Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.

If you can/do upgrade, I recommend you make a copy of the installer and move it out of your Applications folder. The installer self-destructs. The copy will keep you from having to download the installer again. You can make a bootable DVD/USB stick to install using this free program.

Our 2 computers haven't experienced any significant problems, even though others have. I find it much better than 10.7 Lion, which I used for a week before reverting to 10.6.8
Mavericks is supposed to be released this fall, so you may want to wait. -
I upgraded to Mountain Lion on Macbook Pro today which I bought new three weeks ago, on the upgrade my Ethernet connection is no working, Any ideas on a fix on this issue.

If you bought the MBP new 3 weeks ago, it should have come with Mountain Lion already installed. Did you update your MBP to the newly released 10.8.4 update? If not, what OS were you running before the upgrade, and what version of Mountain Lion do you have now? -
Logic Pro and Upgrade to Mountain Lion/New MacBook Pro
At some point in the near future, I plan on buying one of the new MacBook Pros (non-retina display). I currently have the mid-2009 model, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 15-inch, 4 GB of RAM. Not this is terrible, but I would like to take advantage of the increased processing power with newer MacBook Pros because I constantly use Logic Pro for many different projects.
My question is, how do I make a smooth transition from one piece of hardware to the next? For many of the audio files and such that make up all of the different instruments in Logic Pro, I'm not even completely sure where they are all installed. Some files are in one directory, some are in others. Not to mention plug-ins and things of that nature. I just updated my pages and now it won't load. This is on my iPad. The first version which has the latest version it can have 5.1 or something like that. I am trying to open a document and am worried that if I uninstall and reinstall I will lose all my documents
I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things. I was merely trying to take a document I had worked on and open it in pages, but it said my version was too old. When I updated, it wouldn't load. Now I cannot do anything. I hope that the reinstall fixes it without losing everything. Please advise!!! Yes, I am in panic mode.

I'm not able to install windows 7 in my imac 21' which has the latest OSX 10.9
It keeps saying that I need a 64bit version of win7 which I actually have but it doesn't seems to be recognize.

Thank youTo my knowledge there are no official MS Windows DVDs that contain both the 32 and 64 bit versions. There is a way to make a USB thumb drive that has both bit version on it but AFAIK this can't be done on a DVD disc even with a Dual Layer DVD disc.
For the Windows installer to function, actually boot the system to the install routine, certain files have to be on a certain area of the DVD disc. If by chance you really do have a DVD disc that contains both bit versions your Mac is only seeing the 32bit version on that disc.
You'll need to get a Real MS DVD of just the 64bit version or download the 64bit version ISO from My Digital Life and burn it to a DVD disc.

The startup disk may need repairing ...
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the disk and restore OS X using OS X Recovery -
Having difficulty connecting my Ipad to FaceTime and messages. I've updated the latest software and have WI-FI/3G coverage but it keeps saying: "could not sign in, please check your network connection." Can anyone help?
Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

My iPad Air has the latest software version(iOS 7.1.2) update, since that update the location services have stopped working. have a solution?
I have had the same problem, so many apps do not work properly without it! Apple says the internet satellite, the Internet satellite says Apple, back and forth with the blame instead of fixing the problem. Have turned location on and off, reset everything multiple times ( lots of hours and bandwidth to download ), Siri is now working part time, I guess she has cut back her hours for the summer. Even in these forums was suggested to check with Skyhook who does the global positioning, and after hours with them, they ended up saying that they have nothing to do with it anymore, Apple does. All to no avail and much frustration! I wonder if this is happening with the iPhone's? i'd like to know if this is happening with others that do not use satellite as their ISP? That would help narrow down the argument with Apple vs. satellite. Fell for you! Someone please help us! Ta

i used reliance dongle to browse internet on mountain lion, at first it gave me problems but after updating the reliance software it worked fine. Now i have upgraded my osx to mavericks. The reliance software gets installed but dosent open giving some error, Now i cannot use the internet !!! and itz the latest version of reliance software,,, plz help me !!!
At last i did some experiments and it solved my problem... heres the solution :
1. Install the reliance drivers and software from their website.
2. As the reliance software is not supported my mavericks it wont open, but dont worry.
3. Now after installation go to system preferences->network->and select "ZTE Wireless Terminal".
4. Configuration: Default
Telephone number: #777
Account name and password should be the owners number.
5.Finish ! press apply and click Connect...

