OS 10.6 is Snow Leopard, which does not support Air Play. If you upgrade to OS 10.7 Mountain Lion (which is what you list in your category) then you may be able to use Air Play depending on the age of your computer.

Are you talking about the green '+' button in the top left corner? That technically doesn't enlarge it. It switches the window from the default window size to the custom size you made. You can enlarge the window by moving your mouse to the bottom right corner of the window, and dragging until you get the size you want.

Once something similar happened to me. The external drives I had set up for FCP to use for some reason were not mounted, and FCP put all its render files on the main drive and I couldn't find them anywhere.
Go to applications, and control-click (and hold down) on your FCP icon; you should get a pop up menu that says "show package contents". Select that, select the "contents" folder, then the "mac OS" folder. See if your quicktime file is in there, or if you've got render files in the "render" folder or audio render files in the "audio render" folder that don't belong there.
That's where FCP sticks stuff when your documents FCP project folders are not available or when external drives you've selected aren't available. -
I got mac keeper to clean up some files, and now I cant open Final cut pro 6. because of missing files. it is loading, at Atom strand.HD file, before it says that the program suddenly shutted down. the atom strand.HD is a file, that is connected to motion. if I put motion in the garbage can, then final cut works, but if I take motion out of the garbage can again, then it doesn`t. arrrrr. shall I re install final cut or motion. or is there a better way to make it work, again????? !!!!
Well, best bet would be to reinstall FCP. I'd use the FCS REMOVER from digitalrebellion.com (free) to uninstall the app first, then reinstall from the DVD.

Firefox on Mac has been unusable for many months. After I open just a few windows it bogs down. Resets buy me maybe a few hours. How can we get the developers to STOP ADDING FEATURES!!!! STOP REDESIGN. JUST MAKE IT WORK RIGHT! As things stand I have to use Chrome and Safari. The best has become the worst.
Reset buys ne a few hours. This s jst a crippled product. Feature-itus has destroyed it.

PIX logging to syslog on Mac OS X leopard Client - how to make it work?
We just cant seem to make the log entires show up in the syslog or router.log!!!
We have enabled remote logging on the PIX firewall.
On Leopard, we have enabled Stealth Mode. So we get the following message:
+Stealth Mode connection attempt to UDP 192.168.1.22:514 from 192.168.1.11:514+
Which means the Mac (w/leopard 10.5.1) is getting the logging messages. This was separately confirmed with tcpdump too. We think it is either:
a) syslogd config. issue (where UDP/514 messages are not accepted)
b) Or it is a leopard firewall issue. We have set the Firewall to All all incoming connections. But that didnt help.
So we think it is a syslogd issue. So we modified the /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.syslogd.plist.
Tried the following:
1. -n -a srchost_ip/32 - +to limit entires from one specific host+
2. -udp_in 1 - +saw this in specific version of the syslogd man page+
Also added entries via ipfw.
00100 allow udp from 192.168.1.22 to any dst-port 514
33300 deny icmp from any to me in icmptypes 8
65535 allow ip from any to any
We also modified the syslog.conf. And tested entries using logger. That worked.
But we simply haven't been able to log messages from another box/device (cisco pix firewall in this case).
What are we doing wrong? Can anyone help?

Message was edited by: sp2007I just noticed some of my messages from a remote device are showing up in ipfw.log - not as stealth notifications or any other type of error message, mind you, but the actual full syslog message just as I would expect. No matter what I do to /etc/syslog.conf, remote message show up there.

Mac OSX with two apache servers: standard and MAMP - How to make MAMP default server
MAMP apache is installed on localhost:8888. How do I make that the default web server for that Mac OSX? I found that when I open a web page in he OSX Safari browser, it uses the standard apache httpd found in /etc/apache2. I'd like to make the apache server in /Applications/MAMP/bin/apache2. Where do I specify that setting?
Shut down Web Sharing (assuming OS X client and not OS X Server here), and configure MAMP to use port 80 using the Apache configuration file.
System Preferences > Sharing > Web Sharing (off)
Here is the MAMP documentation that describes how to set the port number with MAMP. Select port 80.
There's a MAMP startup sequence that avoids a password-prompting case that can arise here. (I have not tested that sequence nor that tool.) -
I have changed my notes to sort by title on my mac but after 24 hours my iphone and ipad have not reset to match my mac. I have tried all the trouble shooting. Now what?
As far as I know, iCloud doesn't sync the sort order.

