HT201401 Incoming calls do not ring on iPhone, only vibrate. All settings are selected for ringtone to be audible, I have restarted phone, went back to factory settings, still no sound on incoming calls.
Incoming calls are not heard, only vibrate. I have reset the phone back to factory settings and still do not get any ring tone sounds for any incoming calls. The phone only vibrates. I have checked all setting including volume and do not get any sounds from the phone on incoming calls.
Check the Mute / Silent Switch on the side of the phone...

I have been attempting to wipe/erase the iphone 4S I recently purchased...for the past 20 hours....I went to Reset in Settings and clicked on "Erase All Content and Settings"....At that point the phone the screen went dark except for a white circular symbol revolving - indicating something should be happening....
The instructions indicated that, depending on what needed to be erased, the process could take several hours. Even though the device had a Tom Tom application with all the maps of Europe etc (about 2GB) and there were several other apps on the device, it does not seem to me normal that the device would be still clearing into the next day - today!

Richard W.Something has gone wrong. Turn your phone off, then force it into recovery mode & restore it:
Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until your phone turns off, then release.
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off. -
iPhone 5s. Never synced it. Passcode protected. Broke the screen. Need to rest back to factory settings. Can this be done?

if you have a Mac or a PC with iTunes installed you may be able to do this. If your screen is broken but your iPhone still reacts to touch you have to just turn it off, and if your iPhone doesn't respond to touch, you have to hold both home and power buttons for about 7 seconds (it might not work from the first try) so that it shuts down. Afterwards get your lightning to USB cable connected to the computer but not to the phone. You hold your phone's home button and while holding it, you connect it to the cable, iTunes should say something like "iTunes detected iPhone in recovery mode"and a window with a restore button should pop up. You click on the restore button and iTunes will walk you through the process afterwards. If the iPhone has Find my iPhone feature activated you will have to enter your Apple ID password at the activation process after the iPhone is restored.

Iphone Back to Factory Settings
Got a new Iphone about a month ago because my old one died, they couldn't not retreive my contacts, musis, etc and since I hadn't done a back up in a long time I had to start over again. Since then have added contacts, music, apps, etc. Plugged the phone into the computer this morning to transfer some music from my library and the phone reverted back to factory settings! What!!!!! Does anyone know how to make the phone go back to where it was yesterday and restore it back to at least what I had on it a day ago! Very frustrated lately with these apple products!
You should really read the prompts you get on your computer before you just click OK... If you'd never plugged it into that computer before, it asked you if you wanted to set it up as new or restore it from an old backup.
If that's the case, and you didn't bother backing up your new phone to iCloud before you did thes, then there's no way to restore it.
I'd think you would have learned this after losing everything on your old phone because you didn't back it up. -

Incoming FaceTime calls do not ring on MacBook Pro.
I can call other people using FaceTime, but when they try to call me I don't get their call. Sometimes we're on the phone while trying to connect via FaceTime and I can hear their outgoing FaceTime call ringing, but it is not ringing on my computer. They get the message that I am unavailable in FaceTime, even though it's open and I'm there waiting. And their call doesn't show up in my notifications either. I've checked settings, sound, made sure everything is enabled. I can't figure out why I'm not getting their FaceTime calls. I've looked at all the troubleshooting pages and other community questions with same problem. Most of them are using iPad so those suggestions aren't relevant for the MacBook Pro. Thanks for any help.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.
Try deleting and reinstalling the app. -

You can copy the app to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the phone to it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases - an actual backup (either on your computer's iTunes or to the cloud) doesn't contain the actual apps, just their content and settings, for a restore to work the app needs to be either in your computer's iTunes library (for and iTunes backup/restore) or still in the store (for an iCloud backup/restore). Or you could just sync the app from your computer's iTunes (which will only install the app, not any previous content)

You'll need to update your system or fine a system you can use to activate it. There's no way around it.
If you can get to an Apple store and explain the situation to them, they 'may' be able to hook you up with an OS upgrade to Leopard assuming you have a G4 or G5 mac that can handle it. -

After going back and forth between Apple, AT&T and the police (all telling me to go to the other two) I took AT&Ts suggestion and got a new number. One tech warned against doing a backup, especially on my Mac, saying if my phone had been hacked then whatever bug was there would then invade my computer. But nobody knows how to determine if the phone has been hacked or a virus was planted there. Unfortunately I know who would have reason to do such a thing and all I can say is that he is at the top technologically and could easily do it. Almost impossible to prove, however.
So I need to preserve my text messages and my emails as well. I backed up my photos to that Microsoft product (One-Drive) and it froze (Surprise, Surprise) with four short videos to go, and no way of stopping that (when I tried it crashed repeatedly) so I'm in crisis mode here.

I've seen some strange things going on between my iMac and my iPhone and Apple has told me the same thing, call the police which I have done. The hackers have stole 500.00 out of my checking account have access to every internet account I use and no matter how often I change the password their right back on the account. I closed my FB account 3 times only to have someone reopen it. Right now I've got a link in my reading list (Safari) that if I click on it, it allows me to log onto my FB account anonymously.
I've seen a green folder come out of no where while I was trying to delete my passwords out of keychain when that green folder was put into the key chain I was immediately locked out. I than went into system preferences to try to make changes to my security settings, when I clicked on the icon it wouldn't open. I've seen log files of automator receiving commands and sending out my personal information thats on my computer.
I have a legitamate program called iExplorer that allows you to look at the contents of your iPhone back ups and saw a transaction someone made at the Apple store for some full length movies, some albums, ibooks and other apps but when I called the iTunes store and they said none of those items were showing up on my account. If their not on my account how can they be on my iPhone 6? One day someone was using my gmail account and unknowingly used google maps to search for an Italian restaurant, than a Mexican restaurant than a coffee shop and their search showed up on my iPhone but I didn't have my gmail account installed on my iPhone 6. Using my computer I logged onto my gmail account and looked at the maps history and sure enough there were the searches when I'd hover my curser over the link it gave me the longitude and latitude of the where the hacker was when he was using google maps. I know whoever reads this thinks Im crazy but I've documented everything and can prove the things that I have mentioned in this post actually happened.
One day I had my laptop (pc) and my iMac next to each other as I was using both. when I clicked on airport it showed that my laptop and my iMac had made a connection and were actually communicating with each other. I know I didn't do it I don't know how. The iMac was logged into my iCloud account while my laptop wasn't. I have formatted my iPhone at least a dozen times, Apple and an Apple retailer have formatted my hard drive not to mention the numerous times I have formatted it but the hackers keep getting on my devices. Im formatting my lap top at this very second because during the course of the night I left the ethernet cable plugged into it and they locked me out of my c: drive, and configured the system so I can't download any updates from Microsoft, overtime I type in www.microsoft.com it changes to ww38.microsoft.com which takes me to a blank page. I right clicked on the page I was redirected to and read the java script and couldn't believe that someone had actually configured Internet Explorer to redirect me to a blank page when I tried to go to Microsoft. Apples answer to all this is there was nothing wrong with my iPhone or my iMac and if I thought there was a problem to call the police which I have done.
Theres no doubt the hackers are reading this while I type it or will read it and I simply don't care anymore. I no longer email anyone, don't use my iCloud account and have taken precautions to protect my credit but if I ever find out who has invaded my privacy to this extreme the police are going to want to talk to me because Im going to hurt them like they've never been hurt before
