What worries me is that Lost Mode (stolen) doesnt take effect until it connects to the internet.

iOS devices cannnot be tracked or located with just the serial number. Unless you shared your Apple ID and password with anyone, then your account cannot be accessed at the iTunes Store.

Any way, go to the police and make a report, change your password in iTunes Store, really sorry, that's not much you could do. Is it authorize? JIf you did not activate Find my iPhone then you've truly lost it. Unless, of course, you or someone else finds it? There is no way using the serial number and before you ask the IMEI number.

I try to open up a texting app, and now, it won't lock, exit out (or crash suprisingly), multitask, or even power off. I also had auto lock set to two minutes and it has been about a full hour and it has never locked. If there is someone out there who has the same problem as me, and knows how to fix it, PLEASE TELL ME!!! I have a lot of texts that need to be answered... I'm afraid the IMEI number won't do you any good: its principal value is in enabling your service provider to block the phone.
In order for your iPhone to be locatable you must have enabled the 'Find My Phone' app on it prior to losing it, and it must be on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network. Unless all these conditions are true there is no way of locating it. -

The SN will only help identify the iPod as yours if it is recovered.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing

Normally what you should do is go back the retailer from whom you purchased the card and discuss the problem with them. They should either correctly activate the card or give you a new one. Since you have no receipt, though, it's unlikely that Target will help you, so go here:

No one here can do anything about it. If you can't locate it with Find my iPhone, then it's gone. Probably for good.
Report it to your carrier and the police. If you did not have it locked with a passcode, change all of your passwords. -

A month ago my iPhone was stolen, I turned on Activation Lock but it never came out BUT an hour ago somehow my apple ID was changed and someone removed from the account both my iPhone and iPad and the iPad was also remotely wiped. As soon as I saw it I recover the password and return the access to my iPad. But iPhone is not registered for my apple ID any longer. Can Apple help me somehow? I have all the documents and the iPhone box. Will they lock the iPhone and return me access to it. I'm sure it's been attached to another apple ID.

I was relocating from USA to India using Air India airways. On reaching Delhi, I did not receive my luggage. After 5 days of my arrival, I received my luggage with broken lock and my 2 iphone 4S and one Macbook pro air was missing. All these products were brand new and unopened from box. I filed complained about my missing electronics items but came up with empty handed. All these electronic products are registered in Apple in my name. After 2 months, I came to know by calling Apple representative that one of the iphone4S is active and is using Turkey carrier. I have the IMEI number and the serial number of this active iphone but due to Jurisdiction area limitation, I cannot do anything. Please let me know what I can do at best to alteast find out the complete gang involved in this shameful international electronic stolen item trafficking business. I still wonder how my iphone 4S reached Turkey although my itinerary was from Baltimore to NewYork to Paris to Delhi.
The advisor should not have told you this for legal reasons. There is no way of tracking the iPhones just of finding out which SIM cards were used to activate them and if they were activated at all. Court can authorize Apple to release this information to the count. There is no legal way without involving a judge.