We are using preview on iPad through USB connection on daily basis, but now we need to preview on Android as well.
I've tried setup on following page, but it's not working for me - i have USB Debuging enabled (it's nicely hidden on Jelly Bean 4.2.2 on our Nexus 7), but i can't see device in Folio Builder panel in preview menu (yes, i have Adobe Content viewer as front app)

USB Debugging is enabled... but the device NEVER appears in the dropdown...
We are using the native viewer app, exactly as you have described, and we still cannot get the preview on device to work?? IS there some other process we can use because the instructions in the link you just provided are not working at all.

How do I restore pdf files that were not included in the syncing of my ipad. Everything else was and some pdf files were. Apparently I find them in Library but I can't find Library. It doesn't appear that you can do it through time machine either.

How to make Excel VBA (on Windows OS) to work on Mac
Hi,
I have made an application which uses Excel forms and other features of Excel Form 9like Title, Combo Box, List Box, Buttons etc).
The code works well on Windows OS however when I run it on Mac it fails to work. Can anyone help me how to make this work.

This is possible, MAC and Windows are 2 different platforms and the features of Office System on this 2 platform is also inconsistent (the Office for Windows has more rich features).

My Mac book pro all of a sudden doesn't have the airplay icon and doesn't work with my Apple TV . Why ?
The Airplay icon will not display if the OS is unable to locate any Airplay devices.
I would check that both devices are connected to the same network and maybe even power cycle the network devices - eg router etc
Maybe even try to connect both devices to another network like an iPhone personal Hotspot and see if that helps to isolate the problem -
My Mac is bypassing a website filter... How can I stop it?
I am a computer technician at our local high school. Right now, the school has about 800 Dell computers, but we are planning on introducing a few Macintosh labs within the next school year.
Since they lack educational value, the school district's director of technology (my boss) has a web filter (Deep Nine) that blocks myspace, facebook, youtube, proxy sites, and other similar sites.
Myspace is blocked via a keyword filter, any page containing the word "myspace" in the url, or in the document a set number of times, is automatically blocked. The other sites are simply blocked by URL. This filter works perfectly on our Dells, no one can access Myspace, Facebook, Proxies, etc.
I brought my Macbook to work today, plugged it into the network, and logged onto the internet. I noticed instantly that my homepage (Facebook) loaded without being blocked at all. Curious, I tested myspace and youtube, and I could get on youtube fine, but myspace remained blocked.
I checked on the Dell next to me, and all those sites will still being filtered and blocked. Yet my Macbook was able to access them without issue. So it would appear that my Macbook has some mystic ability to bypass the web address filter, but it can not bypass the keyword filter.
I do not have any proxies configured. My Macbook connects to the network (and thus, the internet) the same exact way the other computers within the school do, with the exception of the other computers being within Active Directory.
I need to find out if it is an issue with the Mac or with our Filter. I don't have any other Macs available to test with (Our only other Mac in the school is our DHCP server, and we do not use servers as "lab rat" computers).
Has anyone had any similar issues with this? Or does anyone know of any way I can diagnose this with only one Mac and only one Filter?
Specs: OS 10.5.5, Safari 3.1.2, wired networking.

Message was edited by: Joey HoganThe DeepNines product works well and does much more than a simple URL filter. The problem lies entirely in your district setup and not in their product. If you're not using a proxy filter, then you have all access and routes designed to head out on typical port 80 traffic to your isp and ultimately the internet hence no proxy configs. The filter is integrated with LDAP accounts at each of your locations to tell it which users and groups are to get filtered at what level. That tie in is what breaks down who goes where. If you introduce new macs onto the network and they have not been configured to work with the DN appliance and are going out unfiltered... then there are 2 problems here. #1 is that you have computers attaching to the network, receiving leases and doing what they want. Use DHCP reservations or a whitelist to control who gets on your network. #2 is that your DeepNines filter has not been set to failover to BLOCK. Instead, it's allowing unknown users to bypass freely simply because it doesn't recognize their group/account. And Orange, stop slamming the company. They are a smaller business that has taken a much better approach to filtering than any other large corporation. Standard database driven URL filters DO NOT WORK....PERIOD! I challenge you to call any district that is running their appliance to get their opinion of it in comparison to any of the other basic url filters out there. I did just that last week and they had absolutely nothing but high praises for the DN product. One even laughed at Websense which they had before switching simply for the lack of ability to block anonymouse proxies.

Speacker near the ear doesn't work
