HT201328 why wont my tmobile iphone unlock? is it because i had it swapped for a fault at the apple store?

I bought an iphone 4 about 2 years ago from a tmobile store, it was on a pay as you go contract so i paid for the phone outright.
i have now decided to unlock my phone and switch to a different carrier.
I had the phone swapped the day after i bought it as the speakers never worked. i swapped it at t mobile itself no questions asked.
I then had the phone swapped a further two times at the apple store meadowhall due to other faults.
now i have tried to ring t mobile to unlock the phone, which they have charged me for. i waited the amount of time given and called back as nothing had happened, turns out they were using the origional phones details to unlock the phone.
i gave them the details of the new phone which they said they would unlock for me without me having to pay again, i today received a text from tmobile saying 'we regret to inform you that we cannot complete your unlock request to unlock your iphone Reason: Account details miss match. if you have any queries call on 08454125000'
any ideas how to resolve this? as ive been waiting months!

We have no way of knowing why they won't unlock it. I suggest you conact T-Mobile and ask.

    This while everything was working fine.
    Please advise what I can do with this message.
    When I press autorize, it comes up with a unknow appleID. When I use apple ID's that work - it comes with the message that the computer is autorized. but then the autorization message comes back.

    You can't change the Apple ID that the Authorize dialog comes up with by default. It's showing you that Apple ID for a reason: it means that the items you want to play were purchased using that Apple ID and therefore you need to authorize your computer with that Apple ID. Changing the Apple ID given completely defeats the entire purpose.
    If you don't know the password to the given Apple ID, then you will no longer be able to play those items.

    Question -- I have a water damaged iPhone and I am probably going to have to get it replaced at the Apple Store. It's basically bricked and won't turn on, but what happens when I swap it out? Do they try to fix the old one? Or just gut it for parts? I ask because I have private pictures and notes/passwords, etc. on there that I would worry about people having access to if they were able to get the phone working again.
    Once I switch my backed up data and port my number over to the new phone, would anyone still be able to access that stuff on the old one? Or if they did get it working again, would it go back to a restored version?

    I guess the real question is if the phone is recoverable, would my data still be on there? I'm worried about my pictures/notes being recovered? Or does that all port over to my new phone?

    The iPhone bought unlocked from the Apple store in the US will work in Brazil on GSM. Nevertheless the LTE frequencies might be different.
    Be aware that:
    You will NOT be able to order from the US Apple online store. You will have to go to a physical Apple store in the US.
    The warranty is only valid in the US and you will not be able to get warranty service in Brazil.
    With all of that, why not buy the iPhone in Brazil?

    Are you planning on flying to and visiting the US?  That is the only way you are going to get an iPhone from the Apple store because you will not be able to purchase one from the Apple store online and get it sent to Pakistan - it can't be done and Apple online stores will not ship internationally.
    You have not got a straight answer to this question because there is none.  The phone has T-Mobile on the top button, because it is a T-Mobile phone and although sold as contract free, but NOT unlocked - notice the difference, it still comes with a T-Mobile sim card.
    The phone may or may not work in Paskistan and if you do buy the phone, to ensure that it has the best possible chance of working is to take the T-Mobile sim card out of the phone first and DO NOT activate the phone using the T-Mobile sim.  If you want to use it in Pakistan, then activate it with your local Pakistan sim card and you will not be paying any charges to T-Mobile if you do this.  If you do happen to accidentally activate the phone with the T-Mobile sim card in it, then you will have a contract with them and yes, you will have a monthly bill with T-Mobile and you will need to keep this contract for 40 days, until you can get the phone unlocked by them.
    Also note, that if you buy the phone it may not work on 4G networks in Pakistan due to frequency differences and also you will have no warranty cover for the phone in Pakistan - iPhone warranty is NOT international, so country of original purchase, so the US, which means you have to fly back there - no postage accepted.
    So basically, the phone should work in Pakistan, but not on the 4G networks and you need to take the T-Mobile sim card out before you activate it and activate it using a local sim card and you will have NO warranty cover for the phone in Pakistan.
