Sound like a pfishing email rather than your account being hacked.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4933.

  • Iphone email hacking

I am using an iPhone 5s, 16 GB, running IOS 8.2.    In the last 2 weeks (and since I upgraded to IOS 8.2) my gmail account has been hacked twice.  After the first time I logged on to gmail using my PC and deleted all of my on-line contacts.   After that I was hacked again with mail sent to contacts that were NOT available through gmail (only on my iPhone).  My friend purchased an iPhone 6, 32GB, IOS 8.2 last week and she had an email hack from her gmail account today.  Never was hacked before she had the iPhone.   Something strange is going on here and I can't help but suspect the iPhone.  The mail headers include the following information:   USER AGENT:  iPhone Mail (11D257); Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary=Apple-Mail-1946E62E-894C-640A-DA51-C53067D29742.   I'm feeling very uncomfortable about using mail on my iPhone at this point.

Also change your security questions too.  If he knows those he can still get your passwords after they are reset. Also if you have other email accounts associated with the accounts, ie a password reset email different from the account you are trying to reset, you need to change those too. He may have his email set up there to receive the password reset messages. One other thing you can do is dump all of them and start over with new email accounts.

  • Question related to email hacking

Almost two weeks ago I posted a question/concern related to my Verizon email account being hacked. It appears that since I changed my password, the hacker has not been able to access my account.
However my residual question was never answered:
Does Verizon have access to the IP addresses of any computers which may log into an account? In other words, it was another Verizon user (who also sometimes uses a Hughes Satellite connection as well as an iPhone to surf the internet) who did the hacking of my account.
Would that user's IP address be available to law enforcement in this case, or could it be accessible if a subpoena was issued to Verizon to release that information?
Doing so I suspect would make this an easier case to prove.
    Thank you.

In short... yes that info is available under certain circumstances.  It is provided/released to law enforcement and prosecutors only by directive of a court order and/or subpoena. That is a blanket statement and not indicative of the entire process. Please see your lawyer and/or the parties that you filed the complaint with for more specific details as it would pertain to your complaint.

  • Email hacked, password reset and security details ...

Hi All, just need some advice really.
My primary email was hacked last week, and my password changed. I have taken all measures to try and regain control but have been unsuccesful. I have spoken to four different people today on the phone. First of all i was moved to a different department twice, thn I was told I had to speak with the security department as the security questions had the wrong answers! When I eventually got through, and after 30 minutes of being on the phone, I was told that I cannot be helped. I explained 5 times what the issue was and that I had been referred to this department becuas eof security question isssues, but that was not registered!!!
i was then told to use the forgotten password option! As I had already said three times, I had tried this, but the answers had been changed! Thats why I was on the phone to sort this out. I was then told that my answers had been reste and to wait a little while. Five hours later I have come back to try and sort this out and I STIILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE! I don't know what to do now, as the first time round took over an hour to try and get somewhere!!!!
Can someone please refer me to someone who is actually going to LISTEN and help, rather than telling me that 'I can't help you madam'

i am sorry to see that someone else is having this sort of problem
the security and customer help in India cannot be trusted,
they actually allowed somebody to have access to my e-mail and account details
then despite my objections allowed someone to stop my phone calls and
send them to a mycander mobile phone (ending238)
then all sorts of pain followed.
THE ONLY SOLUTIONS IS TO WRITE TO THE DIRECTORS OF BT AND SEEK HELP FROM THE CHAIRMANS
SUPPORT TEAM. TRY SUE HALPIN. I THREATENED LEGAL ACTION AND WOULD/MAY CARRY OUT THAT THREAT.
even she was confused and disturbed by the trouble she had getting things put right, is it to simple,
get a new primary e-mail and anew logon to bt.com (your account)
change your passwords and security questions, do not use the same for both
all that fus about including a number or a capital is rubbish but you are t a degree stuck wth a number
use something like 25sausagecaravanaxe. at least 14 letters no linking of the words like carrotsaladwatercress1
    just pure rubbish
if you want the names and personal postboxes of the directors at newgate st london let me know
i have had 2 months of pure pain and distress, keep in mind when speeking to some call centres
you cannot educate pork, never give them admin rights and remote access.
or beleive the latest from India   its all caused by Iphones and Ipads