I just purchased a used 3rd generation Ipod Touch and the latest software is iOS 4.2.1 and I have been trying to download apps (Facebook, Words w/Friends, etc.), but they all say I need to have iOS 5. Help!

Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
I personally havent looked for any clones of Words With Friends, but I bet you can find something.

I get an "install failed" message. "Recovery system can't be created—click restart to return to previous version of OS X." This doesn't work. My Mac continues to try to install Mountain Lion. What is the elegant way to get my system back?
The first time I attempted to install ML was on a late 2011 MBP. It ran for three minutes then gave me the error message: Could not install OSX due to an unexpected error. I was using the original ML install app, not a USB or other drive.
After a couple of restarts wiht the same result I saw a message to the effect that the install was trying to close open apps. I closed apps manually a few times to no avail. I shut down instead of restarting then booted into Safe mode (hold down the shift key when starting) and that did it. The install went smoothly after that.
I since installed ML in two iMacs using a cloned copy of the install app on a USB drive. This time I shut down the computers and booted into Safe Mode first and there were no problems.
I don't know if this issue is the one causing you these problems but it is a simple enough solution to try.

How do I send my photos on my iPhone 3, which has the latest upgrade, to iCloud? I cannot find an option.
You can only view your photo stream photos from a device or computer that is signed into your account with photo stream enabled, not from icloud.com. If you backed up your phone, the camera roll photos on your phone would be included in the backup, but cannot be seen unless you restore the backup to your phone.
However, you shouldn't try to use iCloud to back up your photos. Photo stream photos only remain in iCoud for 30 days. And if you back up yoru phone to iCloud, then delete your photos, you next backup will overwrite the backup that contains the photos you deleted and they would be lost.
To back up your photos, import them to your computer using your usb cable as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. -
I have Snow Leopard, But I cant upgrade to Mountain Lion, can I upgrade to Lion?
I have an old MacBook, from 2006 and currently have Snow Leopard installed (after purchasing it in 2010), I want to upgrade to Mountain Lion mainly because I want the Xcode 4 which looks 100% better than the current Xcode I have. However, when I try to buy the OS X Mountain Lion it tells me I do not have the correct processor. After a little research I saw an article that said some OS X Lion users could not upgrade to Mountain Lion because Mac is no longer supporting its older models like MacBooks before 2008 or something like that.
So this lead me to the idea maybe I don't have to upgrade to Mountain Lion, maybe I could upgrade to Lion and still be able to get Xcode 4. So, I tried to find a way to upgrade to OS X Lion, but I could only find the upgrade to Mountain Lion. Which is frustrating because I don't want to buy a brand new MacBook just to get Xcode 4, its nice, but not that nice. But Apple should allow me to at least upgrade to Lion, because they decided to no-longer support this older hardware I am still using.Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu; Lion requires a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU and at least 2GB of RAM. You don't need to buy a brand new Mac in any case.

After first installing the new Mountain Lion upgrading Lion on my Macbook Pro was a little slow, so I decided to format and install Mountain Lion via a thumb drive. After installation on my Macbook Pro was restarting all the time and showing a black screen with codes on the screen. I decided to reformat and reset the PRAM, and that seems to have worked. Occasionally a black screen appears with the codes and my macbook restarts again. Last night I updated the Mountain Lion and error and looping retornartam. I thought I had lost all my works, do more entered in the login screen. I turned off my macbook, went to sleep and this morning I called and finally worked Do not know what's going on in my friends' macbook not occur this problem. The macbook them is the 2011 13 "i5 2.0Ghz and another 2010 and they both work perfectly with the Mountain Lion.
