need to type in my key entry to start using the phone but then it just happens randomly.  I haven't sensed a pattern, in other words.  I'm not trying to change a setting or enter my iMac at home remotely.

  • How can I find the file of my Apple Device shared project?

I'm not sure if this a Final Cut Pro question or an iTunes question...
I shared a project from Final Cut Pro to the Apple Devices (so that I could watch the video on my Apple TV).  I found the video in Home Movies in iTunes, and actually watched it successfully through Apple TV.
But a day or two later, when I look for the video again in Home Movies in iTunes , I get this message: "The video [video title] could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
    Yes I would.
But I don't know where to look in Finder to find it?  Does anyone know where these video files actually go when we share them?  (Is this one of those cases where it's a hidden file, and I need to unhide them to see them?  If so, how do I do that?)

    The step by step process...
When my project is ready to go,
    1. I select File>Share>Apple Devices 1080p
    2. That opens an Apple Devices 1080p pop-up window
    3. I use the default setting (which says it adding to playlist "Library"
    4. after a few minutes I receive a notification of "share successful)
    5. I open itunes, and can watch the newly shared video on my computer screen (my other videos are listed too, but if I try to watch them I get the message "The video [video name] could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?")
    6. I find the video on Apple TV by going to my computer, my library, Home Movies
    7. I watch the video on Apple TV (some of the old videos are listed, others aren't)
    8. Soon thereafter, I return to iTunes on my computer, and now, when I try to watch the newly-shared video, I get the same error message I documented above.
    9. I return to the Apple TV and now I get an error message when I try to watch the video
    This is iTunes 11.1.0.50
    and FCP 10.1.4
Also, I'm editing videos with an external drive as my video source.  I don't know if that has anything to do with anything.
Also, also, per your suggestion, I looked at the Library icon>Show Package Contents>Project Name>Shared Items but couldn't find any of the video files that disappeared.  But I did run a quick test to watch all my steps, and I COULD find the file of that latest video.  So now I  know where to look.  That said, I'm going to leave the latest test video there, and see if it disappears soon too.

  • ICal sync on different Apple devices

After converting all my calendar entries since 1999 from my heavely used Palm to iCal, I have a rather full iCal system. Objective is to use my iCal calender from different Apple devices, including an iPhone 3GS, iPad, 2x Apple notebooks (Pro and Air), iMac, Mac Pro (all Mac's running under Lion 10.7.1).
Although initially OK, I experience continuous sync problems with iCal. Funny enough the different Mac systems react differently. One (the MacNotebook Pro) seems to accept most changes from other systems, the others signal "server access problems" with iCal, although they all work on the same network and only one iCal instance is active on one specific Mac. A simular problem happens on the iPhone, however without warning messages.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem area?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
It's not clear why you need to have different Icloud accounts on each device, however this may not be relevant.
Music, TV shows, movies, books and apps are purchased through the iTunes store, your iTunes account is not the same as your iCloud account. So it may well be that you can maintain different Icloud accounts on your devices and still use the same iTunes account on all of them.
It may be the case, that if you tell us a little bit more about what you are trying to achieve, we may be able to help you further.

  • Are purchased songs exclusively for Apple devices?

This may sound like a simple question.
Are the songs purchased from iTunes only playable for Apple devices? Meaning we can sync all Apple devices we have and get the same songs?
Is there any way to convert the purchased songs to mp3 in order to transfer it to non-Apple device?
iTunes is user-friendly for me, but if the purchased songs aren't playable on non-Apple devices, I might need to find another sources. Any idea?

Yes you can convert tracks to MP3 version in iTunes.
    1. Go into iTunes preferences
    2. On the General Tab, click on Import Settings
    3. Change the Import Using setting to be MP3 Encoder.
    4. Click Ok and then Ok to close preferences.
    5. Now select a track or tracks that you want to convert to MP3.
    6. Then click on the Advanced Menu and select the Create MP3 Version.
This will create an MP3 version of the tracks you selected, it works fro content purchased from the iTunes Store, provided it is in iTunes Plus format (no DRM). Make sure your use of the converted tracks does not breach the Terms of Use you agreed to here :

  • Why are all of our devises running off of the same apple I.d .They all have their own account.

I don't know why three of our devices are running off of the same apple I.d.All three of the devices have there own ids but they are going under the same. Why???

Because that's the way you set them up. It doesn't happen by itself.
Odds are you plugged them all into the same computer logged in with the same account, with the same iTunes library, and restored them all from the same backup.
    Don't do that.

does my Apple ID work for any apple device can i sign in on any apple device

Absolutely. Assuming that you are talking about your own devices. You can sign in on another person's devices, but it's not advisable to do so.

  • HT3819 My new Apple TV works fine but turns off Home sharing at regular intervals. This requires me to re-enter my itunes password and start over again. It is not my computer. I've checked and home share is still on in itunes. Any advice on where I should

I just installed Apple TV. Works fine but turrns itself off at regular intervals of about 30 minutes. This requires me to re-enter my Apple ID and re-start all over again. Wjen I check iTunes on my computer, home sharing is still turned on. THis leads me to think the problem is in how I configured Apple TV on my HDTV. Any advice on where I should look?
    THanks in advance.

I have had no luck. After an hour with phone tech support I have re-installed the current Apple TV software update., re-booted the entire system three times., checked each of my two Airport Express's.,unplugged and re[plugged in every cable,  ad infinitum, ad nauseum and still no luck. I have also decided iTunes 11 *****. Not near as intuitive especially with regard to moving stuff around between my playlists, etc.
Alright guys, is this a problem because of iTunes 11? Is Apple releasing stuff before adequate debugging? Did Steve take his high standards with him?