  • Email Hacked and Comcast wants me to download Norton Anti Virus to run scan

My email was hacked and I contacted the ISP (Comcast) they said to download Norton Antivirus and run it on my iMAC then go in an change my email password.  I use Microsoft Outlook for my email or I read it on my iPhone 5.  Should I use Norton?  I read something that said it doesn't get along with the new OS for my iMac (just downloaded it around 2 months ago).
Getting ready to start changing all my passwords for stuff but want to know if I should run the Norton Antivirus.
    Help please.

Obvioulsy someone at ComCast did not hear you say you owned a Mac. They can be very Windows-centric. It is unlikley that a virus caused a hacked e-mail. A lot of that happens at the server level (Comcast in your case) and has nothing to do with your computer.
Norton has casued many more problems for Mac owners than it has fixed. Run away.

  • Yahoo Email HACKED via having logged in from my Blackberry

My Yahoo Email account becomes hacked and password compromised anytime that I use my Blackberry to log into my Yahoo Email by going to the Blackberry web browser, then my.yahoo.com, and then logging in.
After the hacking I will use a computer to go to Yahoo Email and change the password.  The hacking will then stop.  Then if I use my Blackberry to login to Yahoo Email via the Blackberry web browser then the account becomes hacked again within minutes.   I have isolated the hacking to the Blackberry as I only use my personal computer and the Blackberry to login.  I will go weeks without a hacking incident but once I use my Blackberry to login to Yahoo Email the account shows logins from Canada within 5-30 minutes and then within 12 hours the spam emails start getting sent from my account.
I can view the locations of logins to my Yahoo Email and they are typically from Canada when the hacking occurs.  After this hacker has gained access to my account then they start sending spam from my email to all of my contacts for a link to buy some sort of berry supplement.
How is this hacking happening through my Blackberry?  Is there a virus on the device?

Yours would be THE first with a virus... so let's knock that out.
What's happing is there is a plethora of spammers and "bot" spammers out there which do nothing but find active Yahoo email accounts and "fake" the email "sent" from ID from those "bot" spam machines. They don't know your password. It just sees an active email account, and makes it appear your account is sending those emails.
They don't have to have your account password. No hacking. Just simple tom-foolery.

  • Email Hacked or Sold

The email account I used for Logmein was specific for Logmein, never given to another soul, it was not even registered at my ISP, I pulled Logmein emails out of the junkpile at my ISP.  Yet in the last month I have received six bogus email using my Logmein email address.  The bad guys are pretending to be the IRS, eFax, USPS or Barclays .  How did the bad guys get an email that was never given to any company except Logmein and never registered with the ISP?   The answer appears that Logmein is either selling our information or they were hacked and our information was stolen.

