I've tried everything to get a custom umask set for all apps. It just seems impossible...
Is there a replacement for launchd-user.conf?

Which OS you are working on ? Can you try deleting the following folder and retry ?

I have a common problem with the iPod Touch.....has anyone figured it out??

Frequently when listening to music, browsing safari, or playing videos, my ipod touch will stop abruptly and return to the home screen without reason. Shutting down the iPod is a quick fix, but within a half hour the same problem arises again. Has anyone found a permanent solution to this problem? If not, does anyone know if there is a scheduled ipod software update to fix the problem? Thanks a lot!!

The volume control buttons on my iphone 4 no longer appear to work, has anyone had this problem?

My phone no longer rings when someone is calling, it just vibrates. The alarm will still produce sound & I get the sound notification for email. I have reset it, messed around with the settings, and switched the side mute button on & off. It seems to be the side volume buttons because I can not "decline" an incoming call by pushing them either. Anyone have a solution? If it is mechanical anyone know how much it costs to fix?

I am having problems with Safari --- running slowly at times but shutting down unexpectedly at other times and displaying the error message saying something about the sonic foundry plug-in. have searched the forums and still cannot find the answer...
i have imported so far about 12 of my old 8mil to IM08.
am running out of space on my external firewire hd, so want to get rid of some rejected clips in my events.
so...i mark the rejects...get the red line...go to ''rejected clips only'' view...hit move rejected clips to trash button...and it just sits there and then the color wheel comes up and i have to force imovie to quit.
i have tried the advance tools button, no go. The move to trash button is greyed out always, and the only way is to delete an entire event.
does any one have any idea how to fix this?

The solution? Simply wait--for a longer period than you might imagine. I had the SAME issues you did. I'd try to delete 3 seconds of a clip and then wonder why nothing happened after the initial progress bar made it part way after a minute or so and just "hung up". Or so I thought. On a hunch, I let it go for a bit, perhaps 5 minutes or so. The heretofore non trashable clip went to the trash and all was well. I then repeated the same thing another 4-5 times, each time with the same result.
As long as i was patient and let it go without touching anything it would resolve.
Now, can anyone tell me WHY even a simply 3 second deletion should take 75-100 times as long, even with an empty trash bin? What a POS......

I would like to know if there is anyway possible to get the songs from one ipod to a new one. My computer crashed and I lost all my music in my library. So I had to start over. SO I have songs on my ipod that no one else can get because it was in my old library before the computer crashed. Well for Christmas I got a ipod touch and would like to know if I can get my songs that aren't on my new library to my new ipod without having to buy them or import all the songs again. I am hoping there is a way (my fingers are crossed). You think with all the technology there is got to be a trick to do this. Please help! Thanks!!

There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

i got a v3i itunes phone i plugged it into my mac. and it work for a min.
now it's not being recognized at all, i tried reformatting the storage chip
i reset master phone settings. i got this phone for the itunes foremost,
now i'm bout to use it to level my washer machine. a use my old phone.

I have a V3i, and suffered the same issues. Here's how I got it to work.
1. Reformat memory card
2. Reset phone.
3. Repaired permissions on my main volume. Repaired disk [it was ok]
4. Restart computer without phone plugged in.
5. Select USB Port on computer [e.g. not a monitor or keyboard USB]
6. Once computer is running, do not open iTunes.
7. Plug in phone to USB port referenced above.
8. Place your hands in the air, and resist the temptation to touch anything. USB1.1 is sllllloooooowwwww. Allow up to 5 minutes to do nothing before you give up on this step. Look at the system clock to make sure you don't wait too short or two long.
9. iTunes will auto-open.
10. iTunes will throw up a pop up box. It lists the name of your phone, and gives two options: AutoFill and Use as a Disk. Slow down, and take a deep breath. You really don't want either of these options. However, you want to Autofill more than you want to use memory card as a disk.
11. Allow 15 -20 minutes for iTunes to load songs. You'll be able to watch it work, so you'll have comfort everything is going to plan.
12. After the first autofill you can move songs around as you please.

Pop-up window with an attempt to open a URL - has anyone seen this?

I was browsing a website for music lyrics when a suspicious pop-up appeared, along with a very small browser window (about an inch square on the screen). This has happened twice even though I have pop-ups blocked.
The pop-up had the Safari icon and looked like a standard mac window. The text contained the following:

from macupdate, but it didn't find anything. I have not loaded codecs from any websites and I had just completed the latest Apple updates for OSX, Quicktime and iTunes before this problem occured.
Has anyone seen this? Is this serious? I've never had any problems with Safari before this.