Here is the backand forth so far... they are still not admitting that there was an internal breach of some sort. Hello, I apologize for the delay in getting a response as I was waiting on the development team. Here are the responses I received: How did someone get my email address that is only used for logmein, is an inbound only email address, and is not available on the web, and did not go to any of my other 20 email addresses(some of which ARE posted and available online)? A search of my email systems showed that NONE of my 156 email users received this email either. (this is the same scenario that many other logmein users are experiencing) Although the username part of his email address was easily guessable, the domain part was not. Therefore our presumption is it was captured with the key-logger malware.You are saying that the email containing the key logging malware sent to my logmein email address made to look like it came from logmein at the time of my renewal, captured my email address used for logmein account allowing the hacker to send the aforementioned email…that is a circular statement.  How did this same person/group know my subscription renewal was due? How is it that this same person/group knew to access my computers on the day/time my subscription was not only renewing, but was changing? Thus allowing them to go seemingly unnoticed via log files since my host software was being changed at the same time. We cannot see or find any correlation between the hosts’ intrusion and the subscription change. The subscription replacement does not cover the login entries in the host logs neither the LogMeIn free version gives any advantages to a potential attacker.   You don’t see a correlation??? So it is purely coincidence that the hacker accessed my computers on the same day my subscription changed??? The logs state that the host software changed due to the subscription change. I didn’t think that the hacker installed host software with less features for their benefit. The correlation is that the hacker accessed my systems within seconds to minutes before the host software was downgraded. Had the hacker waited just 1 or two hours more, I don’t believe they would have been able to use one-to-many or a script access and to drop malware on my computers.Besides the actual time within the day of the renewal process is not predictable. EXACTLY MY POINTFurthermore, a clever attacker could have just wiped the host logs instead I never said they were clever. Evidenced by the fact that I found out about it.  How is it that there was no account audit email sent to me when they got the password wrong more than once when accessing my computers. This fits into the theory of having a keylogger malware: by capturing his account password there was no need to try  Wouldn’t logmein themselves keep a log of website account access in case of a hacker trying to hack the website itself? How is it that there is no log or audit trail of them accessing my account via the website? The successful login audit is an optional setting in Central; and is OFF by default. It is not turned on for this user. Which in your case, was turned off for your account so that is the reason there was no logs recorded. But it does show account activity by me on the logmein website when I accessed it and made changes. Is there no logging for one-to-many actions? The hacker obviously used a script of some sort. How were those direct links or desktop shortcuts created without someone logging into my account via the website? This was just a theory that was drawn from the logs not a definite as to how they accessed your computer. Do you have any other theories? I really want to know how this was possible. Recommendations from the Development/Security team: What we can suggest to the customer is to do an offline virus scan on his own computer and change the passwords for the remote machines and change the password for his LogMeIn account and enable two-factor authentication and audit logging. Two out of three has already been done. Working on third now. Also evaluating other remote support alternatives. More Information: Our Central DataBase was checked for the following information: - Logging of successful login attempts is DISABLED as this user (in your account) It is enabled now and I actually saw where they attempted to logon to my account and failed on 5/14/2015 at 10:04 am EST.  - No Record exists in database regarding any desktop shortcuts to the specified computers - Session details from 14/Apr _attached_ to this mail (there are consecutive login sessions from the 216.246.98.17 address from 4/14/2015  7:57:54 AM to 11:33:32 AM; Average session duration is 9,5 minutes). Yes, I sent this to logmein support on 5/15/2015 at 10:37am EST. This also gives evidence that one-to-many or another scripting tool was used.

  • Email hacked / all new emails go to "Trash"

HELP!  My BT email account was hacked the other day and the spurious "I'm been mugged in Manila......." email was sent to all of my address book contacts.
Following BT Helpline advice I reset my password.
    1. I now appear to have lost my whole address book. Is there any way of getting this back or have the hackers totally delated it?
    2. All new emails are going straight into the "Trash" box, even test emails sent to myself.

Reset password and security question, but a few days later same thing happened again. How is this possible, and is there a way to check
that this hacker did not put some type of spyware or malware on my Apple.
Please offer any help you can

The hacking of your email took place at the server end - someone got your password or got into AOL's notoriously insecure system.
Most likely none of this happened on or anywhere near your computer.

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
Sorry to hear of the problems.
Make sure that you alter the password AND security answers again. Also, via webmail, check Mail/Mail options/pop & forwarding to see if anything is set.
Unfortunately, phishing emails are nothing to do with BT (or any ISP for that matter). Reporting them will hardly ever get a response, and frankly I would expect that nothing would be done - because the phish email will come from a botnet, and the link hosted on a hacked website. There are so many of these, that the abuse teams could not possibly deal with them all.
How are you accessing your emails ? Is it via multiple devices or just one ? If the former, then this could be the reason the emails are "read".
You also need to make sure that your computer is completely trojan free of course - again unfortunately that is the end user problem rather than the ISP.

  • Yahoo email hacked

My Yahoo email account started sending out email for **** websites to all my address book on Sunday.  Suggestions on best way to find the bug and get rid of it?
    Thks, Ian

If somebody hacked your email account and got your contacts, it's very unfortunate. Changing your password would be good, but probably too late since they already did the damage. You do need to take that up with Yahoo - I'd suggest sending them an email (their security department would be a good choice).
